what are the materials
Ellie  [author] 31 Dec, 2021 @ 10:38am
Not sure, haven't used it in a very long time. Were you running lots of mods at the time? Running several mods at once can cause some to break.
jh 30 Dec, 2021 @ 3:02pm
the mod is broken i think
Ellie  [author] 11 Feb, 2020 @ 12:14am
I am going to upload the new version, as it is. It has only 1 or so doors, but you can work on that. I'l make you contributor. I don't care what you do from that point on, do what you think will make people happy. I just don't want any part. I'll get it functional and make it visible now.
Ellie  [author] 11 Feb, 2020 @ 12:12am
Making the mod basically involves spending hours copy/pasting code/sprites and then going through it repeatedly to change individual bits. Finding errors and stuff is also a nightmare.
Ellie  [author] 11 Feb, 2020 @ 12:10am
I've had a long term problem with taking criticism. I'm not sure why. Look, I don't know the word for it then. The point is, you never asked permission. You just went ahead and did it. Yeah maybe i should have had a readme or something to state you couldn't just do that, but one would think it'd be common courtesy to at least ask.

The reason I'm so stubborn when it comes to updating/making changes/working on the mod in general, is it's the most dull, tedious, repetitive pain in the ass. it's literally demoralising for me. I've had way more fun working on my other mods. Even tons of cannons was easier.
Bobereto 10 Feb, 2020 @ 1:53pm
One of the most factual pieces of information I have every come across.(The constructive criticism part)
mellow.die 10 Feb, 2020 @ 12:42pm
Also since I assume you're talking about the "Balanced Reuploaded" mod, the adamantium price change wasn't minimal. That was a core feature of the mod I drastically edited. But that mod was never supposed to be "Well Defended" It was just supposed to be a edited version that made the mod more usable in Coop games. Calling it Balanced Reuploaded was a mistake on my part. I should have called it the Well Defended Coop Edit. But that's why I never asked you to make those changes. I didn't want the original mod changed since it was still perfectly fine for tdm games. And looking through your comment history you don't exactly take constructive criticism well.
mellow.die 10 Feb, 2020 @ 12:42pm
@Anchovy Dude, I didn't plagiarise your mod. To quote Wikipedia (sorry English teacher), "Plagiarism is the "wrongful appropriation" and "stealing and publication" of another author's "language, thoughts, ideas, or expressions" and the representation of them as one's own original work." I don't remember claiming I made Well Defended, like ever.
Ellie  [author] 10 Feb, 2020 @ 3:09am
My attitude to changing things about the mod might have been a bit too aggressive/defensive, so I agree I could have done more to make those changes. But you at no point suggested them in the comments for it or elsewhere, so you can't say I refused to add your suggestions.
Ellie  [author] 10 Feb, 2020 @ 3:06am
I definitely overreacted, but I still stand by my argument that you had no right to reupload the mod, just because I made it invisible to the public.I still have the files, and proof I owned it. I'd just have to spend time digging for that, which I don't want to really do. No it isn't a technical copy, but the changes made are minimal and really just don't warrant a reupload. If some company made a game, and you didn't like 4 or so features about it, would you plagiarise their game just to change those few features? No. Same here, the only difference being i don't have any power to stop you as it is just a workshop item.
Bobereto 9 Feb, 2020 @ 6:51pm
It's a mod in a small game for Gods sakes, none of this matters. In my opinion Josh wanted to keep playing with Well Defended like many others and decided to take the mod that was Anchovies and re-upload it so people can still have fun playing with the mod. No one is making anything from the re-upload of this mod. I just don't see the problem nor the point of this disagreement. Anchovy decided to get rid of Well Defended which was totally his decision but some people obviously enjoyed the mod because the re-upload has a lot of subscribers. I just don't see the point of all this. He re-uploaded a decently large mod after it was taken down so people could continue playing with it.
AlexD 7 Feb, 2020 @ 5:15pm
Uhg, well I have made my arguement in a comment on your mod now. So respond to that.
mellow.die 7 Feb, 2020 @ 3:57pm
Also I didn't copy Well Defended. I re-uploaded it. There is a difference. Saying I "copied" Well Defended is implying that I am saying that it is my own work. Which it is not and I never claimed it to be.

Also the only reason I'm doing this in the first place is because I and so many other Forts players love the original Well Defended, and I think that it should be available for people to play, which is actually a credit to Anchovy's modding skills which I very much respect. You seeing where I'm coming from now?

You can report *my mods to the devs if you wish, but if they do their due diligence they will see I have done nothing wrong.

