the box crates are there to make it harder for the defending side to gain the high ground and take the medkit from the enemy team that may be advancing. It does make it harder for non-mobile classes to move up, and that's intentional.

I may be doing some rearranging of the map pickups in the future so it's not too difficult for the defenders to restock.

I would consider replacing the crate staircase with some actual stairs. Climbing up those as a non mobile class would be a nightmare and really slow the match pace down.
