So i'm trying to bend as shown in your little tutorial image, but nothing will work. At first I thought it was because I was Screen, not rotation, but even switching to it doesn't work.

For anyone who is having trouble with the color of the saber, the issue is the bloom doesn't export via poster for some reason. You have to go with the export movie as PNG option.

How do you make it Glow? Whenever I spawn it in, It just looks like a long pole and doesn't glow.

As far as I know in SFM the model just glows it don't emit light and there's nothing I can do on my side to stop it from making shadows. It would only cast a shadow if you shine a light on it with shadows enabled.

Good day, I seem to have a problem with the beam, whenever I try to export my work as a poster, the beam won't show the color of the lightsaber, it only shows inner part (the white line), even though I know I can export it as an image, that causes problems with the lighting (too much reflection). Do you know if there is any way to export it as a poster without this rendering problem? Thanks!

@ThatGuySaucy Something that I've learned is if you uninstall then reinstall it can sometimes fix the textures. Something else you can do is if SFM says that there is another model messing with the textures and it gives you the option to override the old one with the new one or not you always say no. I said yes once and it really messed up one of the models I used and I had to uninstall then reinstall the model to fix it. Those are the only two things I can think of that could be messing up the textures.

Well I'm sorry to have to have to say I probably can't help you with that as a few people have reported texture problems about a few models of mine. Problems that I've never come across before and the models textures work fine on my side so I don't know how to fix it. As soon as I'm aware I'll try help you out but it's been a year or two now and I'm still clueless as to why this is happening to only a few people out of the thousands that use them.

Not sure why, but even tho i tried both ways to get the beam itself in, it still shows as all white while i use the violet skin

If you're using blender make sure there's a fair number of edge loops on the tube and if you know what weight painting is then these couple of tutorials may help:

The bones I placed at both ends have an even gradient of influence between them, Blender makes it tricky to do it in a perfectly straight line mind you.

Huh, interesting. How does the curving work? I've got a character with a bodygroup that uses tubes going from a backpack to wrists, and I'm trying to figure out how to make them curve with the arm movements without breaking them.

when i export it as a poster, the lightsaber turn white even tho i change the colour. So can anyone help me with this problem plz?

Nvm got it but top is round but I can deal with it and also 10/10 for look great on lightsaber hilts and not being so dang bright when camera is just a tad far away

Nah all I did was export > movie. Then changed mp4 to image sequence, and made it so the frames it world render was 0 and 1.

Well if you work out at least an idea for me to try out get back to me here when you can. As for now I'm off to bed and I'll be standing by. One last thing to point out is that people seem to have issues with my TF2 water, heatwave and shield refract materials too none of which have selfillum.

You have to render the image as a "Image Sequence". Most glow effects in SFM don't function as a standard poster so you have to use image sequence to get the effect to come out.

And like I've just been telling { -Wayla- } the glow does work just that for a few people it don't work on their end for some reason. It is a mystery to me as it obviously works fine on my end. If anyone can work it out and inform me what I maybe doing wrong I'll fix all my models with this issue.

No, no, no. I didn't say YOUR model was taken from Gmod.. I said the model that was working was taken from it. And I tried the Bloom Scale already.. And literally any other sliders.

First off this model wasn't taken from Gmod i made it from scratch in blender. I don't port stuff anyway.

Secondly the glow does work just that for a few people it don't work on their end for some reason or people who are relatively new to SFM haven't tried out the "bloom scale" slider on the camera.

Oh god, I don't think I remember anymore.. I think it was taken from the Gmod.
It had this colorful light around it, while yours doesn't have one.

While I was making it I thought the very same thing. However there are somewhat two ways of controlling that:
1. In the view port the closer you get to it the glow gets thinner.
2. Follow the little tutorial from display pic 11 to 13 and from there adjust the glow strength.

I'm a little worried that the blades look a little too big. Not the actually the blade but the light. I think it makes the saber look fat if you get me
