I don't know the magnitude it should increase the amount of resources in asteroid fields, but for sure it does work. Though, it only works on the initial generation of a sector: f you clear it down to 0 resources and wait for the game to respawn asteroids there, respawned resource asteroids will be vanilla sized ones.

it should work with 2.0 but in all honesty i have no idea if this is still working as intended. so i'm unsure if it will cause problems when adding to existing save it never used!!

I tried this and it is GREAT! It adds exploring to the game. Without it the auto-miners do all the exploring for you. With it, not only do you no longer have to spend a lot of your time babysitting the auto-miners, but you have to actually do all the exploring yourself. Thanks for creating it.
