Thanks for being so open about this and allowing me to examine your addon. To be fair the sound issue is really not that noticeable during the heat of killing zombies. I just happened to notice it in an instant because I usually try out all new L4D2 mods on test maps like Tumtara which are really quiet most of the time.

In my experiencing trying to keep it to the exact length would cause issues akin to what you're likely having, whereas making it slightly longer would just make the sound cut off at the point the original would normally end, meaning I could simply be strategic about the mixing to keep it all intact. All of my audio is like this, so why it's only happening for you on the deploy audio is curious.

I'm on a bit of a hiatus from modding at the moment but I'll note this all down for my next project when the time comes. Thank you for your research.

So I looked through your addon and I could find out that the sample "rifle_deploy_1" is causing this issue. I shortened it down to match the original sample length, compiled it into a new vpk and voilà: it works now. I really have no clue if it's just my sound card or if people just don't pay attention to these rather minor issues, but what I learned in the tutorials that got me into sound modding is that it is absolutely essential to match the original L4D2 files and every single aspect.

Hey thanks. I'mma look into the sound files, change the sample and see if it fixes the issue. I mean it's really more of a nitpick and you won't notice it in the heat of battle anyway, but I'm kind of a sound person and really sensitive to this stuff. I'll report back.

I've found it's okay to have them a tad longer, so long as they're not shorter than the original. Maybe some sound cards treat it differently. Feel free to mess with the audio that's in the vpk, see if you can pinpoint the issue. If you can find what it is, I'll try and keep it in mind for my future work.

My modding experience goes as far as creating one concert mod and two footstep mods. To me this noise sounds as if the sample for the specific sound would be a nanosecond too short or too long. But it's only a guess.

The audio I make is always designed with the standard sound cache in mind. Some people like to rebuild and customize theirs, which can spell issues for mods like mine. I don't get alot of complaints about audio, which leads me to think they are working for the standard cache as designed.

Beyond that, I couldn't tell you why they might be messed up for only certain people. The bitrate, lengths and number of channels should always be matched up to the game's regular's.

This weapon (like many of your weapons, Lt. Rocky) has the issue that there is a noticeable crackling sound when switching to it or picking it up.

True, in fact i checked most of your mods to find one, but what i'm looking for is an M21/M21 EBR from one of the call of duties with good animations (equip, and reload)

For now i only have one called COD4 M21 Real Anim (which i guess it has the original CoD animations, so until i find something better, i'll stick with that.

(actually the Tactical MK14 that Denny uploaded about a week ago was perfect, but guess what it's for the military sniper dammit!)
