I agree that it's pretty barebones. I started it as a distraction from the other, more ambitious, UGC I was (and I'm still) working on. It was also a way to learn how some things worked, and there are definitely things that aren't done properly ;)
(Though to be completely honest I'm not sure the UGC I'm currently working on will be that much longer. It's more complex but a single playthrough will probably still be quite short)
Straight forward kind of action. Easy to avoid battle if you say what they wanna ear.
To short ... would be good to have a little bit more flesh around the bone.
You cannot let your decker hack any cpu if its not the main character tho.
The discusions are not blocking things you've already said to any npcs, kind of weird and anoying if you want to avoid repeating your lines.
Could have some more stuff to fill some gaps for the progression from one place to another.
In overall, it was ok.
Just feeled weird how it was built tho. ;)
You're on a good way for some good stuff, keep the good work.
If you do more i will be happy to test it. If you don't... i wish you the best wathever you do and wherever life takes you.
Cheers.
Answers spoilered:
That amount of money being too big to afford is kind of a point on its own, which goes with the overall theme of the UGC: you can be the toughest runner, you can't solve all problems just with your guns/spells/deck/etc.
As for how much you can get, you probably can't get enough. The brothel owner can give you 100k but that triggers a special ending where you drop the run and possibly work for him later. You can however find a way to get him to give you 60k and continue the run.
I think if you import a character you import his nuyens as well. That's still a lot, but the option is there if you have them.
I found the... brothel leader, so to say, and i thought i could get the money from him, but i didn't find a way to get 500k.
Any hint? More than willing to replay the module anyway.
It was good, and i enjoyed it. It's the kind of story that i like in an RPG, the moral hell, where you find a guy who does horrendous things but for a reason that is somewhat relatable (i am talking about the female scientist, of course).
It was real good.
@Skree: Spoiler below (highlight to read)
You can give a chance to the kid if you pay the 500k treatment, but it's not said if it saves him or not.
SPOILERS BELOW
is there a way to save the kid?
Very interesting, a lot of options to play your runner like you would want to in those situation. Not very long and very well written apart for some left over typos . I enjoyed it . Good job and thank you .
Makes me think the boss has tangled with Shadowrunner crews before and knew that even if he killed us all it would come at a very high price.
That adds some dimension to his character that normally would never be there. Good job!
Could use a tiny bit of spelling/grammar checking, but it's a good solid story and fun to play!
All bugs reported below are now fixed.
Don't hesitate to share and rate!
I don't know when I'll have time to fix and update, but I'll try to do so as soon as possible.
The endings were a bit tricky to implement since there are so many possible endings so it's possible you got the wrong text.
I did forget to add the option to go back downstairs in the last scene, I should definitely add it.
Last loading slide also says "The Seamstress Uniom". And no option to go downstairs - I assumed I'd need to speak to doc again, maybe pay that money for the care and that. I reckon it would be nice to have something sort of concluding that issue - the kid you found, maybe some little meeting with them, something about adopting them, or they died while you were on mission - I don't know - just, when you thrust a sick 2 year old into the story I reckon there ought to be some conclusion for them, you know? Just something addressing the issue.
All in all this was a nice little campaign. I can see that there's probably more for me to see on a replay wtih a different character build and some different choices. Fixing up a few of the little bugs will made a huge difference. Thanks for the fun El-Poco!
At a certain point I chose the option "That's for me to know", and as I exited I was informed that drones were coming. They appeared - and in red - but I didn't enter combat. Able to just walk away, and no option to attack them.
After debriefing, I chose the option to go back and do a rescue and salvage and so on. The ending slide said that the experiments will continue though - I'm thinking if I did what I chose, that wouldn't be the case.
After getting a bunch of money shortly after my last post, I went back to the doc and the dialogue where I could have given her money before wasn't available anymore. I'm guessing you weren't counting on players visiting her before heading to the booth.
Surprised and impressed that my random hires chimed in with dialogue! Wasn't expecting that.
On some loading text it tells me I had a "long but hopefully uneventful walk" - this should perhaps be "thankfully" instead, or just cut out.
TB Gruberman has had a sex change, and now has a female model, though the same portrait.
Not that there'd be anything in it, but stash access in the basement is also not working.
I'll let you know if I come across anything else that doesn't seem quite right.
