the game actually has 2 blink frames by default, the first one is empty and the second one is what you usually see.
all the mod does is give a sprite to the first sprite and add an alias so it also is used as the third sprite. a fourth frame is added also so that it doesn't stall on the third frame (it does that apparently)

It's entirely clientside, save for that other clients without the mod will report a missing 4th blink frame in their log files. As far as I can tell, this is unfixable without jeopardizing what the mod does: make blinking smooth.
