Thanks! Tanzanite will get a overhaul at some point, there is some missing textures and weird colors. So i will convert the "IW Tanzanite MK II" over to vanilla and update it at some point.
Punn 9 Jun, 2021 @ 3:51pm
Thanks, I'll try and give both of them a test run. Great builds :)
icewolfen  [author] 9 Jun, 2021 @ 3:42pm
Hi Punn! I have not tested it against that. I'm pretty sure the Tanzanite can do it. So i asume if you equip this one with the same amount of weapons as the Combat steel version of Topaz, it should have similar firepower. I'm currently testing a larger version of Topaz X. But if you want large hangar, i think this one or Tanzanite is the way to go :)
Punn 9 Jun, 2021 @ 1:45pm
Is the Black Opal able to take on the Legacy ships like the Topaz can? Or close to it?
icewolfen  [author] 22 Jan, 2021 @ 7:34am
Thanks! A good tip for make parking easier is to press alt to get free look, then use the arrow keys to turn the vessel and mouse to control camera. If the carrier is leveled out by pressing O then the SV also can be leveled out by pressing O and that makes it a lot easier to park in narrow areas. Personally i only used those parking lots for vessels i didn't use that often. More for backup SV's
RevSamael 22 Jan, 2021 @ 12:38am
Yeah the IW Ruby does fit in there good enough and also get out but the IW Diamond Star for example I can get into the parking spot but getting it out takes a while. But anyway the Tanzanite doesn't really have that problem since it has an extra parking spot where the Ramp on the Black opal is.
But than again I had problems even getting the Ruby in there yesterday while today it somehow works, I'm probably still not used to just flying into things and not expect the ship to completely crash as it was the case with some other games.
So again just great work on those Capital Carrier Vessels, I'll also check out the other ships but those just caught my eye first.
icewolfen  [author] 21 Jan, 2021 @ 7:26am
Thanks :) When i built the parking space, i tested with all my SV's that i had built up until this point and i was able to park all of them. The Tanzanite might have wider parking lots. The height is the same tho.
RevSamael 21 Jan, 2021 @ 3:38am
This is a really nice CV, I came across your builds starting with the Black Pearl which already was a great CV but now I'm looking through your other work to see what else you've build.
However I've got one small problem with this Ship, the VIP parking space is pretty much useless since the farm blocks the direct way onto it making the ship size you can actually get onto that parking spot extremely small. However I've seen that you've already created a rework of this for Reforged Eden and once I start playing that I'll check out wether this flaw was corrected in that version. Keep up the great work!

A slightly larger but size class 8 reforged xeno edition of this will probably be released during next week. A prototype can be found in my Discord.
icewolfen  [author] 27 Jul, 2020 @ 8:10pm
@CPT Dude Thanks a lot! Lol, i'm having a hard time to choose myself :P And just to make it even harder, my plan of making a small CV for the Opal ended up with me started building a super carrier that is at least 4 times bigger than the Opal xD so the custom CV adapted to Opal is put on hold for now
CPT Dude 27 Jul, 2020 @ 5:17pm
@icewolfen. So, I have now had many hours in the Opal and the Pearl. I will say this. The Opal is like my home town. So much space and room for everything. The Pearl like my home. My BIg home hehe. Smaller but feels like home. I now understand why you prefer the Pearl. As a single player, I do prefer the Pearl. But. I cannot stop appreciating the scale of the Opal and what it has.
The main draw with Pearl over the Opal is convenience. You mentioned landing. And yes. The Opal is more difficult to land because of it's size. I still cannot choose between them. I love them both.
icewolfen  [author] 21 Jul, 2020 @ 3:53pm
@CPT Dude I will probably do it, can't promise when it's done. I really wanna use the Opal more my self, but i also love the Pearl. I feel using both at the same time is overkill for a single player. So i will look into making a smaller CV special made to fit the Opal :)
CPT Dude 21 Jul, 2020 @ 3:33pm
@icenwolf Please do make a cmall CV for the Opal! In my first playthrough, I have the mats required for Opal. I think I am going to go for it! The Pearl is by far the best ship I have used/tested. But the Opal, Is just even more of what the opal is. I have only used Opal in Test server. SInce I do not really play on my first playthrough anymore, I might as well try the opal out!!