*I hope you know that when I say "my" I am only referring to the fact that I have them on the Steam Workshop. This applies to my previous comment as well.
mellow.die 7 Feb, 2020 @ 3:57pm
@alexc96161 You are misunderstanding what I'm trying to say. And I don't plan on deleting any of my messages, but I'm flattered you took some screenshots. Also, I'm plenty calm at the moment but I thank you for your concern.

I understand you think that I'm some kind of awful thief for re-uploading the original Well Defended. But I have done nothing to claim ownership of the original Well Defended (which I could have done) and have properly credited Anchovy as the creator, and even linked his "new" version (this one) in my mod description.

But I believe you are wrong when you say "If you don't like a mod you can NOT re upload n older version". This is simply not true. When Anchovy took down the original Well Defended he revoked his rights to it on the Forts Steam Workshop, which gives me every right to re-upload it and credit Anchovy.

BubbyB 7 Feb, 2020 @ 3:49pm
@alexc96161 I have also taken screenshots of what you have said, so don't try deleting your messages.
AlexD 7 Feb, 2020 @ 1:29pm
And dont try deleting your messages, I have taken screenshots. I really take this serously as I myself mod and I have a mod with over 35 thousand subscribers.
AlexD 7 Feb, 2020 @ 1:27pm
Josh, please calm down. If you dont like a mod you can NOT re upload n older version. There is plenty of proof that you have copied the mod. Right here is proof, you talking about how you copied the mod. Eather you take the mod down or I report your mod (Which is copied) to the devs.
mellow.die 6 Feb, 2020 @ 6:54pm
I could have said I made it and there would have been no tangible proof of the contrary. I don't even know why you care, since you said:

"1. I removed well defended because I was getting harassed by people like you to update it" You won't get harassed because I own it now. If you're worried still about getting messaged because of the credits I gave you in the workshop descriptions, I can remove them.

You have no grounds to remove either of MY mods OR file copyright infringement cases, especially considering the fact that there is no money involved, if you try, you will be laughed at.

Stop being salty and leave Well Defended alone. It doesn't affect you anymore. So stop being a dick, and I would recommend shutting up before you make a bigger fool of yourself
mellow.die 6 Feb, 2020 @ 6:54pm
@Anchovy
You don't own Well Defended anymore. You deleted it off of steam, so it's not yours.
You have no proof of it being yours other than the descriptions I PUT ON THE MODS (I didn't even have to do that after you deleted it), YOU SAID THIS IN YOUR OWN COMMENT "no I don't have proof of owning the other mod"

Ellie  [author] 6 Feb, 2020 @ 2:29am
I could but it would be a whole ordeal. I might message the dev again to get both deleted. And if they do reappear i will actually file a copyright infringement case. It is not your work and you have no right to repost it just because you don't like the changes i made.
Ellie  [author] 6 Feb, 2020 @ 2:24am
I removed it for a reason. The only thing keeping both your copies is my inability to take action. I'm not spending ages trying to figure out how to do a copyright takedown on steam.
Ellie  [author] 6 Feb, 2020 @ 2:22am
Yeah please don't do that.
mellow.die 4 Feb, 2020 @ 1:38pm
You didn't have to disown Well Defended. I have re-uploaded the original.
Ellie  [author] 4 Feb, 2020 @ 5:22am
By the way this mod does have an antigrav at the end
Ellie  [author] 4 Feb, 2020 @ 5:21am
I was trying to take each category of material seen in well defended, and make reduce them to only having 1 material per, thus making the UI less cluttered.
Ellie  [author] 4 Feb, 2020 @ 5:20am
Yeah I just thought "this took no skill bar the custom damage sprites, it's really lengthy and tedious to update, and all it brings is people hating on me or bothering me to update it" so at that point I decided to just delete it. That said, energy making materials might be a worthy addition to this mod.
Waterpig 3 Feb, 2020 @ 6:05am
Whilst I agree well defended was definetely not balanced, that was the fun of it. Its the same with the indefinite upgrade mod: people play it because its fun, not because its balanced.
Ellie  [author] 3 Feb, 2020 @ 5:00am
Infact, if you're so sure I didn't make that mod, why'd you come to me on this mod then? just to say it's shit and that well defended was better?
Ellie  [author] 3 Feb, 2020 @ 4:56am
I can post my unfinished planned update to well defended if you wish. It has no doors, and is missing a bunch of materials. And no preview image. But it does have a nice selection of energy making materials.
Ellie  [author] 3 Feb, 2020 @ 4:49am
I didn't even make that mod to upload it. It should never have been uploaded. I just thought why the hell not.
Ellie  [author] 3 Feb, 2020 @ 4:48am
Whether you like the mod or not it's all you've got. go download not so well defended then. Working on these kinds of mods to appease the wishes of 1 random person on the internet is not something I'm undertaking. The whole reason I made Well Defended was because I was retarded and decided to see how many materials I could make. It was never made to be good or balanced, making creating a "useful" version hard.
Ellie  [author] 3 Feb, 2020 @ 4:31am
no I don't have proof of owning the other mod. and I don't really give two shits about whether that upsets you or not. I owned it, I deleted it. Take it or leave it.
Waterpig 30 Jan, 2020 @ 12:35am
1. I didnt tell you I want it updated, I just said it was in fact more succesful than this one.
2. I played this mod and havent noticed any resource making materials
3. Now you dont have any proof that you owned the mod before on steam, yet you still continue harassing people
4. I never said it didnt
5. Not entirely, but yes.

