Seconding the request to make the mod depend on whether you own the Hookshot Badge. Kind of weird to start a new save and immediately be able to hookshot.

Just an FYI, this mod isn't compatible with Vanessa's Curse. If you have this on, even if you put the Hookshot Badge on, you won't be able to use the hookshot at all.

Would it not be possible to make this active once the badge is obtained? As in, make it so that you can hookshot with the badge not *equipped*, but it still needs to be in inventory?

Actually, the hookshot badge comes from the Subcon Well, not the badge seller.

I'm glad this was a thing because the STUPID BADGE SELLER, REFUSES TO GIVE ME THE HOOKSHOT BADGE AND IT FEELS LIKE ITS LOCKING ME OUT OF EVERYTHING, *sigh* its probably because I have a STUPID tone of badge mods/workshop badges installed

This is a great mod but the only problem I have experienced when using this mod is that sometimes it replaces the first badge slot with the hook shot. Other then that I have had no issues with it.

I guess the same could be said for the Mumble badge. I hope somebody makes a "Mumble Anywhere" mod.

Fun fact, this WAS a feature in the base game in early betas, along with the camera being separate, but they decided for some reason to make them badges instead.

Pretty sure I fixed the issue. Now when the cat thief steals your hat, it will return the fake hookshot to you once you recover it.

I've been going back and forth with Jaw about this mod, and it looks like the thief cats in Death Wish (the ones that steal your hat) breaks the mod. Although I think playing as Bow Kid has something to do with it as well, seeing as Bow Kid's entire inventory reverts to what she started the Death Wish with upon failure. (I tested Death Wish on Hat Kid using the same mods. Inventory doesn't revert at all.)

I also used this mod in the mustache gauntlet deathwish and it also stopped working when I went back from a checkpoint. Weird.

Hmm. I just tried reloading from a checkpoint in the gauntlet deathwish, and it seemed to work fine for me. So I'm not sure what the problem is.

Hey, question. Is the Mustache Gauntlet Deathwish supposed to have checkpoints? This is kind of important because I found a bug with Hookshot Anywhere.
Because if it is---Hookshot Anywhere stops working if you load from a checkpoint... but more importantly, it re-enables the Quick Charge Badge, which is typically disabled in Death Wishes.
If it isn't... uh. Then I have a lot of testing to do.

The method I used to do it could theoretically be used for any badge. I don't have plans to do it for any other ones, but if someone else wants to do it, then feel free.

Nope. The code from this is original. Basically it works by equipping the normal hookshot badge, but not putting it on the badge slot. So it's mostly just the normal hookshot badge code, plus some extra magic to equip it indirectly.

Did you use the code from the beta for it?

I find it to be a weird design choice for such an important mobility item to be relegated to a badge slot. Definitely looking forward to trying this one out.

Minor issue which I don't know if it is possible to fix, but in the ToD fight it will at least once force the hookshot to be equipped