icewolfen  [author] 21 Jul, 2020 @ 3:29pm
@CPT Dude for planet actions, Emerald or Sapphire is great to bring with you. If you are heavy into space POI's then i recommend Black Pearl MKII or Amethyst. And if you find a CV from another author you like, you can just spawn them in creative and see if it fits :)
icewolfen  [author] 21 Jul, 2020 @ 3:13pm
@CPT Dude in the beginning i used Emerald. But then i build Black Pearl MKII for doing proper testing in survival before publishing. So i used them in combination for a while. And now i only use Black Pearl MKII, it cover my needs and play style. Have been thinking about making a CV special made for Opal. Only equiped with what you need for looting POI's on planets.
CPT Dude 21 Jul, 2020 @ 3:06pm
@Icewolfen what CV do you use with the Opal?
icewolfen  [author] 21 Jul, 2020 @ 4:41am
@Fury Fairy Thanks a lot for the kind words :) I think maybe the Black Pearl MKII is the solution for you. And later on, you can build the Opal if you see the need. I like to build ships that can be used in game with main focus on functionality, but also keep some RP value. Black Pearl is the final result of 6 months field testing, after i made the hull of the good old Black Pearl. Constant improvement and upgrading during actual game play. If your new to the game i highly recommend joining Xcaliber's Anvil on discord. A great community with nice people that know a lot about this game. https://discord.gg/xbjtjs
Fury Fairy 21 Jul, 2020 @ 3:55am
That aside, I can tell you sir: after thoroughly checking both ships for about an HOUR using god mode... they are just BRILLIANT. I'm very functional man, dont care about nice looks, so the 1st thing I do when spawn any BP from Factory - I do clean up all that crap like flowers etc. However, you geniusly managed to keep functional aspect as an unquestionnable prio, while making it look sleek and fancy, so I dont even mind to keep crew quarters on the ship - since they're cleverly placed well aside from main pathing :steamhappy:

About to test it as CV though, not just a cool looking pile of combat steel :) But something tells me I wont be disappointed. Once again - appreciate your time and efforts and "proper" spirit of creativity, as well as prompt responses to your followers! :rainbowbug:
Fury Fairy 21 Jul, 2020 @ 3:55am
@icewolfen WOW thanks for such a detailed explaination!.. That's my 3rd week in EGS, just playing vanilla solo campaign, getting familiar with the game and its mechanics. I'm hoarder and warrior by nature, but I gather staff only to feel safe (food+ammo) + built something = I do NOT need crazy kSUs cargo. I grabbed all the res needed for the T4 ship using compact T1 upped to T2, since that Factory sink is anazing, you just dump all the crap in there keeping some huge CV as blueprint that accepts everything. I spawned both Pearl and Opal side by side in creative, and for now I'll go with Pearl - well, until I realise one T4 is not enough for my needs :)
icewolfen  [author] 21 Jul, 2020 @ 3:34am
For mining, they are very equal in use. When taking out ground POI's, i usually park out of range from the POI turrets and move the CV closer when looting. Black Pearl is smaller and easier to park. Personally i want to use the Opal, but i always end up using the Black Pearl, it suits all my needs. Opal was intended to be used as a mobile base in combination with a smaller CV but does it well on it's own. Black Pearl was intended to be the only CV you need if you play alone, but works also great in combination with a large CV carrier. Hope this helps you out. If not, just ask more specific on what scenario you will use it the most :)
icewolfen  [author] 21 Jul, 2020 @ 3:34am
@Fury Fairy Thanks! That's a hard question. I build both of them on the server i'm playing on my self. I guess it depends a lot on your play style. The Opal is bigger, but have more thrust and more weapons, by adjusting pitch, yaw and roll in your statistic page it will be a very agile fighter. Black Pearl is smaller and have the advantage of smaller hit box, I feel they are equal in combat. If you like to carry a lot of stuff and use several CV's SV's and HV's for you playing, then Opal is the choice. If you only want one CV and have a couple of SV and HV, do harvesting when you need, and go to the trader when storage boxes fills up then Black Pearl may be the choice.
