I like that the crucial move ( stacked sacrifice ) was done twice, but the opposite way around at the second time :-)

Why didn't you put the pedestal button closer to the piston platform? Would that be too obvious to you? This would at least shorten the way to the platform, because... you know, the first time I ran towards it I hit its corner when it still moved and so I miserably died ^^'

Plus, I'd love that cube catch to be mandatory, but it wasn't (at least one time the flinging cube had reached my level by itself).

It was so good that I went too fast and wished for more :steamthumbsup: Favorited !

@Michael Nova

How sacrilegious of me :O Good on you for coming back to this one to solve it legit, nice work! Thanks for playing
Michael Nova 16 Sep, 2022 @ 11:19am
I fizzled so many companion cubes to finally solve this chamber... This guy Teo not only creates a map in which you can fizzle a companion cube, but also makes the test unsolvable without murdering more than one sentient cube. You monster.
But in all seriousness, great chamber!
Michael Nova 15 Sep, 2022 @ 4:55pm
Lol while I was trying to solve this chamber I ended up triggering the crouch fly glitch and just floated to the exit. I will definitely solve it for real eventually tho :)

Played this one before I started commenting. Still very good, and a great example of a ton of fundamental funnel techniques which I've seen reappear in other maps and even in my own work.

I don't know how you come up with these puzzles. I never could have solved this one on my own. And I have a PhD in mechanical engineering.

Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it

This puzzle is straight up genius. Only once I realized I could use what I had deduced must be the final move elsewhere, did I solve the puzzle. Instant favorite.

@Gabriel Bacon
Thanks for playing and good job being persistent. I designed this puzzle for people that already knew of that move, but I'm glad you were able to derive it from the setup :)
Gabriel Bacon 17 Feb, 2021 @ 6:09pm
Well that's something I've never seen before! Each step took me a long time, but particularly the "important" step. Very clever & satisfying, great puzzle, thank you for making it. The only reason I even thought of that move is by deducing it to be the only possibility for the final elevator sequence. No doubt It would have taken me even longer otherwise.

@Festive Determinated
Damn you Portal 2 and your nonsensical physics engine! Glad you still were able to enjoy the map :) I haven’t considered working on a mod before, but multiroom maps are definitely something I’ve thought about. Having to make each map flow into the next adds a fun new layer to designing. Thanks for playing!
Dire Domino 20 Dec, 2020 @ 10:31pm
Fantastic use of this concept, this would be a great intro room in a mod imo. I am sad to say that I had the same issue that Libby did however :sadcyclops:

@Jinx136
Thanks for playing and good job solving this one! I tried my best to minimize unnecessary obscurity to make this more accessible than some of my other puzzles, and I’m glad my efforts paid off :)
Jinx136 4 Nov, 2020 @ 8:39am
Even though I had no previous knowledge of using cube stacking & fizzling for puzzles, this puzzle suggests its' usage by suggesting that multiple cubes are needed for the solution, so I discovered the trick just fine. The puzzle was designed nicely to suggest the solution to the player, hence why the puzzle isn't too difficult to solve. Otherwise, it could have taken a LOT of time to figure out the solution.

Added to favourites. Great job making this level, and thanks for the fun! :steamhappy:

In looking at the vid, I see what you mean. Oddly enough it juggled fine every time the cube was not sent 'too high' in the funnel. After watching a couple vids from other people I see that it was an issue on my end. Portal is weird sometimes.
Teo  [author] 14 Oct, 2020 @ 6:22am
@Libbybapa
Aww man, I'm sorry about that Libby :( That never happened to me during testing and I've only seen that happen once or twice in people's playthroughs. Watching your video, it seems that the cube's path is interrupted by some magical force right as it goes through the portal, so I don't think that raising the ceiling would fix this. I honestly have no idea how to address this, I'm sorry that this kept happening to you :[
Libbybapa 13 Oct, 2020 @ 2:03pm
FWIW, I tried restarting Portal and tried the move ~30 times thinking that maybe it was a glitch and it never worked once if I sent the cube all the way to the ceiling with the funnel .
Libbybapa 13 Oct, 2020 @ 2:01pm
I just played this map and am a little sad to say I found the timing of the last move to be a total pain. Would it break anything to raise the funnel a square so that the cube doesn't hit the funnel on the fling and timing is not required ? https://youtu.be/o5-ZI5kDuMw

@Demon Arisen
Thank you so much! Indeed some mild cardio is required for the final move but I'm glad it wasn't too frustrating :P
Demon Arisen 15 Jan, 2020 @ 6:09am
Superb puzzle! Genuinely innovative, smartly designed, neatly laid out. I had to try a couple of times to get the execution right near the end, but it was no problem. Great work, Teo! :)

Really cool puzzle with some neat moves. Cube stacking usually takes me a pretty long while to see, but surprisingly enough, I was able to solve this one pretty quickly. Happy birthday by the way! Funnily enough, my birthday is one the same day as yours.

I remember sometime during mapping that you liked cube stacking :P , glad you liked it
Teo  [author] 24 Oct, 2019 @ 6:27pm
@可砸的六度双音 @Mikeastro I think I agree with that perspective; I guess it's up to the mapmaker whether they are after an unbreakable map or just a clean puzzle that gives players a logical conundrum to work through if they so choose. I'll keep the map as it is for now :]
Leo 24 Oct, 2019 @ 3:53am
Brilliant puzzle, clever and fun! Great work :)
Polux 21 Oct, 2019 @ 2:19pm
Fun little puzzle.
However, we can quite easily throw the cc on the weighted button from the piston plateform ...
Thumbs up.

Very nice puzzle - got me on the cube fizzle timing didn't see that. Well done. Thanks for creating.
