1 hex mod would go crazy

Why is there not a 1 hex version of this mod?
KosmosAlive 13 Nov, 2021 @ 12:32am
Is anyone else unable to find this in mods either in the game menu or computer files after subscribing?

chendoodi; The game's default is 3. Yours is 2 because of this mod, which lowers it to 2. If you want 3, unsubscribe from this mod. If you want higher than 3, search "cities distance" in workshop and find his other mods that change the distance requirements (up to 8, I think)

Hey Everyone... Long time no talk. I just posted equivalent Civ6 mods earlier today for cities being 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 or even 9 (yikes) hexes away. Enjoy.

Is this because I am using BNW?

why my Cvi5 default is "2"? even I change it to 3, it still wont work :(
stebobibo 30 Jun, 2016 @ 11:31am
Soron, If you want to lower the distance even more, you can do that yourself. You have to find the global defines folder which is here - C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization V\Assets\DLC\Expansion2\Gameplay\XML
Then edit the value under MIN_CITY_RANGE. The default is 3.

what about a 1 hexes or even a 0 mod? XD

Hey man, I'm unfortunately stuck with playing on a Mac right now. TSL maps are basically the only thing I ever play on, so I'm dying being unable to edit globaldefines.xml directly myself. If you could post a direct download for this mod, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

Thanks! And funny, as TSL maps were exctly what I was thinking about when I originally created this mod. Speaking of TSL, check out the Historical Spawn Dates mod. Plays very nice with TSL. I am loving it.

Excellent mod, thoroughly enjoying using it. As said before, almost essential for playing TSL maps of the world in Europe!

Great for playing on earth maps in europe.

very nice mod know my unit dont have to traval as far to get to city to city
lilMobStick 17 Sep, 2013 @ 7:58pm
Do they? Either way it's kind of unrealistic. The mod is called the "Headlock Mod" It has somee values that I don't like but I copied some global values into another mod to disable the cities indirectly attacking you.
von Jahgmann  [author] 17 Sep, 2013 @ 7:02pm
@JaegerJack69 --- which mod, if you don;t mind me asking? Somewhat on topic, ranged units that have the Indirect promotion can bombard without line-of-sight.
lilMobStick 15 Sep, 2013 @ 9:42pm
I meant to say mod. I am sorry. I meant I was at war with another civilization, and attacking one of their cities, but there was another city of theirs that I had not discovered yet, behind a mountain. On one of the turns it shot at me over the mountain, which my archers, and catapults could not do. The city could fire at my soldiers even though they didn't directly see them. How the would shoot the arrows over a mountain anyway, I don't know.
Either way I found a solution from another mod that stopped it from happening.
von Jahgmann  [author] 15 Sep, 2013 @ 7:26pm
@JaegerJack69 - Huh? Isn't war a key component of how the game works? There are ways to make Civs permanently at war, but I have not seen the opposite.
lilMobStick 14 Sep, 2013 @ 11:14pm
Can you make a mode that would stop cities from indirectly attacking me? I had troops on one side of a mountain and on the other side there was a city (which I was not aware was there) that fired right over the mountain at my troops.
Reginon 13 Sep, 2013 @ 2:27pm
Finally! I always had to change global defines myself
Azor Ahai 7 Sep, 2013 @ 6:19pm
I agree with both Squirly and Lynx, those would be great.
Advice Dog 7 Sep, 2013 @ 1:30pm
Cool! But could you make one that allows 1 hex? :)
Steele 7 Sep, 2013 @ 11:50am
Thank you i think this will make it easier to keep an eye on your civilization :) :dsham:
cxado 4 Sep, 2013 @ 9:38pm
Can you do one that allows a city right next to a city?
HABS 29 Aug, 2013 @ 6:12pm
thank you
von Jahgmann  [author] 25 Aug, 2013 @ 7:52am
@marcusfek - I thought about it, but then the Civ5 default is 3. ;p
KINGMARCUS 24 Aug, 2013 @ 10:16pm
Can you do one for 3 hexes?
von Jahgmann  [author] 22 Aug, 2013 @ 12:09pm
So here is the "2" mod. Should be compatible with Vanilla, Gods & Kings and Brave New World. Enjoy!
von Jahgmann  [author] 22 Aug, 2013 @ 12:09pm
I originally created the "4" mod to reduce AI city spam so that I would not have to hand edit the game's XML to get the behavior I like. After uploading the "4" mod, folks promptly asked for sibling "5" and "6" mods too. Done.

Surprisingly, at least to me, yet more folks have since asked for additional mods with the distance set to "2", "7" and "8". At long last, done. Cheers.
