If you enable NTFS file compression on Ark, it reduces the size of ark by quite a bit. For me it went from 408 GB to 248 GB. As long as you're not running on a potato you shouldn't notice any performance issues.
Ark dev kit went from 346 GB to 284 GB. I doesn't seem any slower to me.
ARK is fucking huge. Having it and the devkit installed takes up a quarter of my drive space. Sometimes I want to do other things, y'know?
What's currently there should still be fairly functional.
would recomend it <3
With this comes the ability for the UI to display the listed diet of the targeted creature. For most creatures, this can be found dynamically just fine, but some of them don't have this field set (e.g. the rock elemental). For those, I have an override system set up, and have manually gone through and added the relevant creatures and their proper diets. However, I might have missed some, so if you do spot anything with an incorrect diet listed, please tell me and I'll add it.
In future, I'll have it set up to use a config entry, so that it can be customised on your end (which will also allow you to add mod creatures to it). For now, it's just hard-coded.
I think, if I were to implement that, I'd keep the spyglass as-is. I do like the thought of adding a bit more to the v1 binoculars since, at the moment, they're really just a more expensive spyglass.
I plan to add the GPS coordinates to the v1 binocs soon (currently, they're tied in with the dino stat display, so it needs a little bit of rejigging), so I think I'll investigate possible implementations while I'm on with that. No guarantees though.
If you are… I would love to see a weaker version of the dino stat viewer for the lower tier versions.
Something like the spyglass tells you the highest stat and the lowest stat (by name, not value) so you can weed out the puny looking dinos but not know exactly what the stats are.
Maybe Binoculars v1 could order all the stats high to low, but again not give numbers. Players would be able to weed out some of the dinos, but not to the extent that v2 lets players.
It's supposed to take a significant portion of your current health, and can kill you if you're extremely low on health (<10). Were there any damage-multiplying effects active, or sources of damage over time?

I love the sense of progression with multiple binoculars at different levels instead of just one powerful spyglass like how other mods do it.
If I can figure out a way to do it without breaking everything, I'll see if I can add a numerical display on top of the bars somewhere.
Turns out if you have multiple mods trying to add engrams to the same crafting station, it will only add those from the top mod in the list. This makes the entire feature absolutely useless (the whole point of it is supposed to be to allow multiple mods to add their engrams without conflicting), and as far as I can tell it has been broken this way for at least 4 years.
But hey, at least we now have space whales. Thanks, Wildcard.
So in future versions, everything will be crafted in-hand. That, at least, works reliably. I hope.
Thank you for the great mod!
Apologies about the confusion there; in the devkit, "alt-fire" refers to this bind, whereas I see now that the aim bind is also referred to as "alt-fire" in-game.
It says to use the 'Alt-Fire' button while looking through the binoculars to activate the creature detector, but I have to press and hold alt fire to even look through the binoculars in the first place. So I am not sure how I could activate it?
Tried on a mounted dino since that auto-zooms in, but it only made me use my mount's secondary attack.
Thanks a lot
Maybe in a few months, if I get an extra terabyte or two of storage (or if Wildcard finally start compressing their fukken game), I'll come back to ARK modding.
Also, when viewing a player, it shows the players details like name, tribe name, level would also be helpful.
Right now the only thing that I can think of right now is owning tribe, personal owner for dinos and structure details like tribe name, personal owner (if one), decay timer, whether it can be demolished etc. We use your mod on our PVP server and its AMAZING, just wish we had those other options too so when we are scouting a base we don't have to carry two different types of "spy" gear.
That sounds like an issue with the S+ fabricator, I doubt it's something I could fix within CupVision. It could also be the same bug that's causing things to not appear properly in regular crafting stations, which is really annoying. I may make some kind of patch soon that adds all the engrams to the player inventory, as a workaround to these stupid problems.
@Ink
Good point - there are still a few things missing from the display that might be nice to know. Owning tribe, personal owner, anything else?
I totally forgot about the structure details. It never seemed that useful, but I can throw it in too if it's something people really want.
