Pistons can jam sometimes. Paint a part of the switch or place a block on it.

now i put everything correctly but no it wont retract

That's an old tutorial. I would follow the newer ones in the description of the collection.

i did what you did with the old track switch with the train tracks by sehr but it did not work it would not fit with any of the switches that i tried

It is only made for 7u track (standard gauge)
