As a person with object permanence I enjoyed it!
Dell 10 Sep @ 9:40pm
The use of invisible triggers on this map was extremely frustrating to deal with, not the "makes you smarter" kind of frustrating, the "I have terrible object permanence and anything I don't see doesn't exist" kind. Every time I would bring a cube over to the other side, I would forget the fizzlers were automatic, destroy one of the cubes on accident, and would have to start the whole test over as a result. Please don't ever use automatic fizzlers again, or if you do decide to keep using them, leave a visual indication of where the trigger_multiple boundaries are so people with ADHD have a visual reminder that they exist, otherwise our brains discard the trigger's existence from our memory, resulting in the situation I just described.

Thank you for the recommendation. Both chambers are genius, and quite inspiring. Thank you once again.
Mikeastro  [author] 22 Mar @ 5:51pm
@Crimson Pheonix I appreciate your dedication! You might be interested to check out this map which somehow completely blew this implementation of the same concept out of the water... I think it's genius!
Crimson Phoenix 22 Mar @ 4:59pm
Alright, I've played this test so many times now that I have become obsessed with the concept, but I don't have enough brain cells to recreate something like this without just copying some one else. I've played this chamber enough times that I don't make any mistakes anymore though, which makes me happy and all the more satisfied.
Crimson Phoenix 24 Aug, 2024 @ 2:48pm
BTW, N=4 was what drove me crazy. Still good though.
Crimson Phoenix 24 Aug, 2024 @ 2:45pm
I really liked the puzzle, despite it taking me a very long time to complete. Honestly, there was nothing that felt more satisfying than the reward at the end of the extra hard puzzle. I don't usually like a long puzzle like this that drives me almost insane, but this one was different. Thank you for the puzzle, and keep up the good work.

Really satisfying to find the algorithm! After a bit I didn't even know what I was doing and was just bhopping around while my brain was in automatic.
StackSmasher789 7 Apr, 2024 @ 7:12am
A ton of running in this. Bunnyhopping is the quickest way to solve this if you already know the algorithm.
QuickSinger21 27 Jan, 2024 @ 2:21pm
I like this it's fun if you know how to count in binary
Probably John 5 Dec, 2023 @ 3:35pm
Cool map and cool concept, but n=4 was too much I think...
Mr Fab 26 Dec, 2022 @ 12:15am
10/10 would Hanoi again

Very creative chamber! The Hanoi structure definitely checks out. I'm sure someone could formalize the type of structure you can get out of Portal 2 to describe what ideas can be translated into this format, but maybe that wouldn't be worth the time, haha. I am curious to see how 2*3^(n-1)-1 is reached by generalizing, though; maybe I'll come back some day.

@Andy T The 'Hanoi' comes from the fact that actually executing the solution for a large tower size is 'Hannoying'
Andy T 15 Aug, 2021 @ 12:15am
OK, I do wonder why the game is called Tower of Hanoi? I can understand the Tower, no idea why Hanoi.
kwinten 7 Oct, 2020 @ 9:05am
this is a great idea ! (this is not the best implementation i can imagine, but with PTI only that seems fair enough), thumbs up !
Mikeastro  [author] 2 Oct, 2020 @ 4:45am
@freddiPhil Thank you :] I'm glad you enjoyed this silly map
freddiPhil 1 Oct, 2020 @ 8:15am
Really nice implementation of the hanoi tower principle. Thank you for that experience.
Mikeastro  [author] 6 Sep, 2020 @ 10:26am
@meowmini Thanks a lot for playing! I'm happy to hear that you liked it :]
meowmini 6 Sep, 2020 @ 8:01am
My friend recommended it to me.
I really realized the feeling of Hanoi tower.
Not difficult, but awesome.
Mikeastro  [author] 22 Jul, 2020 @ 4:52am
@Asd417 Haha thanks. Indeed, that second room is optional for a good reason... :p
asd417 22 Jul, 2020 @ 4:49am
props for coming up with the mechanic that simulates Hanoi pretty well. But 14 companion cubes were not worth the labor...
Mikeastro  [author] 15 Jul, 2020 @ 1:47pm
@BehindPortal Thank you so much! I'm really happy to hear that you could appreciate this :]
BehindPortal 15 Jul, 2020 @ 7:51am
wonderful puzzle. room 1 i solved in normal manner, and room 2 i solved in fast forward. sometimes i feel its deja vu. exit with companion cube :p2blue:fav:p2cube::p2orange:
Mikeastro  [author] 21 Dec, 2019 @ 6:03pm
@Spacekitten97 Thanks for playing once more :D Indeed, once you have figured out the pattern, all that remains to be done is just executing the algorithm. I'm glad you liked it
SpKi 21 Dec, 2019 @ 4:33pm
Really cool map. The sequence took me a bit to figure out but after that it was just the execution, which took what felt like forever - I sometimes lost track of everything in the 2nd room :P. But overall an interesting map. Thumbs up.
Spider_Dawg 18 Dec, 2019 @ 4:44am
@Mikeastro I can't speak for anyone else, but I felt like I would be missing something if I didn't turn left.
Mikeastro  [author] 17 Dec, 2019 @ 1:52am
@Spider_Dawg Haha thanks :) Honestly, I'm surprised to hear that so many people actually went through the effort of completing the second room. It was optional for a reason xD
Spider_Dawg 16 Dec, 2019 @ 6:53pm
Ditto the sentiment about being glad there wasn't a third room, I would have thrown something. Was tempting to skip to next test chamber once figuring out the sequence, but I stuck it out and finished. There are 10 kinds of people playing this puzzle: those who understand the comment by @•‹†ρđ› ĐūšР2ķ• , and those who don't. On second thought, anybody playing this would understand it. Nice job, well done.
Mikeastro  [author] 10 Dec, 2019 @ 1:03pm
@•‹†ρđ› ĐūšР2ķ• Excellent! Once you figure out the sequence, all that's left is executing the algorithm. Thanks for sticking with the map the whole journey :]
•‹†ρđ› ĐūšР2ķ• 10 Dec, 2019 @ 12:32pm
I took both rooms as a man! After a while you get a hang for it. It's like counting in binary ;)
Leo 7 Dec, 2019 @ 4:47am
Well now I have a bit more context about that meme. Just a tiny bit.
Mikeastro  [author] 7 Dec, 2019 @ 4:07am
@Leomievs Thanks!
Leo 7 Dec, 2019 @ 3:21am
Nice implementation! Surprising how many moves it takes. I must say I noclipped a lot too, because as you said in response to jandlml's comment: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bFEoMO0pc7k
Mikeastro  [author] 5 Dec, 2019 @ 3:59pm
@asears16 Thanks a lot for playing! I enjoyed watching you speed around carrying cubes over and over and back again :D I'm really glad you enjoyed it. Also, why kill all the lovely cubes ;_;
asears16 5 Dec, 2019 @ 3:05pm
Brilliant execution of the Towers of Hanoi concept, Mike! There was a lot of running around and moving of cubes, but I managed to complete both rooms. Oh, and I fizzled every companion cube, too. :P

