@Lethaius Would you mind if i proposed to Mlie to publish an updated version of your mod?
Trauma Tea 23 Nov, 2020 @ 11:02am
is 1.2 a possibility?
Aillish 27 Mar, 2020 @ 6:03pm
Alright. Sorry for posting on here. Im just lost on commenting about something seem to be off with the mod (related to the CIS) and add some expaination to suddenly got block. Hope you have a good one kolra. I don't mean to comment on this mod.
Lethaius  [author] 27 Mar, 2020 @ 2:54pm
i cant speak for nero, but considering you went to a mod that was made by me, with his help, to ask why you were banned answers that question in of itself.

In the future please keep comments related to the mod you are commenting on
Aillish 27 Mar, 2020 @ 9:33am
@neronix Why did I get blocked after 2 comment on the CIS? What did I do to get blocked for no reason at all :\ (Sorry for posting on here)
nana_the_ninja 6 Mar, 2020 @ 10:42am
Hi, will this see an update to 1.1?
Mitz 16 Feb, 2020 @ 11:39am
went thru mod config
splitted into 40 every cycle. lowered to 6-8.
it also had issues counting by every tick. seemed to make 50 hours into 12 hours or something... Ticked at 4x the rate...? raised.
the freezing temp was also a bit too fast so I lowered it.
Lowered life expectancy to 1 year.
when I tame one, after a few days, my speed is maxed to 3x, possibly 2x.
Glerk 31 Jan, 2020 @ 5:55pm
test 30 Jan, 2020 @ 10:45pm
When this thing is on my map my game instantly slows down from 3x speed 60 fps to maximum 1x speed. Not due to numbers, but because of mere presence of a coolant bead
Thundercraft 28 Jan, 2020 @ 12:52pm
I suggest having an option in a mod options menu to disable or severely curb reproduction. CLEARLY, some people are having problems with the reproduction. And it sounds like some combinations of mods somehow exacerbates this to make reproduction go off like crazy.
Tamako 28 Jan, 2020 @ 3:50am
Hey ! I really love these little cute cooling balls, but I've had to turn the mod off until I understand what I'm doing wrong : they keep multiplying at a super fast pace. For instance, in less than 12 in game hours after I tamed the first one, I now have like 40 of them, and my indoor temperature is around -15°c :s Is there a way to turn the mitosis off ? Or at least, to slow it down ?
Holya666 27 Jan, 2020 @ 3:06pm
Ah. Keep forgetting about the maturity thing. I'll give one awhile then off it and see if it drops leather,
Lethaius  [author] 27 Jan, 2020 @ 2:53pm
coolant beads should give a grand total of 1 leather, i beleive they need to be mature though to give the leather
Holya666 27 Jan, 2020 @ 2:49pm
I do have one question. How rare is their leather? Because I've been culling the population after making a hive through a trader. But I've not gotten a single drop of leather. I am running Bones by Jec which adds a secondary or third drop to creatures. Could this potentially be overwriting the leather drop?
Holya666 27 Jan, 2020 @ 2:45pm
Ah alrighty then. I'll just use dev tools to make one or two my living ac units.
Lethaius  [author] 27 Jan, 2020 @ 2:30pm
oh heck, yeah i know the problem with that one and i admit im not sure how to fix at this point in time, ill confer with some others about fixing it in he meantime
Holya666 27 Jan, 2020 @ 2:25pm
So.. I'm throwing a red error everytime I try and tame one of this litle guys.

https://gist.github.com/05312eee996f4e29dc1cc2a2fd60cf83

There is the error for ya to look at
Lethaius  [author] 27 Jan, 2020 @ 1:18pm
they can now do both, slimes on their own can reproduce up to the point there are about 20 on a map, then the mitosis stops, but the slime hive continues to produce them endlessly if you want more, which! i shall be adding new materials to the mod for use with things and stuff in the near future, so that will be something to look forward to
Cypress, Master Spy of IKEA 27 Jan, 2020 @ 12:11pm
A little out of the loop, just wanted clarification: the SlimeHive now means that's how they reproduce now; rather than mitosis? Does this put a limit on how many can spawn? I love the idea but was a tad concerned that the mitosis may happen too often and cause my game to crash or slow down because I didn't actively cull them.
TheycallmeQ 25 Jan, 2020 @ 1:11pm
Ahhh, ok - cool - I look forward to see where you take this :)
Lethaius  [author] 25 Jan, 2020 @ 12:01pm
i admit the friendly insect thing was intentional, but a total accident. the insects took to the beads as a new source of frozen jelly, which i plan to make which is a slight upgrade from the standard insect jelly
TheycallmeQ 24 Jan, 2020 @ 11:30pm
1) Using hives on the geothermal vents is a clever idea :) Gives a bit of a trade-off as well.