To conclude, read my review properly and than answer properly.
Ellie  [author] 29 Jan, 2020 @ 5:33am
You have 23 hours in the game and expect to be able to review a mod properly?
Ellie  [author] 29 Jan, 2020 @ 5:32am
1. I removed well defended because I was getting harassed by people like you to update it
2. The antigrav caused issues at the time, hence it's removal, and i never removed any of the resource making ones
3. It is my property and they have no right to copy it without permission
4. This mod is supposed to add useful materials, without flooding the UI
5. Yes Well Defended was entirely reskins

To conclude, you're an idiot.
Waterpig 29 Jan, 2020 @ 3:08am
Whilst I love the addition of stealth armor, the mod just looks like a lazy way of "revorking".
#1 - the old extra materials (which was a succesful and fun mod, not like this one) got removed because the creator said people were too lazy to press Q (which I have never actually noticed)
#2 - got rid of many special materials like antigrav or recource generating materials
#3 - the author attacks any reuploads/balance mods by other players
#4 - doesnt offer anything interesting apart from stealth armor, which is useless most of the times anyway, none of the materials do anything interesting, etc.
#5 - atleast it doesnt have reskins
Dumb Cat 11 Jan, 2020 @ 11:57pm
I love this mod and a lot of your work i hope you make more great mods in the future
Ellie  [author] 6 Jan, 2020 @ 2:27am
It amuses me because he says I have a "down vote on this mod currently" as if he is 1 down vote is somehow gonna change anything. Like I as a modder have to appease his sole wishes.
Blub 5 Jan, 2020 @ 1:20am
dont mind me but imma just steal the phrase that anchovy last said
Lt. Tactical Bhopper 31 Dec, 2019 @ 11:18am
Yikes.
Ellie  [author] 31 Dec, 2019 @ 12:18am
This is my field of fucks to give. Gaze upon it and see that it is barren.
myru 30 Dec, 2019 @ 3:15pm
Currently, I have a downvote for this mod until the author stops being lazy and actually starts focusing on their mods.
myru 30 Dec, 2019 @ 3:14pm
I meant Well Defended 2 as a sequel not an update
Ellie  [author] 12 Nov, 2019 @ 12:30am
Well Defended past version 3.0. So naming this 2.0 wouldn't make much sense. This mod is for people who found well defended to be overwhelming. I actually have a mostly complete well defended update, but finding the motivation to keep working on it is difficult.
myru 11 Nov, 2019 @ 7:53pm
Personally, not a fan of this mod. I wish the creator would go back to well defended and keep updating it because there's like no materials on this one and the other one is epic. Also, I think you would get more subscriptions if you renamed Extra Materials to Well Defended 2.0.
Ellie  [author] 7 Oct, 2019 @ 12:02am
Yeah. I have been working on a new well defended, though got bored of it, so not sure if it will release.
SamuraiNinjaGuy 6 Oct, 2019 @ 6:58am
Fair enough. I've been a maintainer before, I get it.
Ellie  [author] 6 Oct, 2019 @ 1:49am
You've said this on Well Defended.
1. I would have to reupload these mods to update them. I don't have their files anymore.
2. I can't be assed doing it for one guy who doesn't use windows
SamuraiNinjaGuy 5 Oct, 2019 @ 2:05pm
Also, I agree, well defended had too many armors that were too similar. I personally didn't mind that they were reskins, just too many and too hard to memorize all their differences for when the enemy used one. Also scrolling to the right armor took too long.
