Power Map Modes

Description
This mod adds four new map modes that correspond to the power ratings of the empires. You can now view which empires have the stronger and weaker fleet, economic power, technological power, and diplomatic weight at a glance.

Yes, this mod works with version 2.6. I've also added a map mode for diplomatic weight.

does this still work?

From a design point. Something what can not be seen should also not have a function due to shortcuts. Empty map modes with no effect for those 4 icons which are invisble, perhaps? So the use of a shrotcut would not have an effect either.

Ah ok, same idear. Sounds like you were either overwritting or not closing a bracket of sorts. I have no experierence with this in particular, but would think that if there would be currently other mapmodes makers they may have had that problem too.

If the place holder would not work, i myself f.e. have as default mapmode most of the time the empire mode, that you copy that for the place holders instead of having placeholder which may not work.

I've been looking into adding more modes, but I have run into a problem. The GUI file that provides most of the interface, including the map modes section, has a bug. It lists the map modes as being twelve icons per row when only eight fit on screen. This means that map modes nine through twelve in each row display off the right side of the screen. They can still be accessed by hotkey, just not seen.

When I tried to fix this bug, the main menu button ceased functioning. If anyone knows a fix for this, please let me know. I'll experiment with it, but right now, the only work-around that I can find is to create four placeholder map modes at the end of each row or to write a fake dialog that would contain custom map modes and positioning it in that corner.

Unfortunately, Stellaris doesn't (yet) contain support for custom user interfaces. Maybe if we pray really hard and pester the devs that will change. Paradox does seem to be accommodating at times.

As he did it, having a mod for each mode and 1-3 mods which may have a category or all mods included seems sensible though. That way you make sure people who are looking for something specific are satisfied as well those who are looking for a comprensive addtion of their map modes.
Now that are just my five cent on the subject and it is clearly upto you how much time and energy you would put into this. In any case i am looking forward with what you would come up. Take care.

The ethics and government map modes are certainly good for players who have a more diplomatic gameplay in mind so they can micro better these aspects and get perhaps a federation going. I especially find this also interesteing when using randomly generated species so i can have a look at the flavour and variances of current species ingame. It adds to immersion.

The others he has under category "AMM Madmode Packs" are partly way too specific from my point of view, but there maybe a lot of other people who think otherwise. You would need to check the subscription numbers if you would want to know how popular those ahd been.

from his mod discription the following would fit most likely into your current mod as they are all about aspects of warfare
War, Claims, Fleet Power, Fleet Strength

and the following i also find advantages as they show aspects of different fields of strength of empires and therefor i know what i am facing and make up my mind if i stand a chance.
Economy, Food, Industry Output, Technology
