I can't wait for this! I hope this and the project fallout come back. The more I can turn rimworld into Fallout the better!

About animal-like bots:
I'd say, bots don't need to be smarter per-se, as there are already mods for controlling animals, like Kill for Me, so you can basically outsource that :D
They only need to be buildable, have animal stats like trainability and wildness (you can think of those as whether the bot is complex enough to do certain tasks, and hove much it requires additional maintance), and add a job for "programming" bots, which would replace handling for them.

I'm no RimWorld modder myself, but from general gamedev experience it does seem doable without much hustle.

I believe the royalty abilities framework is in the base game, so you could just make it an ability of the Assaultron.

@BLUE EYED Гино I misunderstood what you said earlier and I see what you meant now. So in the past I had offered to buy the rights to use the C# code and they never responded back to me. Also to everyone else, I have added a number of quality of life changes and am still trying to figure out the C# on the Face lasers the assaultrons use. After I solve that I am ready to release (or I could release it before I fix it and just remove it until later)

@RamRod Android tiers is the name of the mod.
I'm not really familiar with the way mods work in rimworld but aren't you able to like cannibalize it through picking though the files?

The somewhat short descripion is : they run on energy which you can load from the power cables in ya base. ( i think they use something like a conductor ) they use plating and have their own limb replacements and organs. They do not count as " organic " anymore . The endgame buildings of it would be really really awesome with this mod . You could "store" your character in a pod , and remotely control said robots in your base. You know ... like mr house :D it would also take a load of your back with the whole balancing thing. All ya kinda have to do is to not allow them to wear appearel and figure out what kind of stats the races specifically should have. ( and their contruction costs) i can highly recommend your to fiddle around with it in debug ingame to somehwat get a feeling for it .

I can understand that man. Maybe armor upgrades that give more protection from a certain types of damage (more blunt but less sharp) or super heavy armor that weighs down the unit so it's super slow? Just ideas.

Your comment about trade offs actually makes me think of the Trait system from New Vegas. Love that system (though Wild Wasteland never felt like a trade off cause I almost always ended up picking it).

@swordsensei I am not a huge fan of tiered systems I usually prefer having pros and cons rather than arbitrary 3 is better than 2 stuff. I like having people make trade offs.

@swordsensei I will take a look at the robot DLC from 4 and see if I can snag some ideas like weapons or armor from it. I never played it myself but it might be fun.

Upgrades? Hmm, I'd probably go with tiered armor upgrades (say 3 or so) with better armor every tier, more accuracy, more dps for the guns or more damage; basically anything that would go with an rpg system (i.e something similar to the prosthetics mods like Epoe but just for the Robots). That's just me; I realize that's a lot of work!

Hell, I'd even think it would be cool if the Protectrons or Robo brains (if you decide to implement them, no pressure!) could learn psychic abilities through Royalty. Not necessarily lore friendly but having a Protectron use Chaos skip or Vertigo would be pretty hilarious :)

How about turning them into races for the larger android mod and just giving them invisible "armor" which you can apply through surgery? that would at least solve the whole "smart animal" thing

@Chismar I appreciate the feedback! The main issue that I have with making them smarter animals is that it involves messing with the ThinkTrees which generally leads to more problems. I am more than willing to make a simpler version of the mod and if you have ways to make the mod that way I am open to advice

Been checking both yours and Verb mods like every day.

You can both go for race-specific weapons, as @swordsensei mentioned, Elder Things do have race specific weapons. As well as the mechanoids! With their built-in non-droppable weapons, though I'm not sure if this mechanic works with the robots being colonists basically.

(I would honestly love to see simpler bots, that are not colonist-like, but rather animal-like with handling replaced by programming (handling via intellectual skill). This would be compatible with animal mods like Kill for me, IIRC, allowing both for direct and indirect control over them. No pressure tho, I just want protectrons to be around :) )

I like that actually. Still keeps the weapons for the robots and only the robots. That kinda makes me think of the Rim of Madness Creature mod (I think its Elder Things or something like that) which has a similar idea (they have unique laser guns that only they can use; I remember watching it in a Let's play ages ago).

I have been patiently waiting for Verb Expansion Framework to release but I have some ideas on how to move forward. I could make it where rather than having the weapons installed onto the robots they can just wield robot/race specific weapons and normal humans can not use them. This used alongside the Dual Wield mod will still allow your robots to be usable. I would appreciate all advice, input, and opinions.

hey, so I started a fallout game with this as one of my mods. (amazing love it so much <3) but I was having a bit of a struggle getting a Protectetron to spawn with the right skin? even when I use prepare carefully they always look like Mr.Handy I'm not really sure whats going on? every other robot works great?

@RamRod Thank you, you flatter me. I just like what I see and I think that the modding community in gaming is awesome in general. Good mods can breathe new life into an old game and even make it grow in popularity. Heck, just look at Skyrim, a decent game on its own, but excellent when it's modded. And it's always great when the devs recognize the merits of the modders and cooperate with them closely, like good ol' Tynan did.

@Everyone, I started working on the updates and then realized that I still need to wait on the other mod to update, Verb Expansion Framework. I apologize for the longer wait. In the meantime I will be working on other Fallout Themed Mods.
