@Starve Guy Thanks for the tip. Making all characters be similar to each other should be rather simple though, Klei actually gave us the tools to easily configure that.
@Vistuz Originally, I was going to rely on a system which knew if you were in or out of combat. If you were in combat for the past few seconds, you would log out while dropping all of your items. The reason I didn't go with that route is because players can exploit such a system. For example, I can go in someone's base, steal their items, then log out as soon as they show up and prevent them from taking back their loot. Furthermore griefers could loot the server of gold and flint and logout.
There is also plenty of mechanics that I can use from the forge, but as of right now I just want PvP to be fair and functional. The combat system may have a heavy overhaul in the future too, but we'll see how it goes and how players will exploit the current mechanics to their advantage.
