I just wanted to note:

Every single combination is possible.
I've beaten the 4-unit jump with cube, laser cube and ball. And out of all of those the ball was the most consistent. It was hard to learn but once you know the movement to make with your mouse before releasing it you will be able to do it about 90% of the time.
