Ah ok, same idear. Sounds like you were either overwritting or not closing a bracket of sorts. I have no experierence with this in particular, but would think that if there would be currently other mapmodes makers they may have had that problem too.
If the place holder would not work, i myself f.e. have as default mapmode most of the time the empire mode, that you copy that for the place holders instead of having placeholder which may not work.
When I tried to fix this bug, the main menu button ceased functioning. If anyone knows a fix for this, please let me know. I'll experiment with it, but right now, the only work-around that I can find is to create four placeholder map modes at the end of each row or to write a fake dialog that would contain custom map modes and positioning it in that corner.
Unfortunately, Stellaris doesn't (yet) contain support for custom user interfaces. Maybe if we pray really hard and pester the devs that will change. Paradox does seem to be accommodating at times.
Now that are just my five cent on the subject and it is clearly upto you how much time and energy you would put into this. In any case i am looking forward with what you would come up. Take care.
The others he has under category "AMM Madmode Packs" are partly way too specific from my point of view, but there maybe a lot of other people who think otherwise. You would need to check the subscription numbers if you would want to know how popular those ahd been.
from his mod discription the following would fit most likely into your current mod as they are all about aspects of warfare
War, Claims, Fleet Power, Fleet Strength
and the following i also find advantages as they show aspects of different fields of strength of empires and therefor i know what i am facing and make up my mind if i stand a chance.
Economy, Food, Industry Output, Technology
I always found the ethics or government map modes useful, the other ones were meh.
