All files in media folder is in .bik format (except file called: "startupvids.360.txt").

So, even the l4d2_background01 to l4d2_background05 are in .bik format? That's really weird. I suppose then that the windows vpk.exe may have fucked up the vpk for Linux users. I'm going to upload tonight the file.

I'm using Funtoo Linux.
My path is:
~/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/Left 4 Dead 2/left4dead2/media
I'm using official Valve binary called: "vpk_linux32" - it extracts file without any error.
Game still works, but only skipped that cool video :-(
File is in .bik format too.

You sure you extracted it the l4d2_intro.bik inside the vpk to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Left 4 Dead 2\left4dead2\media ?

If you are playing on MAC, the .bik doesn't work and I need to convert it to .mov. If you are on Linux, I have no idea what the file is, since I never had to adapt a mod for Linux.

It's a software that allows you to extrack vpk. You need it because L4D2 doesn't support vpk for intro or background but you can only upload vpk files. So the file you need for the intro is inside the vpk.

I'm sure you've done something wrong. There is no way you and I do the same thing and don't get the same result. Anyway right now I'm uploading on Google Drive the .bik file in an archive, so you'll just have to DL it, extract the file and it should be fixed.

All the mod I upload are tested multiple times to be sure there is no issue. It is probably the workshop download that didn't download everything. It happens a lot for backgrounds and intro mods. If you want, I can upload it somewhere else, and send it to you, just add me on Steam.

Yeah btw i finally got it working it took alot of time but it works now the vpk file wouldn't download for some reason but now its downloaded

That doesn't bother me. The thing that bother me a lot is the workshop that is a real pain for intro or background.

The workshop accepts .vpk upload only even for background and intro. GCFScape is the only software I know that is capable of extracting files in a vpk. If there's another way to extract it, be my guest.
