When I'm gifted a free unit by the mayor, how do I actually obtain it ? Great level - I can't seem to beat it because the third phase just wipes me out, but it is fun.

How do you save during each scenario? I failed right at the very end of phase 2... Do I have to replay the entire phase 2 from start? I don't see an option to save or load during the game.

Very nice map, rather easy, but not boring. In game advice and story telling is great, gives more depth to the game other than plain old zombie slaughtering.. A good example how this game can still be good without Titans and Giants, simply by good scenario design.

@POBmaestro - My apologies; it appears that the crashing was due to my PC's GPU hardware issues rather than your map. I have completed the map and really enjoyed it. I look forward to trying your other maps :-)

@Conan Nemic - sorry the game is crashing for you. This is a rare bug for all custom maps. If you have any crash logs or anything you could post them on the discussion forums under bug reporting. Hope you are able to enjoy the rest of the campaign without the crashes :)

This map has caused my game to crash once and my PC to crash twice.

Apart from that I do like the map. I will check Phase 3 . . .

I have added 2 conversations with Ava, a loot truck to the south (with lore) and hints to the game over screen. Phase 2X is also now out for those that find this map too easy :)

@AmmarBanyzahr - thank you. I think you will enjoy the rest of the series! Phase 3 does a lot more character and world building, Phase 4 is is a longer map and Phase 5 (ETA end of Jan) is all about the story and the hero personalities :)

Nice job, I have enjoyed phase 1 and 2. However, I think you need to add dialogs between the heros so we may know more about their personalities. giving more depth to the story.

No idea why people are offended. The British Isles is the correct term for all the islands that make up Britain and Ireland. There's nothing political about it, it's just the geographical term. Keep up the good work POBmaestro!

What bothers me more is when all my maps are downrated at the same time without any feedback. I don't get why someone would play my map, hate it, try the next one, hate it and then down vote them, or maybe someone doesn't like them being popular. I don't mind negative feedback as I know my maps are far from perfect, I just much prefer it when someone doesn't like something they just say why so I can address the issue. This is what I've being trying to do by releasing the X maps for increased difficulty, fixed bugs and changed little things all based on feedback...but heyho can't always please everyone :)

How can the term British Isles offensive? I dont get it. Seriously if you google it its a term from roughly the 1st century BC that has been used by many many different nations to decribe a specific region and doesnt have its origins in conquests of the old British Empire. Do you find it equally offensive to use the English names for individual countries and do you instead use the terms from their native languages? I just dont get it, its like you choosing to get offended and then making up a justification if your own mind to fit it.

I appreciate the support but I think it's a valid point and I have changed the term to 'region' - it only took 5 minutes to change and I'd rather not have any more comments on this please :)

On another note I have just released Phase 3X - it's the sequel to this map but is for more hardcore players that like punishment. I will use the feedback on the difficulty on Phase 3X to make a Phase 2X nightmare mode for this map. If you found this map hard then I'd stick to regular Phase 3 after you have played this map.

@syphonax it's good to have your feedback and again and I am sorry for the offence. I think having been raised in England I've never seen it be raised as being offensive, but obviously different countries will educate differently (e.g. I'm sure Germany educates WW1/WW2 different to the USA or Russia).

Anyway thank you for your good wishes and as you say this is not the place for any further discussion. However I will be removing the term in the next update of each map (should be tonight). Thanks again and yes hopefully the official campaign will be good :)

@ POBmaestro The term itself "British Isles" on its own, is outdated, derogatory and highly offensive, I would have thought that anyone using it would be aware of its historical significance? lll say no more on the subject as I dont want to derail people developing this game and this is not the place for such discussions.

Good luck and where the hell is the They are Billions campaign mode already?? it better be worth the wait!!

Well done @POBmaestro!! Just finished 2 & 3. Love the little events of trucks etc. I do not have the talent or imagination to do something like you have done. But I appreciate the work that must have gone into it so far. I am sure I will do the entire campaign.
As for the criticisms of authenticity: Please shrug it off as always have to have something to make me feel better about myself by criticizing others.
Pleae do it your way and stick to your goals. You seem to answer almost every comment and haven't seen that from many others on the maps I have played. This alone sets you apart and shows me that you care. Be well!!

Syphonax that is a very valid point but what a ridiculous way to put it across. POBmaestro if you are using any images of Ireland then you defo should reference Ireland in the title. I'm from Scotland and it would be the same if you were to refer to Inverness being in England.

@syphonax – I am sorry if I offended you. This story campaign isn’t supposed to be political – ultimately the story referred to Kirkwall as the last settlement of the British Isles and does not necessarily insinuate that this term covers the Republic of Ireland. It is shown on the map along with Northern France (which is another can of worms) and land borders are still visible on this map. In my 30 years on this planet I have never known the term British Isles to be so offensive (and I have a few Irish people in my circles that I will delicately ask about it some more), but now I know. I think I would remove the term in the maps and change it to simply be “Kirkwall is the last known colony” if you can understand that I wasn’t out to offend anyone or purposely be ignorant, and so perhaps you don't need to be quite so harsh about it in the future?

@Handlebard - thanks for your feedback and explanation. I think Great Britain and United Kingdom are also potentially upsetting for some people and Phase 13+ was potentially going to explore further afield. I guess for my story I need to form a new term “Kirkwallians”. I guess ultimately in this story as I chose Kirkwall to survive it means everyone becomes Scottish anyway. However, as will be explained in Phase 5, Kirkwall became a sanctuary for all nationalities. So how it’s all carved up at the end of the conquest would be a thorny issue, but luckily this scenario is just a fictitious game.

