There are more than two.

Found two spelling mistakes in skill descriptions...

Fair enough! If you like it better with the large maluses, then keep it that way! We can learn to deal with it. I just wanted to offer an opinion, but I'm no modder!

Im glad to hear you find the weaknesses particulary affecting. If you're looking for an alternate build to open doors and get exp and get a challange and like sneakiness, by all means try this mod. If not, either download it and balance it to your own wishes in the local file. I have played alot with it now and I'm confident that the weaknesses are suitably horrible at the moment :)

I think losing ~10 sneakiness overall and reducing the trap affinity malus to -1 is perfectly balanced. As-is, 32 sneakiness is very large compared to other trees, and many of the "vanilla" trees have no or only one negative statistic. On top of the -1 sight radius (which is also a huge negative aspect), it does not seem like an appealing tree to use unless you want to have infinite sneakiness or something. Just a thought.

Thanks, I'm glad you like it.

XD this is hilaroius good job
Monsterbitar  [author] 16 Oct, 2013 @ 9:57pm
ZanithQuasar: It is a strong penalty but also comes with alot of good usable skills. In the end it's just an option as is everything else. The -3 trap affinity is easily solved by taking multiple skills that all give a little trap affinity in themselves or just going for the tinkerer/engineer job that has alot of trap affinity.
ZenithQuasar 16 Oct, 2013 @ 2:19pm
The mere thought of -3 trap affinity makes it unpalatable for me.

Dangah: I fiddled around a bit with it and think that the current version of social drinking might be more fun to play with. Also gave me a nice little reference text to another game I loved when I was younger :D

I know you get mana from the booze. I'm suggesting something additional, maybe more magic regen, so you gain more mana on top of that. Whatever you implement, i can test it.
Monsterbitar  [author] 5 Oct, 2013 @ 11:34am
Dangah: when drinking you generally gain mana from the drink itself, maybe it would be more suitable if I added magic power or haywire chance to the social drinking buff?
five nights at felonys 5 Oct, 2013 @ 9:57am
I just thought of this. If you want it to be more useful to wizards, you could add some mana gain to the social drinking buff, which would also thematicly make sense.

Good luck :crafting: the mod.

Von Krieger: Thanks, updated in my local copy and will get fixed when I do the next release.
Von Krieger 4 Oct, 2013 @ 1:53pm
Just a spelling quibble "a lot" is always two words, not one. The tooltip for Strong Reputation has the incorrect "alot" spelling.
five nights at felonys 4 Oct, 2013 @ 12:01pm
Awesome. The point of alchemy has been the main reason to choose this over burglary, but now this seems on par with, or close to burglary.
Monsterbitar  [author] 3 Oct, 2013 @ 10:09pm
One change I have been considering for a while now is to add a healing-over-time for the top-tier skill backdoor to make it even more useful as a getaway. Something like +99 hp regen so you gain one health on every step while invisibility lasts. (and possible +99 mp regen so you gain 8 mp as well, to make it more friendly to be put in non-warrior/rogue builds)
Monsterbitar  [author] 3 Oct, 2013 @ 10:06pm
Dangah: I made an update the 1st of october to lower the impact of the negative parts of the tree that should've automatically happened on your end. That update changes the passive stat totals for the tree to:

+32 sneakiness
+1 alchemy
-3 trap affinity
-1 sight range

The active buffs also gives the following benefits:

Social Drinking: when drinking, applies a stacking buff with +10 dodge, -5 magic resistance, -3 block for 20 turns, stackable up to 3 times.

Fabricate News: when activating, applies a non-stacking buff with +5 magic resistance, +2 armor and removes all negative buffs.

Backdoor: when activating, applies a nonstacking buff that makes you invisible for 8 turns.
five nights at felonys 3 Oct, 2013 @ 3:21pm
Stat totals for the tree:
32 sneakiness
-5 trap afffinity
-2 sight range
1 alchemy

I did underestimate how good the point of alchemy is. It does make this tree more powerful.
So far, i still feel a few stat points would be good.

Kaiderlong: burglary is superior in some ways, but it enforces a different playstyle. Some people prefer the tons of loot it gives, some prefer the high amount of sneakiness this gives. It's mostly a matter of taste.
Monsterbitar  [author] 3 Oct, 2013 @ 9:22am
Dangah: Magic resistance is both reasonable and fitting. It is also alraedy included in the fabricate news buff, although probably too weak. Let me know when you've had a slightly better playthough and tried out both the social drinking and the fabriate news buffs.
Kaidelong 3 Oct, 2013 @ 9:14am
Looking at this makes me think "burgulary is superior in almost every concievable way".
five nights at felonys 2 Oct, 2013 @ 3:32pm
Also, it may need a few points of stats somewhere. Maybe a Debate Training thing that gives some counterattack and caddishness, Maybe a bit of magic resistance.
five nights at felonys 2 Oct, 2013 @ 3:30pm
Do you want to balance it for going rogue or dwarvish? My first run was on GR.
five nights at felonys 2 Oct, 2013 @ 3:29pm
Alright, i will try a few more runs. My first was cut short by an unfortunate gargoyle bolt.
Monsterbitar  [author] 1 Oct, 2013 @ 10:54pm
For those interested I'm working on two more skilltrees that has "open doors" as their 2nd skill. One magician tree and one warrior tree. (There is enough loot in the game without burglary but there's not enough lockpicks without burglary)
Monsterbitar  [author] 1 Oct, 2013 @ 10:53pm
@marshmallowcello: Both of your concerns is already fixed, although I havent had time to update the screenshots. If you look at the change notes you can see that it only gives -3 trap affinity and -1 vision now.

@dangah: Thanks. If you played a few rounds with it and still feel that it is underpowered compared to the burglary skill tree I am more than willing to buff it up a bit given that the the boosts are for utility/defense and not damage.
five nights at felonys 1 Oct, 2013 @ 4:23pm
Feels underpowered, but it is awesome flavor wise
TransGoat 1 Oct, 2013 @ 1:47pm
I feel like the -2 sight/-5 trap affinity to the tree is what makes it way underpowered for what it is, given there's so few ways to increase sight radius and how valuable sight is. Adding a lot of Savvy or Stubborness to the skills would help. Maybe start with some custom headgear w/ +3 sight to combat the short sightedness (but has some big penalty like -5 burliness/-5 sagacity so it's pretty useless)
Monsterbitar  [author] 30 Sep, 2013 @ 11:06pm
@Mhodecai: Thanks, I've fixed it in my source and it will be released as soon as I fix the issue with the negative buff not applying from social drinking.

@Haldurson: In some aspects it probably is. I wanted to have an alternative to the using burglary in every build (because xp gain from doors is worth more than taking not-burglary) so I decided to make a skill tree with the same skill in it but different cost/penalty. With burglary my cost is a tree that isnt fun to level after lucky pick and that makes me play the game differently (loot every vending machine). If you have any ideas on how it could be made stronger I will gladly take those into consideration.
Mhodecai 30 Sep, 2013 @ 8:49pm
There's a typo on the description for the Public Opinion skill. Shouldn't it be "you're" instead of "your"?
Haldurson 30 Sep, 2013 @ 9:44am
It seems kind of underpowered just at first glance.