I've seen a couple small things though. Likely related to another mod interaction, unless this starts happening for everyone, but I thought might be helpful to mention - chiefly, when I place the Slime!Hive initially, two random insects spawn, already friendly and appearing under the Animals tab. They only spawn that one time without dev mode, producing beads from then on. Can spawn more bugs by using the debug 'Spawn Pawn' button on the right when the hive is selected. As it's a dev thing, it's not an issue, just possibly worth noting. The middle debug spawn button, for the fertilized eggs works just as intended. And even my toaster can have tons of these little guys roaming around, or locked in a room with no problems!
TheycallmeQ 24 Jan, 2020 @ 11:30pm
2) The only red error that came up while spawn testing was in regards to the bugs button, and Save our Ship 2, so I removed it and started another save, but the behavior is unchanged. I got the 'starting 10 jobs in one tick' error once, but it's due to having a pawn try to install a minified Slime!Hive I dev spawned in before I found it under the Misc tab.

Error log that mentions Save our Ship - https://gist.github.com/HugsLibRecordKeeper/bd109e6f2a6e301fa1e643eb9eeacedb

10 jobs one - https://gist.github.com/HugsLibRecordKeeper/aca6142696e80ab4e95e17649663a2e6

Some images - https://imgur.com/a/QWiKKbQ

I hope that some of this will be of use

And thanks again for making these lil guys, they're a great idea!
Lethaius  [author] 24 Jan, 2020 @ 7:32pm
now the lovely little critters are produced in hives! enjoy!
TheycallmeQ 24 Jan, 2020 @ 5:21pm
I'll see if I can narrow down what combination could be causing the issue. I just figured it's my toaster, heh, as it's clearly not happening to everyone, but I'll see if I can track down any more useful information
Lethaius  [author] 24 Jan, 2020 @ 4:02pm
currently, the error for them splitting uncontrolably is some form of unknown mod conflict. the comp and the code are solid and should have the little guys split off one more after approximately 3 days depending on the temp. ill try to get it fixed as soon as possible, but nobody on my end has been able to replicate the issue
TheycallmeQ 24 Jan, 2020 @ 3:44pm
I haven't been able to get a hugslib log after the crash, as Rimworld locks up and has to be killed through task manager. I've let it run for hours to see if it would work through, but this little toaster of a system just can't do it.

A log from just before the mitosis - https://gist.github.com/HugsLibRecordKeeper/ad9114723415d34bb27639a209fb4fba

And an image of the mitosis frozen as it begins, and after clicking the log button
https://imgur.com/a/ZvanZNE

Fairly confident I can get it to happen so easily on here because this system is weak, needs more ram, and I'm running over a hundred mods
Stormtail 24 Jan, 2020 @ 2:50pm
Sidenote. Killcommanded a lot of them and yeah they all exploded. That was a hoot. Also decided to post the bug log of that. https://gist.github.com/8e929fac0dadad6f04c73cbee758e53b
Stormtail 24 Jan, 2020 @ 2:47pm
Well, been trying these guys out. Fun to play with until a trader came in with around 7000 of them on the map ._. Myeah. https://imgur.com/a/trxATPY Easily fixeable with the console so was rather hilarious, but yah xD
Lethaius  [author] 24 Jan, 2020 @ 8:45am
On a side note, I'll be pushing an update later today to fix some minor issues that were causing game breaking bugs
Lethaius  [author] 24 Jan, 2020 @ 8:44am
Okay so, I need you to provide a hugslib log and explain what exactly is happening, because the mitosis comp should just make a new one pop up every 3 days or so.

And yes, as good as the things are, that's one of their intentional downsides, they will reproduce endlessly if left alone and slow down games. That should happen slowly though, not all at once and they should not cause crashes
TheycallmeQ 24 Jan, 2020 @ 5:25am
I believe the issue is related to the actual 'animation' triggered during mitosis, as I've been able to trigger the crash with only one coolant bead on the map. The crash always occurs just as soon as the animation starts, each time. If it simply created another pawn like normal, it wouldn't create a fraction of the load. That's my theory at least, I haven't been able to remove that function to test it.

