This will "soon" be deprecated since Infixo (Better World Rankings) has created a perfectly fine alternative. I might provide a quick custom WorldRanking.XML XP2 file that would reproduce the Header Bar custom row of Icons+Tooltips.. for anyone who'd prefer to still have that feature even within his slightly different design.
I predict a final decision once NFP has completed its release cycle with #6 -- around early April.
The trick here is that **their** updating steps are highly variable both in time (SIX packages distributed bi-monthly until March) & for required adjustments (IF and When absolutely necessary) to my stuff.
Duh! ;)
Soon'ish ;)
Done!
That Overall tab doesn't really need enhancements, IMHO.
I'm just a back seat critic, not familiar with LUA. Maybe someday.
Regarding the UI 'flaw', the numbers seems to be centered for the whole row, rather then for each individual column. Any chance that LUA allows for invisible characters? Having each number be 3 characters long, whether by adding zeros or invisible characters, may help line things up.
I realize you were writing your response while I updated my own suggestion. Any chance you like my updated suggestion any better?
As for the 'Overall' tab for monitoring other victory types. I guess I should have elaborated on that one. I imagined a layout similar to your new 'Show Details' view, with civ icons to the left, icons representing different victory conditions up top, with raw numbers in the body. Giving a quick, detailed view of all victory conditions. I realize it's beyond the current scope of this mod.
Love the updated tooltips.
1) Names should remain as they are since the referencing status is still required for context. I might revise the tiny trophies "method" with alternate HUD location though. "Show Details" checkbox must stay there too for technical reasons & is the only principle that "removes" stats from the Civ-Boxes -- some people prefer having access to tooltips with a single total value. The seven types should keep their global variations in details as well.
2) Quite aware of that strange UI "flaw". Thinking about a solution via LUA rewrites but not a priority.. let's get the other concept(s) functional first! Tooltips are a major feature, AFAIC.
3) Not sure how anything more could help the current Firaxis design. This mod is all about *Scoring* details.. almost exclusively. By design.
@Plerion, ICONS --- The familiarity of the old system is truly helpful, visually. Logos versus Leader-Faces Is rather cool at times, IMO.
Good suggestions anyway. Keep 'hem coming.
Currently, hovering over the civ icon results in a pop-up tooltip displaying the leader icon, leader name, and civ name. (which helps with memory)
Sure to become an indispensable mod.
I have a few suggestions:
1) Compress things further by removing leader names (just keep the icons and the hover over tooltips) and not adding the trophies bellow the total score. This would remove the need for the ‘Show Details’ option.
2) Make the different columns easier to distinguish from one another. It’s currently hard to make out which column your in. Having the numbers properly line up with the icons up top would be a good start. Alternating colors would also help a lot. Maybe alternating between 2 shades of grey (don’t need 50). The gold, silver, bronze colored numbers as shown in the preview screenshot would still work.
3) Please implement something similar in the ‘Overall’ tab, not just the ‘Score’ tab. This would be great for keeping a better eye on other victory types. And would make me very happy.
If you accept a suggestion, maybe you can change the titles by [ICON_X], or decrease their font size, so you don't have the odd "Diplomacy" button isolated from the rest.
Sooooo, to be clear;
Civics + Empire + Great People + Religion + Technology + Wonders + Eras
Second preview snapshot is just an informal way to "HINT" about what we're currently developing as a new feature --- WIP!
1-5) Indicate or predict how the custom Tooltips (for each of the seven stats types from Civics to Eras .. L/R) should appear in the next version or slowly.. via in-between updates.
6) The Grid/Buttons which will be clickable to give focus (Empire has been temporarily CheckMarked on the first preview image.. for example) on any such categories (..7) for processing of various parameters and HUD resets.
7) Ranking the leaders via scoring totals .. as a simple ruleset reminder.
8) Margin scaling "flaw" caused by inherent string fields as defined by native LUA code mechanics.
9) Gold/Silver/Bronze parser values to differentiate who qualifies for the leading trio tiers.
ASV == Alternative Score Victory mod by Sejick! :)
Sooooo -- be aware **NOT** to use both our gimmick simultaneously... until we (again) provide the hybrid solution (or another tricky swapper) as what we did for the previous RF WorldRankings code files.
