Hey everyone,

This hasn't been updated since December, so I've taken it upon myself to start maintaining a cleaner fork of this.

https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2056238799

I fixed the bugs, the loot tables, and the stat imbalances. I also removed the unrelated foraging and dairy stuff.

Also, I added more tooltips to help new players.

Update to bookworm trait coming soon in a standalone mod.
m.lima0305 8 Apr, 2020 @ 2:46pm
can anyone confirm if this is currently working?
Shogun 4 Apr, 2020 @ 12:55pm
Don't think this is working currently. I have paperclips but I cannot craft Bobby Pins with them. No contextual menu, and nothing in the crafting menu. Have yet to start looking for bobby pins as loot. Will update if I find anything.
MobileSuitCleb 14 Mar, 2020 @ 9:06am
just a heads up, i think one of the more recent updates has broke the mod
Cheol 16 Feb, 2020 @ 1:11am
I can't find any bobby pins. I used to find a good amount before... but now they're gone.
Rando 8 Feb, 2020 @ 7:29pm
does this work on cars?
Why 20 Jan, 2020 @ 9:26am
Bobby pins no longer spawn on zombie corpses, glitch?
MobileSuitCleb 18 Jan, 2020 @ 10:02am
Any chance of a version that allows lockpicking of interior doors?
MobileSuitCleb 18 Jan, 2020 @ 10:02am
@dru i think those are just links to he other mods, they arent included in this download. correct me if im wrong
Dru 3 Jan, 2020 @ 6:56am
Please make lockpicking as separate mod.
The reading part of this mod makes other mods not working.
Codius 31 Dec, 2019 @ 6:23am
I loaded with this one mod by itself and I cannot open my crafting menu
Oh God Spiders No 30 Dec, 2019 @ 8:20am
Can you please split this into several mods? I want the lockpicking but not the trapping, reading, or meat-jarring mechanics.
Pesinario 27 Dec, 2019 @ 7:52am
When you try to play a burglar, the cost is increased by 6 even tho other characters can get nimble fingers for just 3 points, also i dont't see why you HAVE to take nimble fingers on a burglar at the cost of points, you could just let people choose if they take the trait or not
CoW 26 Dec, 2019 @ 6:27pm
[KR]WhiteMilk and how do you do? Cause I haven't figured it out yet!
화밀 wMil 25 Dec, 2019 @ 10:27pm
I found out how to but why unable at vehicle doors D:
화밀 wMil 21 Dec, 2019 @ 9:22pm
im burglar but why I cant pick locks
I have both screwdriver and bobby pins
Ana Frango Vaporpunk 21 Dec, 2019 @ 12:35pm
Why does the Burglar profession costs 6 points more than vanilla Burglar if the Nimble Fingers trait only costs 3 points? Also, do I still have to read the magazines to pick locks if I'm not a burglar, but I got the lockpicking trait?
CoW 18 Dec, 2019 @ 10:19am
What do I need to equip? The options do not appear to me, neither equipping the screwdriver nor equipping the bobby pin =(
I'm playing a version 41

