There are several types of federations and vassals now. This should be taken into account but I am not really playing Stellaris anymore. If someone want to fix this mod and reupload to steam, I can link to the new mod in this mod description.

I have not played the newest patch yet. But as far as I understand this mod still works. Please write here if something is not working. Currently I am not really into playing Stellaris, but if you tell me what is wrong, I am willing to update it.

Current version works all in all but I am working on an update.

Paradox has added descriptions why AI empires want or do not want to vote for a galactic community resolution. I have to add those descriptions/explanations for the resolutions that are added by this mod.

Also some minor tweaks: Building a mod-gateway uses megastructure build limit with current mod version. My update will fix it.
All in all: You can play with current version.

I also thought about removing the feature to build in vassal space because Paradox implemented it in vanilla. But without mod it is not possible that vassals could be allowed to build in overlord's space. So I leave it how it is.

One thing I would like is more options to force the AI to do stuff if you have power over them. Like have a federal law that every member needs to have at least 1 in their territory.

Now marked compatible with 3.2
I have never tested this with Gigastructural Engineering.
This mod just adds things to the game and not changes existing things. So this mod may be compatible with Gigastructural Engineering. Please tell me if you have any compatibility problems.

If the territory owner builds the gateway in his own space then this gateway is a non-mod gateway and has nothing to do with this mod. Since Stellaris 3.0 this mod does not change the original gateways anymore. It only adds the "Foreign Territory Gateway" and its repair variant.

The laws and policies are only respected by mod gateways. Do you have other mods active?

Maybe this is also a bug of Stellaris itself.

The gateway was around before the system was conquered, and built by owner from scratch in his own space.

I've actually been informed since this happened that all gateways have this problem if we select "vassals can build gateways" in our federation laws.

Not a known issue. Ok, some questions:
Did you repair a gateway or constructed a new one?
Was the gateway already finished before the system has been conquered?

Ran into an issue in a game I hosted using this mod where a conquered system (just one, not all of them) didn't have the gateway properly flip ownership for over a year of ingame time, allowing the enemy to invade the backline from that gateway even though the defender pushed their lines past it.

Is this a known issue?

Today I thought about platforms that the members can build without technology requirement. And then other federation members or Galactic Imperium members complete those gateways like the broken gateways... this way it is even possible to share building costs. Though the UI control would be a little ugly. (ugly like repair of gateways)

If it were me, I would have a two stage resolution. The first resolution allowing for the council to build gateways, than a second resolution, unlocked by passing the first, allowing anyone to build them. Might call them something like 'Imperial Infrastructure Plan' and 'Expand Infrastructure Plan' respectively.

Nice idea. Would make the federations really powerful in the community! One could argue, that it is too powerful.
Nevertheless this mod is mainly about gateways. One would need to make a new mod for your idea.

@Hektar The problem here is not really the load order. This mod is not adding a file but replacing an original file. The original file is called 05_gateways.txt. If I rename my file, I am no longer replacing it. Normally mods try to avoid that but in our case we couldn't find another solution.
This means: This mod is often not compatible with other mods that do something with gateways.

But am not 100% sure anymore if this is not solvable differently today.
As soon as the new DLC comes out, we will play this game again and maybe then I will look into it again.

@ZokRadonh I've been having a bit of a problem with this mod and Gigastructural Engineering. I just realized that Gigastructural Engineering updates the Gateways in a file called zz_gateways.txt this means regardless of mod load order that Gigastructural Engineering's Gateway file takes precedence. Would you be opposed to renaming your 05_gateways.txt file to zz_gateways.txt so we can at least determine which mod takes precedence by changing the mod order on our end?

This mod is not compatible as we replace the 05_gateways.txt file completely. As far as I know this is the only way we can realize this mod.

How does compatibility work with this? Mod manager says the only conflict I have is over another mod (AlphaMod) editing 05_gateways.txt, but putting Gateway Policy Federation later in the load order doesn't seem to be overwriting the way I'd assumed it would (the "Restored Gateway" option seems to work as intended, but I still can't build fresh gateways in vassal/federation territory)

A federation would then be a downgrade (without the law, which is not possible right after start).

IIRC megastructures have a property called "construction_blocks_other" before 2.6.x. Paradox added "construction_blocked_by_others" in 2.6, which u didn't update, so when building a "new" gateway it uses megastructure construction capacity, stopping me from building several megastructures at the same time.
