Yeah, no, I'm aware. Problem is, I can't figure out why the archetype isn't working. I keep trying, and I'm going to keep trying, but I'm pretty much at a loss at how to make that happen.

Oh yeah, hate to tell you this but you forgot to add the wizard archetype

Grandmamancy is costlier than Beklam's Diminishing Calculus, and actually seems to be worse. To converge it, add a melee damage debuff if you didn't already and let it do some transmutative damage. To distinguish it, maybe make it have an additional effect of -6 HP and -3 armor and -2 pierce resistance, making it a kind of defense-eating alternative. Another way to distinguish would be for it to be a stun. That would be quite amazing and you could then floor it at 9 MP and raise the cost.

Kaidelong, thank's a lot for the feedback, I've made plans to change the skills around a bit and I've put down my current ideas for changes in the Version 1 discussion thread. Granted, I didn't do much in the way of turning the skill tree into a trap/debuff focused tree like you suggested, but I do like the idea quite a bit. Maybe that should be its own skill tree? One of us could make that happen, I'm sure.

Dreams of Future Cookie allows players to trade mana for experience points and a powerful trap to carry around. Traps are neat cause they can be used without using up a turn, and this one is particularly strong. Why not instead have it be a DoT that has a chance of transmuting monsters into cookies, damaging it, or putting it to sleep? Elders Elect is just the squid bolt, and is substantially cheaper and better than Tenebrous Rift. Why not make it cheaper but confined to a much smaller area of one-hit spell mines, something like My Chemical Explosion? For scent of cookie, charming in a spell isn't actually that useful, why not permanent="1" spell mines that cause confusion in a 3x3 radius to throw monsters off your track? Inflicting debuffs and having small AoE minelaying spells would be a solid theme for this as a wizard skill.

This skill tree is not really overpowered with the high mana costs and the fact that it completely lacks an archetype! You don't improve at all when buying levels of this skill except for the listed bonuses. Grandmamancy doesn't work, please fix and make the first skill level, it'd be nice to have a decent debuffing skill as a starting spell. Make this skill wizard archetype, get rid of the timer summoned cookie because "cast this spell every n turns" is a horrible mechanic and GLG should be ashamed that they bought it back for banksterism after removing it from Fungal Arts. Make Bag of Cookie a passive, good idea perhaps is that it provides 1 necromantic resistance and has a chance of self-damaging you for transmutative and spawning a cookie when you cast. Why not make elder whispers into an active spell that further debuffs enemies?

I'll be nerfing the skill tree a bit, and that'll definitely be addressed when I publish the update.
Haldurson 22 Oct, 2013 @ 4:51pm
Elder Whispers looks really overpowered. Maybe change it to a short-lived buff (like 6 charges, reuse at about 30 or 40 turns or so?). I'm not sure exactly how much to nerf it to make it in keeping with abilities of that tier. But right now it's a little bit too amazing (maybe as a top-tier skill it would be ok also).
Destijl  [author] 22 Oct, 2013 @ 2:13pm
Yeah I'm thinking should probably update it to reduce the amount of bonus magic reflection that it gives.

The favor of Elder Gods increases perception, so eye sight.

Kaidelong 22 Oct, 2013 @ 2:19am
