mat_scope_draw_viewmodel 1 sometimes works, sometimes doesn't.
idk why tho-

Euri's imgur link didn't load for me, so I went searching for the .vpk myself. It was 1755773947, for anyone else who couldn't see the page.

Oh yes, it still happens even when no mods are installed, so don't you worry 🙂
Novidei 19 Aug, 2020 @ 9:06pm
That's something wrong with the game then, and not this mod, but hey! The comment is relevant to the post still.

I discovered recently that having mat_scope_draw_viewmodel 1 may cause a bug with the rendering of the viewmodel in scopes, and also create a weird rendering of the viewmodel in the left side. Happens in Day of Infamy as well.

Put the vpk file of the mod to the custom folder, it works
CodyBi  [author] 6 Jun, 2019 @ 10:51pm
@Euri opticparallax is packed as .vpk and it's in my custom folder

okay, i'm gonna check workshop edition

@CodyBi

I seem to have found a solution to the mod not working. Is it ideal? No. Does it mean people can hit the subscribe button and have fun? No. But it works nonetheless. If you want to use this mod, bear in mind that this comment is directed at the creator, but explains everything and helps you understand how to fix this mod for yourself.

The reason this mod probably works for you is because it's situated in your custom folder. The custom folder is pretty much mandatory in launching for Insurgency, and doesn't require the VPK be installed before entering a game (this can be observed in the console.)

I've observed a similar course of action required for other mods to make them work. You've probably seen the line "Extract VPK and move to custom folder" before. It's the same story here, you'll need to locate the .vpk file, and extract it to your game's "custom" folder.
Novidei 6 Jun, 2019 @ 9:22pm
Going forward, I would suggest stating upfront that the mod requires you to do these actions. Breaking down the process of extracting the .vpk is up to you, but make sure that the general public knows how to properly install this mod. It's a great concept, and I don't even have to worry about re-subbing to it now.

I took screenshots and whatnot to show the intended result. You can find them, as well as instructions on how to do this yourself, here: https://imgur.com/a/T8WQDww

In short, good work. The mod can be fixed, you just need to know how to. Looking forward to what you make next!

guys i really can't understand what is causing the problem, i even disabled my fov mod and i still get nice scope image when i'm aiming with it
Ghost993514 6 Jun, 2019 @ 4:18pm
Cody, there IS a problem with your mod, you need to try and find it, not just deny it. It changes effects something.

I liked the idea of the mod and the video showed it, and it would be a nice enhancement, but it just doesn't work.
Maybe it's resolution, maybe scope detail.
Point is, it doesn't work, good luck and I hope it gets fixed sometime.

But please, don't just try and say it's not doing something wrong.
All but the center of all optics are covered in black, covering everything and making the scope nearly unusable.

Also, I meant that with my FOV being lower than normal, vanilla parallax'd scopes don't have the effect of being so 'zoomed' since the weapon model is placed further away (in my case) than close, giving it the effect of 'no zoom.'
Sorry for the confusion there.

Breaks the scope almost completely
CodyBi  [author] 4 Jun, 2019 @ 11:03pm
how can this mod affect scopes zoom if it contains no script files
Ghost993514 4 Jun, 2019 @ 5:56pm
I think it's probably an issue with low weapon model FOV, since before this mod, it had already kinda bugged the 'zoom' of many optics, making them look less zoomed than what they should normally be. It's convenient to an extent; but that problem was mitigated using the 'hold breath/focus' button, default shift.

That is, sadly, not the case with the mod.
Ghost993514 4 Jun, 2019 @ 5:51pm
Yeah, seems to be a common problem.
EnDelta 4 Jun, 2019 @ 6:43am
it breaks my scope - left few vision space
-ExiLe` 4 Jun, 2019 @ 5:59am
okii, but then I don't understand why you have a special mouse button bound to enable it? ^^ Don't answer that though lol, I'm starting to look like mr internet expert or a kb warrior troll, not my intention, ignore me :-P
CodyBi  [author] 4 Jun, 2019 @ 5:41am
dude i have scope irl and i know that iron sight isn't focused
-ExiLe` 4 Jun, 2019 @ 5:29am
Anyways, it's a good mod, appreciate you're sharing this :-)
-ExiLe` 4 Jun, 2019 @ 5:27am
you didn't, cuz it's an odd recommendation to turn it on, it doesn't help with either aiming or visibilty, so why would you want that? ;-)
CodyBi  [author] 4 Jun, 2019 @ 5:03am
ikr
-ExiLe` 4 Jun, 2019 @ 4:28am
Nice mod. Viewmodel should be disabled though, if you go for realism. The front sight is out of focus for magnified optics in real life and is barely or not visible at all.
CodyBi  [author] 4 Jun, 2019 @ 4:03am
I don't know what's causing problems, everything is fine for me
gonna check again
Herope 4 Jun, 2019 @ 3:25am
My ported sandstorm optics has that "all black except for the middle" issue
CodyBi  [author] 3 Jun, 2019 @ 7:33pm
This mod should be compatible for every optic mod since it's chaning only black tint material
I'm using my own FOV mod
Ghost993514 3 Jun, 2019 @ 7:10pm
E.g. 'cl_ads_fov_scale 1.2' instead of 1

Sorry for the double post for some reason it didn't appear, mb
Ghost993514 3 Jun, 2019 @ 7:09pm
Does the mod only work for Vanilla?

And what if you use custom FOVs for your model during aiming/focus?

Is it compatible with the Elcan? Not working for me.

And various optic mods, how about those?
TenReborn 2 Jun, 2019 @ 8:09pm
Whats the scope for the sks?

Bistander 31 May, 2019 @ 10:23am
thanks will check it out
1v4n94 31 May, 2019 @ 10:21am
mat_scope_render_quality 3 (sets scope quality at "high")
CodyBi  [author] 31 May, 2019 @ 9:58am
I guess it should't but i recommend "High"
Bistander 31 May, 2019 @ 9:38am
Does the scope detail settings need to be at a certain level?
CodyBi  [author] 30 May, 2019 @ 11:31pm
thanks!
1v4n94 30 May, 2019 @ 11:15pm

Also added to my improvements collection. Much appreciated!
1v4n94 30 May, 2019 @ 9:19pm
This is a real enhancement mod! Thanks! I'll try it later if I can, and give a review :)
Bistander 30 May, 2019 @ 6:02pm
Hey this mod isn't working for me, my scopes are entirely black except for a spot in the middle.
I use the ported insurgency sandstorm scopes. Do those mods conflict?
Я_в_КС_а_ты_В_ЧС😈 30 May, 2019 @ 6:28am
