I was thinking, instead of kaiserreich, making it compatible with Kaiserredux would be easier as I believe they recently removed the ship tech from kaiserreich

Good point, it might be cool (— to have. Not to make). That being said, KR is both slower to run and also faster to end than vanilla ; I think I reached 1946 in two games at most.

I'll try to take a look one day, once KR catches up to the upcoming vanilla expansion.

Kaiserreich removed its naval rework, so I don't think it messes with the tech tree anymore. Still, having KR + this mod just shows the vanilla tech tree for me.

It's not, because Kaiserreich messes with the tech tree. I started making a KR-compatible version some time ago (I basically only play KR anymore anyway), but decided against it. Having to keep up with Paradox releases and KR releases is more work than I'm willing to provide.

Maybe I should go see the KR team and explain how brilliant my mod is and how they should adopt it..

Thank you this sounds exactly what I'm looking for, I'm currently playing as Communist China on a mod free game and even though it's only 1943 have pretty much exhausted the tech tree except for tanks, planes and ships as I'm not really using those. This tree should resolve my problem so I can continue with my current game and still have ways to improve my army/country :-)

I'm not great at HoI4 modding (because it's as much about knowing lore through word of mouth than reading documentation) but my answer would be no, there is one file detailing infantry techs and one file detailing the tech panel interface, so you can't have two mods modifying them at a time.

Do you mean custom text and icons ? And do you mean for the stuff this mod adds, or for the stuff in the base game ?

If so, the technical answer is yes but I'm not too interested in that, because it's kind of boring work. In addition, it gets more and more speculative as one goes on, and I don't like making stuff up too much. I did write down some nation-specific equipment description, but almost exclusively for USA/SOV/GER/FRA/ENG.

There you go. I don't have the time to test this right now and there are no automated tests I could make to help, so the only way I have to catch bugs is to wait for you guys to find them.

Fine by me to include this in other mods, as long as you:
- include a link to this mod in the description of yours
- offer to contribute back improvements you make

Right now I don't see much to add, I think the tech tree mostly makes sense as a continuation of the original one. What would be best is refinement, such as better art, but I can't do that myself.

I'm also lightly working on a Kaiserreich version, although without the naval portion (since KR redoes all the naval stuff). What gets me worried is less porting the mod and more having to keep it up to date with not only HoI4 releases but also KR releases.

Hello, the mod is now marked as compatible with 1.7. No changes were needed, I just spent months without a computer with Windows installed, and HoI4 doesn't run well on Wayland, so I had to wait. Apologies for the delay.

I also removed Man the Guns as a dependency. The way this is done is kind of hacky (although, honestly, not nearly as much as the kind of stuff people put up with in event modding), so do let me know in case of problems.

Not a bad idea, I wasn't aware of that mod (yeah, looking really serious right now). But people tend to be conservative about sharing GFX, and with good reason -- it really is a mod's calling card.

if you select the part you've made for the end of the tech tree like the 49cm gun part, it blanks out that slot so you cant change it for the smaller gun or other part of the ship
