Any chance of a color selector, at least for purple?
(while I'm wishing: some way to differentiate the stain drops on Minas head.)
(Even though I get that this mod is meant for no-touching-liquids runs.)
never mind, that was all lies, just had å quick tryout. oof, so good when combined with "Roguelite Vision", bringing out the light effects and feelings of a dark cave. Killed by "Procedural projectiles"

Hah you're fine, I'm not gonna remove comments or anything.
I mostly said 8 bit in a non serious way in the description. I mean I think the way I wrote it makes that pretty obvious :p
It limits the color pallet to 8 colors of green and applies a shader that curves the screen and other crt effects, that is all it does. ^^
Proxy 25 Jun, 2020 @ 11:44am
good points, i'll cap it here before the whole section is full of barely relevant comments.
again i'm sorry but when i see stuff about a hobby or subject i know stuff about (or am interested in) i'll likely throw my 2 cents into it even though noone asked or cares.
UltraDelux 25 Jun, 2020 @ 11:32am
you probably know what it is. you managed to learn a lot about bits so you might know words too. anyways it was pretty apparent nobody was literally talking about bits. and if anyone wants to go on about it this is an odd place. unless you want it on record somewhere some strangers might see. i dont know ive done it before. anyways you guys all check yourself. like how im wondering if my attempted intervention has any point. but at least ive checked myself and realized i dont care, im doing it anyways, and leaving some indication that i realize it may be silly.
UltraDelux 25 Jun, 2020 @ 11:32am
listen im not going to say youre wrong about anything, and the other guy fighting about bits in a mod comment section doesnt seem to keen with social interactions either, and im straight up confused 24/7... but the major thing here is that theres no need to jump out and go on a bit battle besides having an opportunity to prove someone wrong or because its a major pet peeve. either are pretty silly reasons (at least in the comments of a mod, maybe a tech forum would make sense) and its hard not to call somebody out on something like that. i mean the description was pretty obviously a... whats the word? theres a word for it.
Proxy 25 Jun, 2020 @ 11:19am
@WhipMeGrandma
yea sorry about that, when i see something about my hobbies i can get like that
originally i just wanted to say how using "8 bit" is not a good idea as it's not a good term to define something specific, but that quickly spiraled out...

though i'm confused by what you mean with "often wrong".
i did research on "monochrome" and the gameboy specifically so i know those parts are factually correct.
and i basically said that 8 bit has multiple defintions, which technically isn't wrong either...
maybe you mean not calling this 8 bit is wrong? which yea i can see that, it can be called "having 8 bit inspired graphic limits".
but that's only 1 out of 3 so i honestly don't know what you mean with "often"...

@Proxy , I see you're the kind of person who LOVES to be right but is often wrong or just comes off as being a douche.
Proxy 25 Jun, 2020 @ 10:57am
@The World Builder
>Who are you to define what is '8 bit'
i never defined it as something (or tried to atleast)...
i only said it's a very loose term and therefore not useful to describe something specific.

@Evaisa
also kinda counts for you, 8 bit doesn't have to mean more than 8 shades of a color, it can mean many things. just stick to the term "Retro" not 8 bit.

>There are no such thing as shades of a colour on a monochrome display.
that is completely wrong though.
the literal defintion of monochrome is (wikipedia): "[...] is composed of one color. A monochromatic object or image reflects colors in shades of limited colors or hues."
the gameboy's screen is offically defined as a "monochromatic screen", again from wikipedia.

so i'm still correct in saying it's a monochrome shader roughly based on the monochrome display of the gameboy.

>Check things yourself before you correct other people.
same for you, i atleast google stuff before i comment :p
Evaisa  [author] 25 Jun, 2020 @ 10:14am
This shader also limits the game to 8 different shades of green, if it was true 8 bit color it would have a lot more colors!
Proxy 24 Jun, 2020 @ 12:28pm
i mean there are 8 bit systems that don't have any colors at all, not even shades of the same color.
as said it's a very broad term, so it's impossible to use it to describe something specific like an art style or specific amount of colors...

and i see what you mean with parts it cannot effect, like the red eyes of the Hounds. kinda a shame to be honest that you cannot change everything.
Evaisa  [author] 24 Jun, 2020 @ 11:12am
@Proxy It does limit the colors, it is not technically 8 bit because 8 bit allows for more than 8 colors, it doesn't affect some parts of the game because not everything is affected by shaders
UltraDelux 22 Jun, 2020 @ 2:50pm
jeez proxy... you forgot something man! theres nothing cathode ray tube about it either! my gahdayng maniter is still FLAT!!! out here misusing my puter screen an my bits! dont let them do this to me man!
indoin 22 Jun, 2020 @ 10:24am
GOOD
Proxy 22 Jun, 2020 @ 8:34am
it's basically a Monochrome CRT Emulator, nothing "8 bit" about it. "8 bit" is overall a very broad and misused term.
it would fit more into "8 bit" if it would limit the colors/shades of the game instead of just coloring them.
for example the Gameboy also had a Monochrome display and only had 4 shades of green/gray to work with.
also the flickering is a bit stressful on the eyes
otherwise it's decnetly good Monochrome CRT Emulation.

It makes it so much harder to tell what's happening but the look is fantastic. Wouldn't use it to win but definitely fun to play with casually.
