if the soldier was on the same wall parallel to the soldier that's weird. flanking extends normally to a 180 degree area from the cover facing the enemy

So this is kinda weird sometimes? i had a soldier and enemy inside a train. They were almost adjacent to eachother but somehow both of them got full cover bonus from the walls they were next to

Based on what i'm seeing now you can also change cover values on this mod's config too for a more reliable outcome.
Good Soup 7 Feb, 2022 @ 5:23am
you can change cover value in "DefaultGameCore.ini" located at "XCOM 2\XComGame\Config"
I did it but for some reason it didn't work for me (probably because of some other mod i have) so i'm installing this mod too. thank you.

I just read the desc again
"This mod should be compatible with anything, as it is only a basic ini edit."
Isn't that mean we are allow to adjust the number to whatever we want?
[TuP]tammi 27 Jan, 2022 @ 8:36am
Didn't try the mod yet.
I'm looking at people asking for the tweak for defense of low cover and high cover at X value.
I mean, is this mod NOT configurable the value? Can u make it so?

Any chance we could get a version with slightly reduced cover bonuses? maybe something like 40/80 instead of 50/100

@Nazareth
I think there is already a mod that uses those values if I remember right. Give GnaRs tactics mods a look and see if they are what you seek.

I want : low cover 35 / high cover 50 ! Please ;)

Best mod for this game! Thank you!

UPDATE:
-- Aiming Angles have been added into this mod from my Tactical Overhaul mod, allowing aim bonuses against covered targets depending on how close the attacker is to flanking the target.
KaylaKaze 16 Mar, 2020 @ 12:36pm
Using XCOM 2 Alternative Launcher, I'd recommend adding the following to the XComGameCore.ini to get smooth flanking:

-MIN_ANGLE_TO_COVER=10
-MAX_ANGLE_TO_COVER=44
-MIN_ANGLE_BONUS_MOD=0.0
-MAX_ANGLE_BONUS_MOD=0.5
-MIN_ANGLE_PENALTY=0.0
-MAX_ANGLE_PENALTY=80.0

+MIN_ANGLE_TO_COVER=1
+MAX_ANGLE_TO_COVER=89
+MIN_ANGLE_BONUS_MOD=0.0
+MAX_ANGLE_BONUS_MOD=1
+MIN_ANGLE_PENALTY=0.0
+MAX_ANGLE_PENALTY=99.0
KaylaKaze 7 Mar, 2020 @ 3:40am
I've always played XCOM and XCOM 2 using these cover values, but I'd also suggest changing the aiming angles to gradually remove the cover bonus as the attacker approaches flank.
Nova90 24 Feb, 2020 @ 8:51pm
hi is there any way i could get a version that is more like 40 low cover and 75 high cover?
or let me know the path to change the numbers myself?
i love the idea of this mod but after playing with it for a bit. i think its still realistic to have a small chance late came to hit even under full cover without flank. this will still make people need to flank but still there still a 25 or 20 percent chance the guy who cant flank to get a lucky shot in

@yes_commander
Ah yes indeed he said: "Ah but you see, the point of this mod isn't to make the game easier" , "ISN't easier" so I was wrong when I said he said this would make the game easier even if it can make some missions easier especially early. For exemple if you have a soldier who don't trigger overwatch and all Advent does is overwatch then it's easy. So in theory the game could be harder but it can also instead be easier.
yes_commander 26 Dec, 2019 @ 9:48pm
@Deathraven13 Apple Juice didn't say this was intended to make things easier, he said it was intended to increase the amount of risky maneuvers you have to make. It's not supposed to be a clear-cut improvement of a mechanic for the player's benefit, just a change, to switch up gameplay. I might try it out after I iron out some personal changes of my own. If you want to spawn in some specters to see how they deal with extra covery cover, there are simple instructions in this guide: https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1223925683
Deathraven13 25 Dec, 2019 @ 7:22am
or go on overwatch or hunker down, one thing is when you'll face a specter your overwatch will miss most of the time then it will take one of your soldiers and then since the AI tend to take high cover you'll be in trouble. I guess it would be ok if missed shots damaged cover and reduced it's cover value.

I'm not saying the mod is bad or whatever but I think instead of making the game easier as you said it will make the game harder in the end. I don't know if you tested the mod but if you did how did it worked against specters ?

@Apple Juice for the Merry
Well obviously this is not a mod for balance issues and I guess it should be used with some other mods but it's pretty weird. You say it's a mod to make the game easier but it mostly remove the use of firing, so if people get a gun they will most likely go on overwatch wich does not make it easy on XCOM since they have a lot of timed missions and if you try to flank the ennemy you risk activating another pod. You can prevent overwatch with some skills or item, let's say a flashbang grenade or dealing damage with a grenade or a guarranted shot. So I think this won't make the game easier in the end even if it means your soldiers will most likely never been shot, but due to the AI pattern they will either move if possible--
Rebel Uccidere 25 Dec, 2019 @ 1:24am
I feel this is a bit overkill, at least in regards to the numbers, balancing this out with potentially high values for a good angle on someone in cover would at least make this a bit more reasonable.
Apple Juice for the Merry  [author] 24 Dec, 2019 @ 8:36pm
@Deathraven13
Ah but you see, the point of this mod isn't to make the game easier, but to make the game more interesting, especially when combined with other complementing mods. If you have an enemy that wins by default on a stalemate and knows it, such as the ABA overwatch tactic, it is up to XCOM to outsmart the situation at hand and take extreme risks if needbe in guerilla resistance war fashion. Chosen like the Hunter may be most easily defended against when standing still, but when XCOM needs to move the Hunter is constantly waiting with Overwatch, making those crutial repositionings all the more challenging. Such were the thoughts that inspired me to make this mod at least, by far not a carefully balanced change but a unique one to provide a new experience.
Deathraven13 24 Dec, 2019 @ 4:47pm
So hum........... how is it a good idea ? You'll mostly trigger other pods while trying to flank and most units will never hit you if you are on high cover, plus if people have some mods like "A better AI" you'll see ADVENT doing Overwatch over and over until the clock run out.

So basically you'll use explosives, melee and psi and the deadliest ennemies would be ennemies that use the same attacks I've said above. The Chosen hunter will be so weak with this mod.