They can be butchered normally, and have leather
Thundercraft 23 Jan, 2020 @ 11:14pm
"If I wait too long, my game will crash."
You mean, they duplicated so much that the game can't handle it? Maybe the duplication rate should be turned down, then?

Q: Can we put them to sleep and butcher them, like other tamed animals?
Chicken Nuggers 23 Jan, 2020 @ 8:09pm
I've seen some wild duplication from these guys. If I wait too long, my game will crash. Still, pretty useful.
Stormtail 21 Jan, 2020 @ 10:08pm
You mean either seek someone who knows more C+ or?
Lethaius  [author] 21 Jan, 2020 @ 2:37pm
thats actually a plan for a future incident, ive actually got several in mind but i need to figure out how to do it properly
Stormtail 21 Jan, 2020 @ 2:26pm
Would be funny if you had a big herd coming in seeking to devour your heat. Aint that an idea, warm snuggly place, beadies want heat. I do love chaos.
Lethaius  [author] 21 Jan, 2020 @ 1:22pm
thats basically what happened zero, the critters are a genetically engineered archotech coolant system that basically went wild
crgzero 21 Jan, 2020 @ 11:28am
Years ago there was an episode of Twilight Zone, Outer Limits or some show like that, but a modernized version of it. An alien spaceship crashed and it's "coolant" system escaped and went on a rampage freezing everything it came in contact with.
TheycallmeQ 21 Jan, 2020 @ 6:34am
They don't eat, and don't sleep, 200% tame chance, simple trainability, wildness 0, temps -40 to 80, the mitosis reproduction event is a countdown timer, that appears to vary based on ambient temperature (<splittingTimer>180000, <temperatureOffset>21, <heatMultiplier>0.01, <coldMultiplier>-0.1)
Stormtail 21 Jan, 2020 @ 4:11am
New warcrimes. Send these into an enemy base, make them go hypothermic.
Mistletoe The Bard 20 Jan, 2020 @ 10:39pm
Other than Thundercraft's questions I have a few to add on top as well:

1) What do they eat? Do they eat "live plant"? (AKA your crops and hay) Do they eat process food?

2.) Hunger rate?

--- The rest I will be able to see in-game but it will still be nice to know

Animal Filth Rate
Minimum Training Requirement
Wildness
Min/Max Comfortable Temperature
Reproduction and growth time.
How smart are they?
TheycallmeQ 20 Jan, 2020 @ 8:44pm
I'm testing them in an ongoing save, so I'm not sure about some parts, but they definitely have a Mitosis reproduction event, can spawn in <BorealForest>, <Tundra>, <ColdBog>, <TemperateSwamp>, <TropicalSwamp>, <TemperateForest>, <AridShrubland>, <Desert>, and <TropicalRainforest> biomes, and have a tag for AnimalCommon traders. I'm looking into how to view the dll for the mitosis, as I'm having an amusing issue where if these guys get too cold they seem to reproduce wildly, instantly, lol. Not sure the end result, as this old toaster locks up, heh.
Thundercraft 20 Jan, 2020 @ 7:31pm
The description is a little sparse. So, I'm curious:
(1) As living creatures, do they slowly reproduce over time?
(2) Can they be found in the wild?
(3) Are they found ruins?
(4) Can they be bought from (or sold to) traders?
gyppygirl2021 20 Jan, 2020 @ 9:30am
Heck yeah! I've been looking for something like that for ages. Bless you <3
Lethaius  [author] 20 Jan, 2020 @ 9:02am
pretty much anyone, but yes!
gyppygirl2021 19 Jan, 2020 @ 4:08pm
So... does this mean a way for tribal colonies to preserve food?
Lethaius  [author] 19 Jan, 2020 @ 2:52pm
the mimum temprature is -15C so about 5 degrees farenheight, but you need a few working together to get that cold. they get rid of about half as much heat as a passive cooler though
Trauma Tea 19 Jan, 2020 @ 2:51pm
I love the chilly squish ball! I can't wait to try it out ^o^
How cool can these things make a room? Passive cooler level or we talking sub-zero freezer?