Fury Fairy 20 Jul, 2020 @ 10:58pm
Hey @icewolfen, this one or Black Pearl MK2? I'm a new player, just hoarded enough res in factory... so could you please compare your creations if possible and recommend based on some criteria, e.g. Pearl is better for combat, Opal for mining etc etc. Thanks in advance, and sure thing keep up the GREAT work!.. :fullstars:
icewolfen  [author] 10 Jul, 2020 @ 12:15pm
Nice to hear Priester! Hope you enjoy the ship :)
[Schatten] Priester 10 Jul, 2020 @ 12:01pm
hi it works fine .... is automaticaly update this one :D i need 24 more Silicium and 12 more copper :D
i have found the o2 station in the creative mode.
thx icewolfen :steamhappy:
[Schatten] Priester 10 Jul, 2020 @ 9:32am
aye commander ... this is a good idea :D
icewolfen  [author] 10 Jul, 2020 @ 9:31am
@Priester, you can also spawn it in creative mode. if there is a O2 station in the hangar, then you have the updated one :)
icewolfen  [author] 10 Jul, 2020 @ 9:29am
@Priester it should it should be updated automaticaly, but sometimes it don't. so to be sure, i guess the safest option is to unsubscribe and subscribe :)
[Schatten] Priester 10 Jul, 2020 @ 9:15am
Hi . I have some question about this ship. I Subscribed this 5 days before and i put it im my ingame-factory and collected nearly all ressources for it ... and now it was here Updated. Now my question: to become the Updated ship, must i unSubscribe this here and Subscribe it New... or is this automaticaly update in my game ... and i can click ingame on the "build"-button and become the updated one ??? :steammocking:
icewolfen  [author] 9 Jul, 2020 @ 2:15pm
@ulthrin Now the ship is updated, expanded the hv/sv ammo storage from 16 to 320Ksu, I also added a O2 station in hangar bay and removed one motion sensor and a lot of circuits. I simplified the signal logic and kept all the functions. I did some testing in survival with a sizeclass 6 CV docked and warped a lot. The motion sensor worked nice. So if you have the option to spawn in the new update, move your things over and destroy the old one, that's the easiest way of doing it. I recommend unsubscribe and subscribe to make sure you get the updated version. Thanks a lot for the input.
icewolfen  [author] 9 Jul, 2020 @ 11:55am
@Tarsis Yeah, it sounds kind of fun, but i feel that big ships, are easy causing lag and bugs the game. maybe later when the game gets more stable and some more fuel effective :) Emerald sounds like a very good choice for a starter :) At least it's my favorite :P
icewolfen  [author] 9 Jul, 2020 @ 11:52am
@ulthrin The way the boarding ramp works is with two motion sensors working together. that way you can walk on half of the ramp without falling down. What i experienced myself on ships from SC 6 and over is motion sensors suddenly stop working. Don't really know why. In one ship i did pick up the motion sensor and replaced it, still not working. had to remove it and put a new one somewhere else. I will go over the signal logic and post a comment when i'm done. It's just to build a O2 station and put it where ever u want ;)
ulthrin 9 Jul, 2020 @ 10:06am
@icewolfen I'm talking about the large boarding ramp and the main hangar door. I'm almost sure none have touched any signal logic in the ship, The ramp won't open from the inside, but does from topside tho it close very fast. The hangar door stopped working. I haven't really played around with sensors and logic, but thought it could be issues with sensor range and some of the stored ships could interfer with the sensors. It's not a major issue as we play on a private PvE server. Using one box for each ammo type is imo overkill, Some factionmembers does think that a O2 station could be a good thing to have in the hangar, but i told them to stop whine:)
Tarsis 9 Jul, 2020 @ 6:39am
icewolfen, have you considered doing a supercarrier build, just to see what you can come up with?

I've started a new survival game just using the IW carriers and some other support ships (just getting materials to build the Emerald) and you do some fun works. I'd be interested to see what kind of jaw dropper you could put out.
icewolfen  [author] 9 Jul, 2020 @ 12:53am
@ulthrin Thanks a lot for the comment! I really appreciate that :) when u say hangar doors, do you mean the large boarding ramp and the main hangar door? Or also the hangar door to engine room? I had a similar issue myself, but not in either single player or creative and no one commented it before now, so i thought it maybe had to do with my server, that it was strugling with a sizeclass 9 build. I know i can remove at least 4 circuits and still keep the functions. I did that on my other ships. I will do it on this as well, maybe the game bugs it out because of the complex signal logic. I will update this ship later today. And i can tell you how to fix it if u don't wanna spawn in a new ship. Regarding the cargo boxes, i also noticed that ammo takes some insane volume. I have considered using one box for each ammo type.
