I was thinking more as a sort of ultimate form of the psi operator.
Well, I just tested this alongside "Avatar Buffs mod", and while I've always been of the opinion that Ruler Reactions need to be a conflip and not a guarantee...
This turned out amazing. It was horrible, as a reaction all my Alpha-team squad got mind-controlled and when my 2 SPARKS managed to hit the Avatar, it reflected the shot before peacing out. Its definitely a Kobayashi Maru, but if you mix your XCOM 2 with other mods, then you might have a small chance.
And yet...
it makes the Chosen look like child's Play... Which is the purpose of this mod... I'm rather okay with this.
한국어 해석본도 있다니 최고!
This is the true avatar. A monster capable of soloing entire squads of colonels and winning.
Hats off to the author for the challenge.
Guess I'll try to cheese those bosses
2) Didn't lose my control of that soldier's dominated advent trooper.
3) Not sure if I miscounted or what, but I thought I saw some of my mind controlled soldiers taking 3-4 actions against me during the alien turn.
Also, how do I tone this down by making the reaction happen only some of the time, and maybe removing the mass mind control?
- The rest of the buffs are rather fun and challenging, since it hard counters Reapers and stealth troops. Made me gasp when I first witnessed that Mass MC!
If I can suggest a couple of changes, aside from looking into the wonky cooldown, I'd say make it so people can customize Avatar's strength trait in the ini, mainly to deal with the buggy Soulstealer strength. That or just remove it while keeping SoulSteal thru Soulfire as a means for Avatar to lifesteal.
- Soulstealer is broken since it also applies to the Commander's Avatar while keeping the default mechanic (healing target upon xcom taking dmg). Therefore, the moment the Commander takes any damage, it counts as xcom taking dmg and "lifesteal" all that dmg into hp, thus making him immortal.
- Perhaps the Soulstealer mechanic in general was never balanced for Beta Strike, because it makes it almost impossible to wittle down Avatar unless you setup 1-shot kill traps (alpha striking Beta Strike) like Banish with superior expanded mags, Whiplash + any free AP skill + Retribution/Bladestorm proc, Dual strike with bondmate, etc.
Just my two cents. Make of it what you will.
Go watch Beagle's "Operators vs Aliens" for a lot of great ideas on what to cull in order to make Xcom stop being OP.
Checking is late. It looks like it definitely conflicts with the feature.
This is like a mod for a masochist, that second reaction is terrifying. I assume the avatar is similar when a codex is skullmined? I would like to see a video of someone actually beating an avatar or even the final mission. I don't try and use OP perks for my team, but I balance them with new aliens and a buffed avatar already. This is impossible, truely.
