Oh hey, this mod is back. Played this game years ago with this mod, unsubscribed by accident, and when I went to resubscribe, the mod was gone. Now that I'm returning to playing DoD, I am pleased to see one of my favorite mods for this game return.

Got it working again. Here's a screeny: http://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=131462235 As you can see for some reason the colors bleach out in the barrier maiden ability and are pixelated compared to the ability icon right next to it.

Its not a crash really, I just start the mod loader and it sticks on "Loading Workshop subscriptions" I've already asked about it on the steam discussions and apparenlty I'm not the only one having this problem, it'll probably be taken care of soon. As soon as I stop playing Aliens: Colonial Marines I'll give it another shot.

It is. Like I said, I dunno why it happens but I think it just might be the resolution on my monitor. It doesn't prevent the mod from working, it just looks off is all. Just wanted you to be aware of it.

Skyro, is this strictly a problem with my skill icons? That'd be kind of weird since I pretty much copied the exact dimensions of the official ones.

I've been AWOL a bit but I could brush this up now that holidays and stuff is over.

No offense meant to you, but the icons for the abilities looked really wrong on my computer. I have a resolution somewhere above 1900 and I have to enlarge the icons to see them and at that resolution yours become kind of hard to see properly. They stretch and pixelate. Just letting you know. Otherwise this seems like a nice mod.

The new DLC/Patch both have some problems. There is a hotfix for them somewhere on the forums I think. AFAIK people with US keyboard layouts don't have much to worry about.

Awesome. I feel better. Thank you. (I guess I could go over to IRC and ask there too, but they may insta-ban and kick me if I do. I honestly have no ide why I was banned. But it does not matter. My ban ends August 18th, and you can expect an abnormal amount of posts then if they do not ban me again just to rub slat in an open wound.

Either way, I am using a limited group of mods since I read something about this new DLC being a bit glitchy. (I cannot read the Gaslamp Games forums at all. So I read that elsewhere.)

AFAIK forward compatibility is a given. Haven't noticed any problem here anyway other than the spears not being polearms.

Since I am Banned from the forums without knowing why, I cannot ask there if this works with the new DLC. I am going to limit my mods to only those that confirm they work with the new version and DLC. Thanks in advance for any answers.

Aaah. I knew it was one of the two, but I had taken them in fairly rapid succession so I wasn't quite positive which one was doing what. Regardless, I think the tree really gives wizards that initial oomph they need to get started. Heh, how many wizards have I lost on the first two floors to terrible decisions and no armor? Keep it up!

XTREME! Volleyball actually doesn't summon more little wands, that's the previous skill, the tattoos. What Volleyball does is sometimes give you a temporary buff that makes you counterattack for some crushing damage for a few turns after a successful block. It scales formidably with magic power, the intent being to keep barrier maiden from deviating too far from being a wizard skill. Thanks very much for the praise by the way. I will work to make it better, still.

Been playing around with this mod a bit and I really like the way it works. The minor wards help out a lot in the earlier floors, and the major wards keep it relevant through some of the middle floors. (Haven't got farther down on many runs, I'm somewhat bad at the game) I like how promoting too many wards turns Major ward into an attack, and I noticed Xtreme Volleyball seems to summon little ones, which while giving additional defence makes it kind of into an interesting game where you have to keep an eye on how many wards you have and make sure to throw away extra ones to keep your mana regen up. Can't speak for the rest of it, as I haven't managed to get a character good enough to unlock them yet, but the tree as a whole so far is very solid and well thought out.

The buff stacks. There is no predetermined amount of hits the ward can take. Each time they get whacked (when you block) there is a chance they'll disappear. A small chance, though. The higher tier wards are less likely to overload, but I need to re-add the kill buttons to them now that they're hungry again. I'll get that in next patch.

The mana cost to keep your barriers up is confusing, and does stacking barriers just let your have the buff up for more hits or does it stack? Right now I don't use it because I can't effectively keep a barrier up early game without being constantly at 0 mana with only a single one summoned. Not sure if intended but the idea is really nice- just not my playstyle atm.

Another minor update. Nerfed mana costs too aggressively, so buffed the higher tier wards slightly to compensate.

Pushed an "emergency update" to 2.6.3 as it turns out that indeed, slashing, crushing, and blasting resistance are not used in calculating the damage you take from melee attacks.

Also yeah the vampire thing was intentional. Vampires have a rough time, although the newest expansion pack has helped them quite a bit by giving them that handy necro resist.

Oh well. I would really appreciate if you try it and give me feedback based on your experiences. This is one of the better skill mods you are going to find and I am usually pretty humble about self praise. There is a nerfing update in the works already, I've just been a tad busy with other things.

Which mana costs do you think should go up? The upkeep costs on the basic wards or the promotion costs on the advanced ones?

just the fact that it has 7 skills make it a very good skill. the absolutely most op is volleyball as you have already adressed, but also hula ward is pretty imba. however, this skill tree could be perfectly balanced, if the mana costs are high enough.