ulthrin 8 Jul, 2020 @ 3:27pm
We are a group of 4 people that have used this as our home for 2 weeks now and love it. Every time we come to a new system we place the mothership in the center of the system and spawn in 2 small bases for production to save fuel. We have some small issues with the hangardoors, so those we just leave open :). Our main issue is with some of the containers. 16Ksu for HV and SV ammo might do it for 1 person, but not 4. We took one of the 320Ksu and made it HV/SV ammo storage. The 2 old 16Ksu was changed to armor and weapon locker. Apart from all that....Bloody good ship and we give it A++++
icewolfen  [author] 3 Jul, 2020 @ 2:56pm
@Tarsis Thank you very much! I really appreciate that :D Nice to hear the ship meets your needs:) Have fun playing!
Tarsis 3 Jul, 2020 @ 5:43am
Def a Michelangelo in my book. :steamhappy:
Tarsis 3 Jul, 2020 @ 5:41am
It's fun. That's what matters.

It has a TON of weapons, that matters to me. Also, my friends and I don't have to run for 40 miles to get to all the important stuff. It's got thruster enough so if more than one buddy wants to have another carrier for some solo play, it's got 'em docked right there.

That it *looks* elegant at the same time? Well, that's just a crown jewel as it were.
icewolfen  [author] 2 Jul, 2020 @ 11:52pm
@Tarsis Thanks for the compliment! That sounds cool. Yeah, if i had build it for pure functionality it could have had way more hangar and grow plots. But i like to balance my build with some RP value. It's just how i enjoy the game play. There are a lot of great builds from other authors, some for pure functionality and some with a lot of RP value but bad functionality. I'm somewhere in between i guess:P
Tarsis 2 Jul, 2020 @ 8:03pm
I strap a Black Pearl to one side, and an Amethyst to the other. They just fit together so nice, and I wanna have all them juicy turrets. It's a supercarrier with mostly wasted space, but it looks pretty nice. The Opal is a real gem though, for sure.
icewolfen  [author] 30 Jun, 2020 @ 6:46pm
@404exe Thanks a lot! I always like to test my builds in survival to make sure it's functional. And yeah, i know people like to do signal logic different. I just do it like i prefeer, and then people can rebuild or change whatever they want, that's a nice thing about this game :)
404exe 30 Jun, 2020 @ 1:45pm
Very nice work! Most CVs this size are useless, because the space is used mostly for deco.
But your CV is a perfect balance between design and funtionality.

I reworked the signals to my liking (but kept the drill-mode - love it!!!), fueld it up and now I'm on my way trough the galaxy whit this fine ship!
icewolfen  [author] 27 Jun, 2020 @ 10:34pm
@Rigo thanks a lot! :) i really appreciate that! I do use it as base myself in my current game play. In combination with a smaller CV. Tried to make it as functional as possible and still keep some RP value.
Rigo 27 Jun, 2020 @ 4:54pm
you sir, can have my award, this is very well design, i just spawned this in creative and checked all details. features that i needed (plant grow and sick bay), check. space for hv sv and even my current class 2 cv, check. ore mining and that special backward mining operating cockpit, check. ore refinery and massive construction, check. I teared down my own base and start using cv as a home that can go everywhere i want to, this one is my choice.
dennis 26 Jun, 2020 @ 1:16am
@icewolfen Exactly!!!
icewolfen  [author] 25 Jun, 2020 @ 10:18pm
@dennis thank you :) after CV to CV docking got enabled and expanded solar system i find this as a nice alternative, if you don't wanna have a permanent base on a planet or in space.
dennis 25 Jun, 2020 @ 9:09pm
@icewolfen I've tried this and this works perfectly with samll CVs.Thanks!!!
icewolfen  [author] 23 Jun, 2020 @ 3:28pm
@dennis thanks a lot :) just updated with the correct blueprint that allows you to land level on planets/plattforms.
dennis 23 Jun, 2020 @ 2:49pm
Thanks for your great work! I love this and will try it!!! Great idea for a CV as a base for smaller CV!
