Using this cause of Viper's class mods, works fine for me. My issue is that whenever my soldiers get injured or sent on covert ops, it always unequips whatever is equipped in the sidearm slot, anyone know how to stop it from doing this? Do i have to add something to the ini files in here, or the community highlander?

Does not work with LWOTC. Had to disable a couple of classes due to this.

Hi, is anyone use this mod with Amalgamation Classes? I was using RPGO and a lot other classes before. I know there are some configurations that need to be edited. But with Amalgamation, does that mean I need to figure out how it defines a soldier's class or nothing needs to be edited, since it is already granted to use other sidearm in tertiary specialization?

To offset this, I've included a XComGameData.ini in the config folder. Inside, you'll be able to add either a Grenade Slot or an additional Utility Slot on a per-ability basis.

Can i add ammo slot via this?

I don't know the reason for the glitch that creates a large number of blank spaces, but I have found a condition that always causes this to happen. It simply happens when I load saved data other than the tactical map. If the bug occurs, the problem disappears when you reload from the autosave of the last turn of the previous battle.

using rpgo, i assume i add that line into into the ini for the mod. correct? But i also want it to allow for more than just pistols. IE: holotargeters and the like, combat knives etc. just be available for all secondaries. is it? or is it only pistols? if not. how would i edit that line to make the slot open to all secondaries?

Never mind, I forgot to also comment it out in the mod Psionics Ex Machina 3.3, when I did that it removed the slot for the skirmisher.

Hi! I have both mods installed -- this and Iridar's Autopistol Overhaul, but autopistols are only equippable by sharpshooters and templars. Is it supposed to work like that or am I missing something?

I have commented out the Skirmisher so they don't have the pistol slot, but when I load into a game they still have the slot available. Is there no way to remove the slot for the skirmisher?

UPDATE: Ok, so I do realize now that LWOTC already contains what this Mod does, and I was duplicating it in a way.

However, if anyone knows the answer to this: Is there any way I can add a dedicated slot to certain Soldier Classes for items other than pistols, like sawed off shotgun etc?

@Veehementia Thanks for your response! I didn't realize this was incompatible with LWOTC. I did in fact figure out part of my issue. I had the "Ton of utility items" mod enabled.

Interestingly, once I disabled and uninstalled the "Tons of utility items" mod, I do actually get a dedicated Pistol slot now for my soldiers, so part of your mod is actually working.

I'm not sure what you mean by included in LWOTC. I did not have a pistol slot for my soldiers in LWOTC.

Additionally, the reason I wanted to use your mod was to apply a dedicated Sawed Off Shotgun or Arc Thrower type of slot to certain soldiers. While the dedicated pistol slot is working fine now using your mod, I can't get any other items slots to show up in the soldiers.

Change ChiefEngineer to the Class name. What you've got is one from the Proficiency Classes, the combat engineer maybe?

I seem to be having some trouble getting this to work; I'm likely missing something.

In the XComPistolSlot.ini, I added the following for most classes:

+ADD_SLOT=(SOLDIER_CLASS="WOTC_APA_Specialist", WEAPON_CAT="pistol", ALLOW_EMPTY=false)

But a pistol slot does not appear for any of them.

I'm using the Proficiency Pack and a custom Combat Engineer class with LWOTC, and I got the Class Names from their respective INI files.

I then tried:

+ADD_SLOT=(SOLDIER_CLASS="WOTC_APA_Specialist", SOLDIER_ABILITY="CarryUnit", WEAPON_CAT="pistol", ALLOW_EMPTY=false)

But I still don't see the pistol slot.

What am I missing?

Is this mod compatible to the Slot Reassignment Mod (https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2133397762)? Because i want to use some pisol perks with my own classes. When it´s not, then i will further use Utility Slot Sidearms.

i'm a bit stuck atm regarding the pistol slots.they work for the proficiency pack classes, like assault and engineer, but not the grenadier, specialist etc.for those the list is empty. do i need to create entrees for those classes in the ini also?

To anyone else looking to add this mod to Shiremct's proficiency classes, it's really easy to do in the configs. Just copy/paste one of the existing classes in the class ini and replace the name with the proficiency class name ("wotc_apa_classname").

@LockeEdwards This is because the sword itself does not have the Slash ability, which is instead given to Squaddie Rangers. You can fix this by manually adding it via Weapon Skin Replacer, Template Master, or by using Ability To Slot Reassignment (which should be a required mod for RPGO). Refer to those mod's pages for further instructions.

Alright, so I have actually run into an issue after a reasonable amount of troubleshooting and testing.

I'm trying to get RPGO to play nice with this mod, and I'm able to enable equipping swords and the specops combat knife in this dedicated pistol slot.

Unfortunately, when I actually go into a mission with a sword equipped to this slot, the slash ability is missing, and the soldier cannot actually use the sword. Are there any recommendations to get this working right?

Nevermind... The fix you gave me worked, and I figured out that latest problem.

Tip, if you are stuck in the loadout screen and can't hit escape to leave it, equip a medkit to a soldier. Apparently.... That works. :steamfacepalm:

@LockeEdwards Not sure. Maybe some mod is creating blank templates that are not intended to be used and my mod is picking them up.

I checked all the classes, and it seems the only class that is allowed to have a sidearm is combat engineers. Everyone else only gets psi-amps. I am using proficiency classes or whatever that class overhaul mod is. Reapers have to equip 2 pistols (or a pistol and an amp) it won't let me clear the secondary slot on them, everyone else gets the amps or nada.

Musashi's Tactical Armory UI was the mod, and it is not the issue. When I pull up the list all I get is psi-amps. Weird, right?

It is not available to choose. I believe it happens as soon as I unlock psiamps but at some point when I select the secondary slot in robojumper's squad select the only option is a psiamp. I do have a mod that changes the weapon selection interface but I can't remember what the frickin' name is because I want to turn it off and see if that's the issue.

I have not messed with the DPS configs at all, I've made I think just one change in PEXM but it was to the "siphon will" ability to buff it a little so it shouldn't have had any effect on the secondaries right? Thank you for replying and thank you for such a great mod, I know I'm just a random stranger you'll never meet but you have my sincere gratitude.

@Old Man Jenkins Just to be clear, you have tried swapping out the psi amp for a pistol but it is not available to choose? Or it is available but it can't be equipped?

Have you modified the configs of DPS or PEXM (related to DPS) in any way? If so, you might have inavertedly caused the issue: check them again.

I checked a number of comments so I'm hoping I'm not reporting something you've already dealt with but for some reason after I unlock psi-amps (using psionics ex machina) it no longer allows most soldiers to use anything but a psi-amp in the dedicated slot your mod provides. I looked through the config files and didn't see anything that would help, I'm thinking it's some sort of issue with either psionics or an interaction. It's a bummer, I like having pistols on classes like skirmishers but it only wants to let me use the psi-amp. Still helpful on my psi soldiers, though.