Edgar Lindner 18 Dec, 2019 @ 2:55am
Great mod!
I only think bobby pins should not weigh 0.1 kg
VelxraTV 16 Dec, 2019 @ 7:02pm
finally this mod has returned! lets hope the author maintains it.
MeTaLAnGeR  [author] 15 Dec, 2019 @ 5:19pm
@outcognito
Thanks man! :)
@roseigin
You're basically just unlucky. The mod make you open doors/windows, what comes after that it's up to the game. In other words, the Alarm trigger happens *after* you step in the house, not while Lockpicking.
roseigin 15 Dec, 2019 @ 10:39am
does picking the lock increase the chances of the alarm going off or am i just extremely unlucky? lol
outcognito 15 Dec, 2019 @ 12:52am
@MeTaLAnGeR man, i totally get you with the work and stuff, December is the hottest month of the year in terms of stress. Take your time to chill
MeTaLAnGeR  [author] 14 Dec, 2019 @ 4:48pm
@outcognito
I will see what I can do. I've been offline most these days cuz I'm having too much stress at work atm. As soon everything "cool off" I'll start messing with the code again, and see what it can be done. :)
Hairy.Mario 14 Dec, 2019 @ 3:21pm
I second @outcognito petition
outcognito 14 Dec, 2019 @ 2:01pm
Can you provide a version with bow included? Wilhelm's Wilderness Improvements was that one mod i enjoyed before 41 build and now there is no more magic. I tried to port it myself, but without a proper understanding of how to work with weapons i was pretty much defeated :/
ne_propheta 11 Dec, 2019 @ 3:22am
Hi again :steamhappy: thanks for the response.
Unfortunately, even with a totally new game I cannot see any benefit neither in reading speed and/or reading while walking :steamsad:
Thanks anyway!
MeTaLAnGeR  [author] 10 Dec, 2019 @ 3:22pm
@GuildedCharr LOL thanks for the headsup, copying links on Steam is just cancer.
GuildedCharr 10 Dec, 2019 @ 1:42pm
Just a note, your link to Used Cars is the same as Necroforge's.
Dansy 10 Dec, 2019 @ 9:09am
Great mod, thank you! With new burglar buff it is such a fun way to play)
al 10 Dec, 2019 @ 6:07am
Cars made before 2000's were especially prone to "lockpicking" through window and weather stripping which was very achievable for any individuals with bare minimum skill. But I guess it would be too much of a bother since you did mention that codes related to vehicles are simply not documented enough or very hard to work with.
MeTaLAnGeR  [author] 9 Dec, 2019 @ 8:01pm
@ne_propheta Hi,
My Bookworm is different from the other one (code-wise), so you gotta or start a new game, or re-sub to the old bookworm. :)
ne_propheta 9 Dec, 2019 @ 1:13pm
Hi boss, I cannot see the "Bookworm" trait among the others.
I had the Bookworm mod installed previously, but now I've only your mod (I unsub from Bookworm also).
So I cannot read while walking (not running, I know :P ) and reading is slow as much as vanilla (no Fast Reader trait picked).

I don't see strange errors on console log :steamsad:
MeTaLAnGeR  [author] 9 Dec, 2019 @ 11:06am
Hi @Billy, yes as stated in the description you'd need to read the "Burglar Magazine" vol.1 for lockpicking.
@Meby and @Timmotus, the original idea for the mod was to be sort a "collection" of updated mods together (like a small scale hydrocraft), since I didn't figure out a better name and lockpick was the biggest chunk of it, stayed like this.
meby 9 Dec, 2019 @ 10:37am
Hello thank you for the mod! I agree with a previous poster that the mods should be separated! Otherwise this is awesome :)
Billy 9 Dec, 2019 @ 4:32am
Another question, do you need to read a magazine or something to pick doors, because I have both a screwdriver and bobby pins and no option to do so.
Timmotus 8 Dec, 2019 @ 4:17pm
So this looks really great and I'll probably try it out sometime, though I have a thing to say before trying out this mod:

The name of the mod is about lockpicking, why is other stuff like updating the bookworm trait or foraging/trapping changes included, this all has nothing to do with lockpicking. I suggest separating these parts or calling the mod something else.

Other than that, great work! Keep it up! :)
MeTaLAnGeR  [author] 8 Dec, 2019 @ 9:18am
@unholycowgod, hello!
Well, about that I have 2 things to say. The first is that lockpicking a car in real life is extremely complicated, requires "professional" tools (expensive ones), and varies for each type of car one is trying to break in. In USA this is even worse.:lunar2019deadpanpig:
The second is, ingame the vehicle system is a complete different and apart from the rest of the game code. I didn't really find it, and even if I did I dont think I'd be able to do much.
I'd please ask you to see this as "realism", since in real life a car door is way different than your traditional neighborhood doors.
unholycowgod 8 Dec, 2019 @ 7:08am
If it's possible, can the lockpicking be extended to vehicles as well? It'd be great to be able to get into cars without needing the key or breaking a window.
Rahburry 8 Dec, 2019 @ 5:35am
I really love this one man, Thanks much
Rannug[DK] 8 Dec, 2019 @ 3:02am
thanks, this is great.
