those are the maximums typically the fine is much smaller like a few thousand since this isnt actually hurting anyones income, same with jail time which isnt likely to happen at all lol. Just reposting what you saw on an old VHS tape doesnt mean thats how it works and even then it will depend on if the trolls are even US citizens since US laws dont apply to anyone outside of the us or isnt a citizen. Never mind the actual cost the person who wants to get this in court will have to take

Its Mostlikely Some Group Trying to "Protect The Kids" Or A Rogue Group Of 4chan Users

Alright I will like to address what happened it has come to my attention and hopefully that of Steam that unfortunately it has indeed been confirmed that what happened yesterday and the day before that was indeed part of a malicious attack by an as of yet unknown individual or group who actively abused Steam's copyright system and in turn abused the DMCA in an attempt to have mods on so many games taken down. An attack like this is something that we should watch out for and I hope that Steam does implement a stricter copyright system to where copyright claims could be manually reviewed so that a copyright claim could be determined if it is legitimate or not and that anyone abusing the copyright system will be properly investigated and banned from Steam. At this time I am urging caution and if you see that a mod has received a copyright claim then it should be treated with suspicion as it will never be clear if it is a legitimate copyright claim or a false copyright claim.

Alright the whole situation has been resolved and non of the other mods I've subscribed to have a DMCA notice so I'm confident that everything has been taken care of now

Looks like the issue has been resolved I'm going to go through my subscriptions and see if any mods still have a DMCA notice and if not then I will report back in here
