Yeah, it does sound kinda cringe-worthy. The thing is, though: The Mercenary (at least as far as his voice goes) is a parody of over-the-top action heroes from the 1990s-era FPS games, and to a lesser extent chessy 1980s action movies. So, him sounding over-the-top and kinda stupid is part of the joke.

by the way, it seems some (if not all) the pain sounds either arent there, or there bitrate isnt properly set, Failed to load sound "vo\merc\pain2.wav", file probably missing from disk/repository
