It looks like a Cargobob from GTA 5 xD

Part 1/3:
Hey everyone, has HeyItsMeAdam mentioned, there already are a whole bunch of good and not soo good airplane mods from TPF1. So hopefully some will be converted eventually. If not (or in case you are way too eager), there is a converter tool available over at the transport fever dot net community (main forum for the game GER/ENG). It is not that straight forward and ideally requires some understanding and previous knowledge of modding. Took me about three hours of reading into it, setup, downloading and trial and error to get the first mod running properly (the first two I chose were very old TrainFever converts, which caused many problems and took me a good while to figure out, so do not start with converted train fever mods, use some specifially made for TPF1). Also, some simply do not work, others need work in the .lua and/or .mdl files (trial and error with game crashes and error logs). So helps to know you basic way around those.

Part 2/3:
By now I managed to get A350, 747-8, A333, A332, 763, 772, 773, MD11, DC8, MD80, and a whole lot of other TPF1 mods to work (trains, trucks etc). I do however have backups of all the TPF1 Mods (inlc. workshop downloads) I have used in the past, including a big freight plane that no longer is in the workshop of the game... ;) That made my life a lot easier, like I said, some planes/mods are no longer available to download anywhere.

Part 3/3:
Speaking of the TPF.net community, they are super strict on copyrighting, which means, unless the author of the original mod is still active and gets of their bum to convert and adapt the mod for TPF2, everyone is expected to manually convert each mod for themselves. Uploads of converted TPF1 mods are not allowed (in their community, but also in steam). So basically a whole lot of time wasted because some great modders of the past are no longer active, i.e. their mods will never publicly be converted.

Having said all this: If you are super eager to get some TPF1 mods into this game, there is a way, it might just take you some time.

Actually nevermind. There is this chap known as @MJ1989 and he has a decent collection of aircraft, and also @namelessone, which only contributed three new aircraft to the original Transport Fever - Tupolev Tu-154, B747-8i and Yak-42 - while MJ1989 has done the rest. Maybe pestering the lot enough to convert these old Transport Fever planes will do the trick?

I think more planes of all sorts would be great. Don't forget the Antonovs as well HeyItsMeAdam. Unfortunately, I'm not sure how much, if any, help I would be for that project Cookie. This mod was literally just changing one word. I did actually try to get fancy and add in a passenger capability, but failed utterly.

I compiled a wishlist in the Discussion thread for that. It's long and wordy, but I'll summarise it into 8 aircraft:
B747
B767
B787
A330
A350
A380
DC-10
MD-11

Readski, it would be cool to see other cargo planes, im a 3D modeler in blender, if you would want me to help with that.

Curious what'd happen if someone IRL takes an L-100J (that new Hercules) and converts it into a large airliner used for small airports such as in Canada when the 737-200s will have to be phased out...?
Readski  [author] 23 Dec, 2019 @ 3:13pm
I'd love to mod in a C-17 (and a C-141 along with a C-5 to boot) but 3D modeling is far beyond me at this point. I actually tried with a C-5 in blender, but got lost almost immediately with all the tools. Hopefully the plane and truck mods will come eventually (there's a pretty decent ship mod out already), I keep having to remind myself that the game hasn't really been out that long every time I check the workshop.

I *hated* thumper (C-130) troop flights, C-17 with cargo too has seating along the walls similar to a Herc, but has way less cabin noise so far more comfortable. C-17 also has airline style seating pallets as an option which provide reasonable comfort. I can attest to the C-130 and C-17 having short field capability too. - C-17 would be a cool mod for this game.
Readski  [author] 23 Dec, 2019 @ 10:13am
I can attest to it being uncomfortable. Not sure if your canvas bucket seats are the same as the web seating that was on the (admittedly few) ones I had the pleasure of being a passenger on, but I remember it sucked. I never rode a C-17, but other than more space, I doubt the seats are much better.

Had a buddy that was Airborne, he said they would take a C-17 or even a 747 in cargo configuration over these because of how crappy it felt to be packed in the back.

Yes indeed, Fat Albert (as the RAF know it) was a very capable troop carrier. I don't know how you'd make that change in-game, but IRL it requires dropping in units of folding canvas bucket seats and locking them into the floor-mounted cargo pallet brackets. I've travelled a fair few miles that way myself in the dim and distant past. Not very comfortable.... and don't ask about the lavatorial arrangements...

The C-130's and L-100's are indeed used as troop transports as well. Sadly, I've no idea how to do that at the moment, much as I'd like to.
Dell Conagher 23 Dec, 2019 @ 12:52am
Oh, and BTW wasn't the Herc also used as a troop transport as in it carried people? We already have that with the Iron Annie (yunno, that trimotor Junkers) and the Short 330/360, so why not apply that to this?
Dell Conagher 23 Dec, 2019 @ 12:51am
The Herc will finally be useful :) GG @ADirtySock and @Readski
