It's not, but in my other save, I don't seem to have any problems with it. I'm not getting anything in there errorlog and this only occurred in the new save.

Made a game with 5 colonist, three of which were married to each other, while the other 2 were dating each other. All 5 had the Faithful trait. For some reason, there was an affair only an hour in. Is there something I can do to fix this?

Bug I noticed - I got a transport pod crash event where the pawn that crashed was the wife of one of my male pawns. She also generated with the gay trait. I don't believe I have any other mods that impact pawn sexuality traits

It's not really a bug, but I noticed, that the Rational romance trait 'straight' and its description is now translated into the German laguage. But there has been a translation error. The translation used in game for the straight trait is 'gerade' and while 'gerade' is the literal translation of the word 'straight' when it comes to straight lines and stuff it has nothing to do with sexuality. If Geraman speakers want to express that they're heterosexual they usually just use 'hetero' as an adjective. Alteranatively you could also use 'heterosexuell' the literal translation of hererosexual.

If somehow the translation has nothing to do with you please ignore this comment and excuse the time waste of reading it.

Seems like for some reason Rimworld’s (frankly creepy) exception for Straight women pawns having a chance to hit on any woman pawn is still in? I keep having troubles with my Gay woman pawns hitting on Straight woman pawns… I never have this happen with my male pawns. Is this intentionally still in this mod, or is it some kind of oversight?

P.S. - If they end up dating for long enough, it causes proposal rejects 24/7 and is practically game breaking. It got to the point of a -79 mood debuff from the rejects alone :toriel:

I'm curious how the sexuality system interacts with Identity: Dysphoria. Does it just go off of birth-sex? I understand you are keeping the system faithful to it's original creation so this isn't a request, just clarifying~

Yeah I came here because I'm having similar issues. Pawns asking for a date for recreation can grab drafted pawns, pawns that are scheduled to work only, etc. It's very annoying when you have, say, some harvesters that you really need to get to work but another pawn is bored and keeps dragging them off.

I have a small issue I keep seeing crop up, but nothing gamebreaking. Pawns asking for a date as a form of recreation can yank drafted pawns away from what they're doing to go on a date (which admittedly is funny). It also seems like dating does not respect allowed areas and pawns on a date can wander outside their currently allowed area. It might be worthwhile to check when a date succeeds if one of the pawns involved is drafted and cancel the thing all together.

May I suggest a feature that allows pawns to mingle still even when they dont need sleep. My pawn just forgets how horny he is now that he got a brand new gene to prevent him from needing sleep.

The config "Base Rate at which pawns will propose dates" is a bit confusingly worded. It behaves like a percentage multiplier on rate of dating, sort of? So when you lower the percentage, it happens MORE often. I noticed this because I kept lowering the value after seeing my pawns have chain hookups like 5 times in a row.

A tooltip or phrasing change could be a good idea.

@mlie and @ flashwitt bot are updates to the same mod. One is from versoin 0.17 and two is from 1.2 both seem to do the same things. atleast havent seen a difference.

I'm a bit confused as to the difference between this mod, and Rational Romance 2, which is also by Rainbeau. Both mods were updated on Apr. 5th, so I presume there's some difference, since you're maintaining both separately, but that difference isn't explained, as far as I can see. Clarification requested.

I have a few questions about point (4):


1. How long after a pawn has been rebuffed will they be able to make romance attempts again?

2. It says pawns won't initiate/receive romance attempts if their opinion of their current lover is high enough. What number is considered to be a high enough opinion of their current lover?

3. Finally, for the part that talks about how the ugly trait affects romantic attraction: is there a stat for romantic attraction? Is it the RomanceChancceFactor that shows up in devmode?

is it possible to make pawns only attempt to romance another pawn once and if it fails they dont attempt on the same pawn? perhaps this could be tied to the faithful and philanderer trait?

After reviewing the code again, yes you are correct: the cultural background affects who attempts to initiate romance as well as age range. Women from "Tribal" or "Imperial" backgrounds are more likely to initiate, as are men from "Urbworld" or "Medieval" backgrounds. The more assertive gender will have a mild preference for younger partners. Other backgrounds have no difference.

The rebuff penalty is patched to be -1 mood w/ a five day duration.

How much does this mod reduce rebuff penalties? I like a lot of the features of it, but I'm a bit hesitant to add it if it changes those too much. I feel like the cooldown between romance attempts should already reduce the mood impact a lot overall.

Culture really only affects what age range pawns will consider when potentially starting a romance. Once in a romance it doesn't matter any more.

I looked at VSIE code ~2 years ago, no clue if this still holds:

"I haven't tested VSIE, but based on reading the code: VSIE and this mod are mostly compatible. I don't think either will overwrite the other's patches. Gameplay wise, VSIE only allows same gender dating for pawns with the 'gay' trait. Meaning bisexual pawns will only date the opposite gender. The 'One Night Stand' code seems to ignore orientation altogether."

An absolute essential mod to me, though I am quite ambivalent about the "Makes Culture Matter" point. How much is it supposed to change the pawn behaviour?
