@mayonnaise I'm fairly sure they used Air Force officers for it (similar to the USA with NASA), at least initially. Cosmonauts just wore their Air Force rank, uniforms, and awards + whatever commendations they got from being a cosmonaut

It's a mouthful, sure, but that's the official title
Unless you'd rather have me name them Admiral-Fleet since that's the direct syntax translation from Russian

Private in the Soviet military are referred to as Soldier or Soldat
And Matrose is Matrose

Wouldn't it be "Fleet Admiral of the Soviet Union".. English isn't my first language, but I'm pretty sure. Same with Aviation Chief Marshal.. Wait why are the titles even those? Matrose means Sailor. Soldat means Soldier.