Blind run: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pqhvJGSJjms
Mikeastro  [author] 26 Nov, 2019 @ 1:02pm
@The Anti-Ninja Haha yeah that would have been too sadistic, even for me :p Thanks for playing!
@Narkodes Lol hmm...
@maggot.macdonald I love and hate you too :p Thanks for playing
maggot.macdonald 24 Nov, 2019 @ 10:59pm
I didn't take notice of the chamber title. After a few moves I thought to myself - "this is towers of Hanoi".
I love you and hate you at the same time.
Thank god you didn't make me do it a third time.
Victory road was nice BTW.
Narkodes 23 Nov, 2019 @ 9:00pm
@Mikeastro: "that no-one should ever include in the intended solution of their puzzles" - someone could take this as a request.

Joking aside, I don't like that move. But in a map where it is kinda obvious (when you have no portal-gun for example, but need a cube on the other side of a fizzler), it's okay...
Joking aside, it's bullshit.

Unless it's part of a Narkodes map.
The Anti-Ninja 23 Nov, 2019 @ 5:17pm
Very fun! If it had dropped down again, to an even deeper basement, I would have cried. Thanks for creating!
Teo 23 Nov, 2019 @ 3:24pm
@Quixote
Or, for maximum efficiency, just use it to fly to the exit ;)
Quixote 23 Nov, 2019 @ 9:36am
@jandlml You totally can cheat with it. With the boxes off the buttons the fizzlers are off. Just fly them side to side. And also get a portal gun. But then again that is cheating and takes away the fun.
Dark Rozen 23 Nov, 2019 @ 6:28am
5 cubes version when?
Mikeastro  [author] 23 Nov, 2019 @ 4:07am
@bullfrog Haha thanks :] I'm glad you liked it
bullfrog 23 Nov, 2019 @ 4:04am
Excellent puzzle; I love it, even though I'm not entirely sure how I did it! Definite thumbs up.
Mikeastro  [author] 23 Nov, 2019 @ 2:37am
@Nobody No-One If only the monks had host_timescale 6x in the story... Thanks for playing.
@Oblivious Owl Hmm... Sadly I do not know nearly enough about such complexity problems to give an educated answer to your question. Maybe someone else knows...
@Teo Haha thanks! No-one forced you to play the extra room you know :p I'm glad that you appreciated the implementation :D
Teo 22 Nov, 2019 @ 7:24pm
woah, after looking up the Towers of Hanoi, this is a truly genius adaptation. I can see why Joric added it to his best of collection !
Teo 22 Nov, 2019 @ 7:18pm
probably the most repetitive map I've ever played but still liked. even after I got down the process I had to do it still took a long time, especially the extra room :P . Cool concept for sure
Oblivious Owl 22 Nov, 2019 @ 4:55pm
@Mikeastro True, but implementing it into portal must have taken some thought too!
This map makes me wonder (assuming you could make maps as big as possible, although I know that's impossible) if portal puzzles could be turing complete if all elements of a puzzle were automated.
Nobody No-One 22 Nov, 2019 @ 4:21pm
Kind of tedious but host_timescale 6x made it bearable. Cool concept.
