Transparent Blocks

@Slaywraith @2cm I just installed this mod to see if it works. it does still technically work, but there is some jank going on with slope blocks.

that said, if you have multiple slope blocks in a row side by side- specifically with each slop block connecting to the surrounding slopes and slope corners- it'll show the sides of the slops that are not connected to the transparent block you're looking through.

you can see just fine through the slope block that is touching a transparent block, but it only works for that specific transparent block. (it's hard to describe but I hope this helps in getting this mod patched.)

Does this still work, because I f***ing *NEED* it!!!
slipcasedrock2 17 Nov, 2022 @ 11:20pm
very nice!

It's like magic. I need to build a ship out of this just so I can forget where I park it. Great work mate.

I want to like this mod but it seems that matching non-square faces are no longer culled and so always show up. As a result, you can't really use any kind of slopes on the exterior.
Ouroborus 8 Oct, 2019 @ 10:44am
In the "cockpit" portion of your video, how do you get the armor block triangle faces to be hidden?
Mistlynx 12 Sep, 2019 @ 10:16am
Alright, what I really need is for these blocks to allow me to completely see through sloped blocks instead of making it mostly transparent except for the sides.

@robloxcraft999
No. this is non-functional block.

@MistLynx
Not planned. This mode uses SE's face optimization algorithm. I'll try, but I can't guarantee it.
Mistlynx 1 Aug, 2019 @ 2:27pm
Any chance of a half slab block? I want to use this in my lounge but don't want to give up an entire block space for it.
Ydna 8 Jul, 2019 @ 6:19am
@2cm is there any way to turn these on and off?
Zael'a 20 May, 2019 @ 4:03pm
great work, realy love it. just one thing isn't that good, wish there was a was to limit the range of visibility other than building a second hull, first bridge i tried made the ship completely 'invisible' :D
abuseJUNKEY 30 Apr, 2019 @ 4:07pm
you just made my ship into something I don't have to fly in 3rd person
Jinwoo Sung 27 Apr, 2019 @ 8:27am
@2cm thanks man.

@Spock The Builder
This block is more suitable for viewing the outside through the armor than stealth.
ex: armoured cockpit room.

@KarlWollermanGaming
That blocks themselves are transparent glass cubes.
But they make neighboring armor side to transparent.
"How to" is description of this effect.
Jinwoo Sung 16 Apr, 2019 @ 11:58am
ah.. so.... this adds blocks that you can place that is exactly one way glass? or what do you mean in the "How to" section?
dRuPpI 16 Apr, 2019 @ 12:12am
mhh I like it but would still prefer a version where still is a other texture on the outside too witch indicates some window or at least other material than basic armor platting.
Crysis Revelation 15 Apr, 2019 @ 8:16am
AT LAST!!! Cheap armored bridges for everyone!
Spock The Builder 14 Apr, 2019 @ 10:09am
How about using these as interior view screens instead of for stealth? Would it work for that?

Cool,optical camouflage!
Derzuel 12 Apr, 2019 @ 7:13pm
huh that's pretty cool
2cm  [author] 9 Apr, 2019 @ 6:21pm
@Taelyys
Sadly this is not work with some half faces.
NexeL 9 Apr, 2019 @ 3:56pm
does this mod have all armor block shapes including the 1x2 armor segments? Because if it does you are an absolute legend my friend. So many awesome ideas for heavily armored stealth ships!
d_valroth 9 Apr, 2019 @ 2:03pm
It was actually the armor edges I was looking for specifically. Too bad the engine doesn't work that way. Thanks for the reply. :)
Dragozenov 9 Apr, 2019 @ 11:52am
I like the idea, VR Cockpits in ships!!
2cm  [author] 9 Apr, 2019 @ 11:14am
@Zhirru
I added edgeless version.
Thank you for your feedback.
Zhirru 9 Apr, 2019 @ 10:35am
Greatwork!, I just hope there's an option to remove those Grey Borders
2cm  [author] 9 Apr, 2019 @ 10:29am
@d_valroth
Sorry. I can't make a version armor block style edged windows without the block removal.
The edge system always combines with the armor face culling system.
However, if there is no edge, I guess it will be possible.

Maybe it's what you are looking for.

Yeah, it's actually tricking VRAGE into not drawing the other blocks by telling it that these are opaque rather than transparent. So it has a lot to do with how the block behind it is set up and if VRAGE considers the entire block to be obscured.

@2cm
Thanks for the fast answer!
Fortunately I've already subscribed and intend to use the crap out of this! lol
2cm  [author] 9 Apr, 2019 @ 4:57am
@asmuda
1) They are weaker than Armor Block.

2) It's a bit complicated.
Adjacent armor surfaces must be completely covered with glass face to apply transparent effect.

ex:
- The square face must be covered with square glass. The triangular glass surface can not cover the square face complety.
- Square glass surfaces can cover square armor surfaces or triangular armor surfaces.
- Some half faces and all of rounded faces are does not applied. they are exceptions by armor-face-optimization system from Space Engineers.
asmuda 9 Apr, 2019 @ 12:42am
1) Do they have any value as armor?
2) Do all faces share this effect? (i assume yes)
Spaceman Spiff 8 Apr, 2019 @ 6:21pm
OK, that's just...well...wow!
DeAnti 8 Apr, 2019 @ 5:04pm
you're the new mod wizard
DeAnti 8 Apr, 2019 @ 5:03pm
super useful thank you ...
Forien 8 Apr, 2019 @ 4:32pm
Oh boi, all dem stealth ships....
d_valroth 8 Apr, 2019 @ 3:08pm
Reminds me of some of the later gen UC mobile suits. That's really cool. Can you do a version without the block removal to just get super tough block style edged windows? That's something that's really missing from big ship design.
nubeees 8 Apr, 2019 @ 2:14pm
That's super clever
DrakoZ 8 Apr, 2019 @ 7:40am
You realized what I once wanted to do =)
True, as I understand it, transparent blocks are all that will be connected to this grid. (if you look from the inside)
woostyboy 8 Apr, 2019 @ 6:58am
Oooo!! Armoured cockpits with full visibility...... Nice work!!