@pobmaestro - thanks for putting the effort into creating this story. I look forward to seeing the future maps. As for names it's impossible to keep everyone happy all of the time... The Wikipedia description of Britiish Isles https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Isles seems fairly objective - explaining what the terms is commonly understood to mean, while acknowledging the Irish objection (Doesn't mention the presence of any zombies though :-) ). If you wanted to be politically correct you could say 'Britain and Ireland' though as the 11 phases you've listed locations for all seem to be set in what is known as 'Great Britain' https://www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/blog/2011/08/whats-the-difference-between-uk-britain-and-british-isles/ .

Shame @syphonax just complains about lack of understanding rather than answering your polite question.

At the end of the day - it's just a game....

The Republic of Ireland, which covers most of the island of Ireland, and will eventually become reunited with Northern Ireland, is not British and the term "Bristish Isles" is an insulting colloquialism to anyone who is Irish. The island of Ireland is IRISH not British. Let me know when you understand this yeah?

@神韵 it is easy as it is an early story mode campaign. Later maps will be harder. For now try playing without clearing the map so the final wave will be hard :)

@Arti11ery I'm really sorry this happened to you and thanks for letting me know. That's the first I've heard of this on this map and in the editor there are no zombies spawning in the trees there, But to try and stop it potentially happening again I've removed the zombies that spawn on the edge of the trees in that area. Hope this helps and thanks for reporting it :steamhappy:

@denisfrankovic045 thanks very much! This campaign story is my own but it draws inspiration from lots of different things. For example the title of my series is familiar but the story has nothing to do with the RAGE virus from 28 Days Later. More will be revealed as soon as Phase 3 is released first thing on Tuesday 8th Jan :)

@honzikklima thanks for your valuable feedback. The first wave from the south should come as a bit of a surprise, but you have 24 hours' notice before it arrives (compared to 8 hours in survivial mode). I admit the dialogue from the explorers 4 days before the following two waves could be a bit confusing, so I have tweaked the dialogue to make it clearer which way the next horde should come from. Thanks again and I hope you will give it another try :)

This map was confusing. Based on the layout and specificully the dialogue, it was difficult to discern from which direction the hordes would approach. There felt like there was an emphasis on the main road. Sure, surprises are more than welcome, but it felt misleading. Perhaps that was intentional?
My intuition had perpared me to expect anything from any angle but was was not enough. My exact thought was "if the horde attacks from the **** side then im screwd and then im done with this map." Which is what happened.

On the positive: the lack of resourses concept was quite clever. I really liked it. Make gold fast so you have to purchase your resouces? VERY creative. Big thumbs up to that.

Perhaps work on the map layout a more?

@MateusK - Phase 3 is not yet finished. The map is built and is undergoing playtesting. It should be out by 12th Jan.

@alden.monzon - sorry the game is crashing for you. Hopefully the devs are aware and are working on a fix.

@andrew1 - thanks for the feedback on the difficulty! That for me is the hardest bit to design, and it sounds like I managed to hit what I was aiming for. Part 3 is not far away now!

Outstanding map and awesome story too!! I'm not very skilled at this game, so I found it challenging, but not overhwhelming to the point that my blood pressure went up. It was a lot of fun! Thank you for your hard work and I greatly look forward to part 3.

amazing scenario once again :). a really cool feature to see the completed map revealed after playing the first part. very much looking forward to playing the third part.
also probably the best idea to take the music out as many experienced problems with it. I personally found it pretty cool and engaging (especially after failing the first time and replaying; it is catchy).

@Matthias thanks again for the feedback on this map! I decided not to include oil or iron as I want to try and re-create the RTS campaign style of introducing units throughout the campaign where not every unit is available from the start. I think we are used to being spoilt with the survival maps! I wanted to create a feeling of roadblocks along the road and the sense of losing them one by one at the end with the hope of survival, so I agree with all your points and future maps probably won't be as restrictive, but I'm glad this map proved enjoyable :)

I've gotta say I'm loving these maps. this one in particular really tickled my love of the mix between campaign hero style maps, and build up your city. I think maps like these really highlight the capability of they are billions as a style. I will say it feels really stunting to not only have no oil, but no iron deposits in any regard, and like 3 or 5 light stone deposits, but a few plays helped adjust how it should feel to expand. It feels very touch and go with the idea of having mostly rangers and having to fall behind wall after all(which I love) because most of it is small chokes and ballistaes just don't fit along the main road XD a great map for sure, keep up the good work.

@フロリアン - thank you and you are correct in saying you cannot tweak the rewards in the editor, so yes you got lucky! No offence taken about the left side of the map. I agree it is lacking. This area is mapped on the real life landscape which is mainly open fields, which I agree is a little boring (not to mention causing problems with AI). Future maps will focus more on detail and hopefully more in-game assets will be released too!

@Der Hubi - thanks and after a lot of feedback music has been removed and won't feature in future maps. No matter how much I reduce the volume it is still loud for many.

@HUMBOLDT REDBEARD707 - great feedback thank you. I'm amazed it's actually playing how I hope it to be! I'm excited to release the future maps soon :)
