no, pitching up comes (mostly) from the moded wheels.
This mod is doing the roll for you.

is this mod supposed to stop ships pitching up? my plane would always pitch up unless i stopped it using a override and using this mod only seems to make the pitching worse

@Dziwo, I think the Mod can not work only on clientside. The mod is not acting on user input, he is acting based on vehicle movement.

This is a very slept on mod. Makes handling ships in SE so much smoother and natural for anything that prioritizes downwards thrust. This directly caused me to make mostly Elite inspired ships that can naturally turn like aircraft in space. Surprisingly works great with the Hover engine mod to make speeder bikes that actually have to turn to change direction with their hover engines at high speeds. Lots of fun.

I wondered about this though, would it be possible to make a purely client side version of this for the Plugin loader? I would assume so cause it looks like it mostly affects input.

The original AFM was based on a small Block that had to be installen on the Plane, just dont load the Mod. AFM 2.0 is directly attached to every cockpit. Load the mod (AFM2.0) with the game, paste the plane in and go to the cockpit settings and turn it on and adjust the power. Should work.

Would using this newer 2.0 version:
(A)...automatically fulfil the "AdvancedFlyModule" mod requirement for vehicles like Aircraft Takara 20t2mC AFM-Prop that use the old version?
Or...
(B)...would we need to change the script on such vehicles to use this new 2.0 version?

Hm, I dont work on new Mods, I am just working to let the existing stuff running.
It should be possible by playing arround with the override. But would not work with turning off.

hi, How do you like the idea of making a mod so that the engines give thrust gradually (so that the engines need 10 seconds to give 100% thrust). So, my plane needs a runway)

please mak a bug report and tell me your list of mods, maybe you are using one that is not compatible. In 2.0 I safe data in the cockpit for example.

me again ahahaha, after alot of time, still have some issue even in single player mode, this time i will research more, buth somehow my personal vesel make the game crash when its 2.0 advance fly, but if i use 1.0 it dont crash.

Hi Tecnos, tested it in the past. Maybe you are using another mod, and that is using the data field of the cockpits? please go the disscusion area and post your list of mods and error log. Will check it until I am back from my holidays. Have a nice day

Not working on dedicated Server, i just crash the game if touch any option of the AFM2.0,same for 1.0

Thank you for the report. At the moment I dont have a server so I cant check it. Game didnt crash in "local" mode. The Mod itself is desinged to handle other informations in custom data. Would be great if you can post the end of your log, maybe I can see something.

You have to try it, it just rolls your vehicle according to the sidemove and sidway turn.
Yes, they are precise. Try to understand the function, you turn left (without manual roll), the ship becomes a sidway move to right (used only sideways for calc). The mod reacts now with a roll to the left side (like TOPGUN). If the roll is enough, the ship has no longer a sidway movement.
If it to fast, reduce the power of the AFM in the Cockpit.

Where do you see these error? I only noticed that wether I activate the AFM it doesn't do any difference. Ship behaves like normal cockpit. But I do'nt use the artifical horizon mod..

Navball is great but the orig author quit modding and for some insane reason Keen didn't just pay him the pitiful 12k a year for part time t hat he asked for to do it seeing he is sick and all. Or is that someone else?

Anyway, It needs an update too it's tossing errors I had to take it out and it broke my heart.

Oh really? I had this problem *begin* during play interestingly enough. I too am using the artifical horizon and came to these comments looking for this sorta info due to afm2 crashing. Thanks! I'll go remove that

Fast artificial horizon scuffed this mod for me too. I recommend MA navball as a replacement.

Whenever this mod is enabled all the AI ships on earth crash to the ground when they spawn in. No movement, no gyroscopes. It only happens when this mod is enabled. Just FYI to others

@YerBoiChief, thank you again for the report. I was able to reproduce it. Keen makes a jump from 0.05g to 0.00g, I think the physics engine dont like it. Automated gravity alignment is now deactivatet bellow 0.10g. Problem fixed.

Hey @YerBoiChief do you also run one of the Space just got Real mods by chance? I had the same and bug disabled one of those and cleared my cache folder in appdata and that fixed it.

@Takeshi Great mod! I'm having a little trouble with it though. When I leave Earth and head out to space as soon as I hit 0.05 gravity the screen goes black and I get a crackling sound in my speakers. I can still see my HUD and can still move the ship but cant see anything at all (only when leaving gravity not entering it). I have setup a New game and tested it multiple times and its definetly this mod. Not a deal breaker though as I can just disable the mod when I have to make a space run. Any thoughts on this?

Ok so came here from the old version as i want to make a new design after new hinge and having some time to play and saw this... Now i don't need to add a new block...

Posting before testing using it, you say it work in space but is limited, does that mean you could make a ship without full thruster direction? (i think of having only small ion for parking but having main thrusters on the back and bottom to make it fly like a plane)

Anyway with this mod and realistic thruster mod and new hinge and all i can finally make a vanilla only (+ scripts) ship who should feel better to design xD

In the method UpdateAfterSimulation() the var speedDir is first calculated from sideways movement before rotation is calculated to var speedDir2. So I just cleared speedDir var before subtracting speedDir2 from it to disable the roll based on sideways movement. (Not sure what delta1, delta2 and the other stuff that is calculated from speedDir does so I just left that).

To separate the realign force from the roll force I made another slider (setup just like afm20_power_slider but with another name) and used that value from that slider instead in the method aligntogravity().

@Thakeshi: Thank you. It was as I guessed, that I was not using it as intended.
I've made a private copy (that I will not publish) where I have disabled the roll when moving sideways and with a second slider to adjust the power for the realign so in a way this gave me a mod that suited me perfectly. :) I was mostly after a way to keep the ship from rolling when rotating it when mining. All the in-game scripts I've tried was way to slow to react to be usable.
But the auto-roll when flying forward also also a nice "bonus" for me.

I can confirm tho that speed mods don't interfere here tho. I always use a speed mod a this works perfectly. Btw, Takeshi, you thought about my proposal? Or could i use part of your code in my work? Credits to you ofc and if you want, I'd be glad to add you as contributor.

Yes its for planes. And the Planes rolls left right wihle you fly forward and turns left/right. It does the same without flying forward to stopp you from woving sidewards because mostly planes have no thruster sideways. Please try it without speedmod, there is a limitation and a speedmod should not have impact. The align to gravity is only a small force, in normal case the default behavior do the leveling, but if you have sideway thrusters, they stop the normal behavior.
