you may want to check out some speedmods, i personally use a 1000ms speedmod, wich is great. it allows for fast planetary takeoffs without the need for dozends of hydrogentanks or batteriepower - with this mod the jumpgate makes more sense to use for it takes you up to +500ms in .5sec (depending on your massblocks/weight ratio)
How well does it run power wise? Does it need time to recharge with the solar panels when used often?
I often wish there was some other option for controlling speed in game. Would make building stuff like this worth more than just for the roleplay aspect. I would love have a 200 cap on large ships, 300 on small, then an extra multiplier or something for gravity assists.
