I can't get this mod working, even when I use it as my only mod. I tried creating a "user.script.txt" and writing "mod large_font.pack;" in it, but to no avail. Is there a different method for the new mod launcher. Yes, I've tried Lossless Scaling, but it just doesn't look as good as native 4k.

If anyone interested in playing in 2025 and struggle with small font, wide screen, high-res, I solved this issue by using "Loseless Scaling" app. Basically, you launch app + game (in a window mode, with resolution where the font is readable). Then in the app you select any scaling type, i prefer LS1 with factor 1.5 and resize before scaling option. Press scale, then go to shogun window. It will be scaled after 5 seconds to match your screen.

If you are using a translation mod, this mod wont work for you.

thank you so much

Need to do this part with manual installation, and it works.

- edit "c:\Users\***\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\Shogun2\scripts\user.script.txt" and insert mod large_font.pack

is this compatible while using virtual super resolution? i enabled it in the launcher, not sure what else to do beyond that

Works great, thanks

I'm having the same issue as TOSHIRO below. It doesn't show up in the mod manager at all, even though all of my other mods do.
Dagoth Ur 24 mar 2024, ore 9:35
Great mod, just wish that there was a way to scale the whole UI without lowering resolution.
T0SHIR0 23 mar 2024, ore 5:56
tried to figure it out but failed to get it working for Win 11 - with a 4k monitor .. i dont even seem to be able to make it show up as a mod to select. when i run the game i get the option to pick shogun 2 and encyclopedia. Cant tell if its me doing something wrong or just not possible for a variety of possible reasons.
Apollo 6 mar 2024, ore 7:04
still work thank!!

Leonardo 2 ago 2023, ore 3:33
hi, anyway to make the font bigger still? I just tried to run shogun 2 in 4K and the front became hard to read again. Appreciate it if you could add another version or share how to edit it.
ZeroX  [autore] 27 lug 2023, ore 23:13
Yes it's a side effect because the UI size doesn't change and some large descriptions may don't fit.
I did a quick revision and the mod still works enabling it in the launcher.
dmitryme 27 lug 2023, ore 14:07
After I subscribed to mod in Steam, it did not work. This is caused by Total War launcher disabling it by default, as it complains that the mod is outdated ("this mod was made for an older verrsion of the game and may cause your game to crush").

The solution is to enable it manually in launcher -> mod manager. Seems to be working afterwards. In game somewhere bigger text does not fit the designated area and is truncated, but as far as I understand, this is an expected side effect of the mod.

Hey @giolebowski, You can try to set the user.script.txt as read only and save it in unicode format. Some user said it worked for him some time ago.
giolebowski 24 giu 2023, ore 9:06
Hi everyone, I coulnd't find a way to make this mod work on my PC.

I've subscribed the mod from Steam,
I've placed the .pack file in the data folder,
I've created the user.script.txt file with this text - mod "large_font.pack";
I've unistalled the game and Steam once.

Am I missing something? Maybe Steam mods require some additional procedure? Maybe Shogun 2 does? Maybe the script file requires some additional text?
I'm running the game on W10. Thank you!
Viceroy Günther von Lichler 11 apr 2023, ore 10:18
oh thank god, im like 3000 years at this point and this fucking 2k monitor lol
now i can read the text again
Racemate 28 gen 2023, ore 23:54
Sometimes the text breaks out of the frame and becomes partially invisible. If it wasn't for this problem, this would be a nice mod.

AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\Shogun2\scripts\user.script.txt
Normally this file is created by the game and lists the mods and the load order. Glad you found a solution.
Igor Kool 22 gen 2023, ore 5:17
turns out i had to go to config location of game (appdata) and create user.script and manually write mod large_font.pack; in it, and then set it as read only and save in unicode format. all is well
Igor Kool 22 gen 2023, ore 4:18
Can't get this to work no matter what, manual or steam subscribing.
Linder 3 nov 2022, ore 9:47
All work, thx :)
ArizaSK 29 ott 2022, ore 22:33
nope, i installed the game yesterday after a very long time i first installed it and i never used any mods
ZeroX  [autore] 29 ott 2022, ore 13:13
@ArizaSK
Are you using other mods besides this one?
ArizaSK 29 ott 2022, ore 10:12
hello, the font change is not working for me, i tried both with the pastebin link and workshop. is there anything i can do?
HotPizza87 31 mag 2022, ore 17:19
Great mod. One thing I think could be improved is the faction traits in the FOTS section being too small. The text size for everything else is great.
meme_philosopher 27 mag 2022, ore 15:29
THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Quack 28 set 2021, ore 17:55
thanks for this mod, would you make another mod that make banners bigger? cause i can't see what type of units they are while zoomed out.
CROWNHAMMER 12 giu 2021, ore 22:11
Works great! It's a game saver! :D
Lucifer Sam 28 apr 2021, ore 21:09
@ ZeroX: Yea I tried that and a bunch of other things and it's clearly not coming from your end. Nothing is working, so I think the next step would be an Einstein project and by the time I fix it I won't even wanna play anymore lol. Thanks for the response though.
Dongmyeong 24 apr 2021, ore 4:50
@Lucifer Sam: Works with Darthmod for me.

@ZerooX: Could you make a version, that's just a tad bigger?
Say 20 px to 22 rather than untouched. 18 px to 22. And all others +6, rather than +4.
ZeroX  [autore] 23 apr 2021, ore 8:58
@Lucifer Sam
If the mod touches the files where the fonts are located that could lead to a conflict. You can modify the script file that lists the load order of the mods, and change the load order. You may need to find the file X:\Users\XXXX\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\Shogun2\scripts\user.script.txt
Lucifer Sam 23 apr 2021, ore 4:15
Does this work with Darthmod? I have it checked off on the list and it's not working

Thank you so much. it's so much better for Shogun 2
Miyamoto Musashi 1 mag 2020, ore 12:34
This is so much better. Before using this mod I had to stay close to the monitor to read the small text. Now I can have a good posture a last. Thanks!
warrat106 29 apr 2020, ore 5:05
my grandfather uses a regular tv and has a hard time seeing, we have the mod installed... and i wondering if there was a way to make the font even bigger...

This is a must have mod if you're playing on a 4K display.
Scotvince 3 feb 2020, ore 10:08
Hello. This mod is better than vanilla, but it's still way too small for a screen 28" 4k resolution.
Autoscare 4 gen 2020, ore 11:15
WOW, my eyes thank you LOL
PunchingHippo 29 dic 2019, ore 11:11
Thank you for this mod! Makes the text so much easier to read on higher res
