would be nice if have costume though, not needed ODM as for now we are fighting mechanoids not 30 meter Titans. like the badge on the back that would be great maybe duster reskin?

I think you misunderstand... only trying to bolster some inspiration. And was actually referring to Yautja's comment about the impossibility of z levels being a thing. Funny enough that mod had been posted two days beforehand. ;)

No expections at all, just thought it might be fun to brainstorm. Of course it would only be a representation, but I don't think it would look too silly. A lot of us are used to this with Dwarf Fortress and Unreal World and the like. Creatures pop in and out of maps as they catapult into the sky or fall off cliffs and that's friggin hilarious in a whole different way. XD

Sometimes you lose track of where they went, but you can also Pause and toggle Follow if you want to watch where a specific creature is heading, then the 2D maps cycle through as they go tumbling down a damn waterfall that you thought you had restricted.....

Anyway, I hope you have a lot of fun with this idea in whatever way you choose to take it.

I said "...or practically impossible to implement at worst." I didn't say it was definitely impossible in all cases. Perhaps I should have worded it differently. Also in that same sentence, I was only referring to the ODM gear's movements itself. I know how it works. I just wasn't sure how I would go about implementing an object purposely built for 3D mobility into a purely 2D game. It's like trying to visualize a 4D cube in a 3D space. It's possible, there are representations of it out there, but you'll never see the real thing.

I'm just saying temper your expectations. I'm quite certain that some form of flashy 2D mobility can be made, but don't expect it to look great or close to what you've actually seen in anime and such.

Whenever someone says it's impossible to implement a mechanic into a game, it is almost always proven wrong by those with patience and skill. While this is a beta, and still needs a lot of work.. behold, we have a Z axis.

I would suggest working on how the ODM Gear works by itself first and not jump headlong off a rooftop until both ideas are more stable, but I just thought this might be something of interest to ya further down the.. zipline.

- The ODM Gear should gives pawn a skill like hook / dash. It should be the same as BladeDancer skill (refer to Rimworld of Magic mod: https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1201382956) .

However, base to the fact that the real ODM gear will need pawn to go in to slash then dash out of Titan's attack range, I would suggest that this skill has 2 phases. Once pawn choose to dash in and slash, he should have a 1-2 seconds cooldown to use the skill again to move out or move to different direction with high speed.The hook should be able to target a tree, building or even another Titan. And while moving to the new target, pawn can also change the direction by activate the skill another time to hook / move to that different direction)

@Poet there was actually a mod that did that, of shfting a human to a werewolf on full moon and then back to human again, and controlable! I gonna have to find it, but I remember that mod and it worked damn nicelly, various versions and types of werewolves and moon events!

I think if you could mod at least the titans, like the Zombieland mod, as they being spawned and roaming the map freely, but not attacking walls, just humans outside, it would be amazing.

Regarding the shifters I already gave the statement, I gonna search for that mod and link back to you!

ODM Gear I think its impossible to do it, because it would require Z axis or things in motion that I think does not exist in the game code.

Doesn't look like it, but... I have some plans on doing just that.

Modding Titans into Rimworld would be fairly easy; just make a huge animal with a human texture that only hunts humans, if possible. Done. Shifters would be tricky, since even right now I don't know of any mods that let one creature turn into another and then switch back when needed. And ODM Gear... That's a very special kind of hoo boy... Making it an apparel item and giving it like a movement speed buff would be easy, but to make it have actual functionality akin to swinging around buildings and trees at breakneck speeds in a pure 2D game such as Rim would look silly at best, or practically impossible to implement at worst. But, I would appreciate any workarounds or ideas about that.
