this mod is not updated from 2020 but seems working anyway, it boost my fps letting me play decently on my notebook

turns the mist in front of the boat into cubes. it wouldnt bother me much if i couldnt really see it through the periscope. if you dont mind that then i think it works great. lately ive just set all the graphic setting to minimum aside from anti aliasing and reflections and i get between 120 and 35 fps LOL even going down to 720p doesnt really help. i uncapped the fps though seems to be less stuttering.

There's a problem with the foam at the front of the boat, while moving.
It's displayed as lots of white squares.

In B128 preview 18 this still seems to work partially but has the effect of rendering all hairstyles bald and making a lot of clothing options unavailable - everybody seems to want to wear a black shirt!

@No Toilet Paper | Boy Unsubscribe from the mod, then resubscribe to it and see if it happens. All this mod does is use the same textures in the game, but significantly reduces the size in a lossless form.

I've been using this mod for a few weeks but recently came across a problem where in the loading screen between the main menu and my saved game the game music will shutter and the game will not progress loading. This mod was the only mod installed. I then disabled the mod and was able to load up fine. My version was the recent B126 with the game reinstalled the night before. Performance Plus was the only mod activated both times.

@CaptFromHTX Try having my mod load first, then the texture mods that you want to be active (drag the mods around in the launcher). See if that works.

Not sure if this has been mentioned, sorry if repeating, but when I enable your mod, it deactivates uboat skin mods I have and makes the boat blank metal. Wasn't sure if you were aware of this?

@Freek (🎨+🔧) Yea, I can't seem to change obj files. Each time I've tried it doesn't do anything. I agree, the Unity engine doesn't like open world games. Even Battletech, which is also made with Unity, shares some common issues with Uboat.

From my experience textures just fill ram, but i also feel an effect on the fps. The work of the gpu mainly consists of rendering and calculations for effects. So the more models (which nearly all are equipped with effects) are leaded the more work for the gpu. Personally i think the main thing for increasing performance is a combination of compressing textures, low poly meshes and low particle count.

And somehow i feel the Unity engine doesn't likes open world games ;) seems it is not good in handling so much 3d data at a time. The management takes very much resources, even on high end systems.

@Rogue One ツ Yea there might not be much of a difference. It was more of a trial and error thing. Logically, the GPU should have an easier time handling the textures though since they are significantly smaller in size. This really only benefits potato computers I would imagine.

@menace correct, while inside the Uboat and outside view behind the boat (need for speed view)

The CPU Usage is maxed out, but i dont think the textures are the problem, maybe the game calculates Every enemy Convoy in 100km Distances ?

With patch 1.26 - 2 the Time Compression is more stable by the way

hmm, i dont think so.

The biggest lags are during View changig from Orbit to Close-Up and when i use time Compression during Close-Ups.

The Animation of the "boat stripping" the Sides to enable the view to the inside is the biggest problem so far.

Would removing objects (models) in the game be a bit too much to increase performance? This would include things like things at the dock, like the oil trailer, guard posts, etc.

hey, with 1.25 i had to remove the MOD because it crashed when i switched from orbit to FP.

Memory Usage and CPU (OLD PC/ LOW SETTINGS) was not different, performance was the same sadly

I still noticed a flag texture mod, but the performance mod overrides the grey wolves texture pack, that’s all I could notice.
