I've just obtained my lasts achievements recently and didn't know what to do anymore on TAB, but still wanted to play it. Your campaign is just incredible. Well done. I was going for just content at first, but now I've even been hooked up by the story !

@EFG/Wenex - Welcome to They Are Billions and great to hear you're eager to play my campaigns! For this first campaign the maps have a fixed difficulty that is considered "easy" and there are separate "X" versions of each map which a considered "hard". For the sequel campaign (29 Years Later) there is 3 difficulties included in each map to choose from. Basically the harder the difficulty the more infected and less time you have to prepare.

I look forward to your feedback on the difficulty - I want "easy" to be not too hard for new players but it is hard to balance it right. Hope you have fun :)

Hey I just bought the game, after I finish the campaign Im eager to play your both campaigns :) Could you tell me if it is possible to set your own difficulty on each mission? Or is it set in stone by you?

Probably about ~8 hours of focused attempts.

I tried a few not so serious attempts the first time and then I kept playing through a few attempts til I kept getting stuck clearing the last corner just below McKraken's wall.

I think I have an idea to clear down to that position if I risk not clearing the upper roads from the explosive barrels and I leave on sniper to slowly start clearing out the zombies from where McKenzie is picked up. I only need one sniper to reach McKraken anyways so if I leave a sniper to start clearing that is less wasted clear time.

Well, I was clearing the last infected at the bottom of the map and McCauley deserted. Unexpected considering McKraken is the greedy one.

Alright, it's settled. Whenever I boot up the game I am going to play ~10 days of this map.

I'm going to completely clear this map with the uselessfer method. (useless lucifer)

I will prove that clones are better served for mindless clearing than heroes

It definitely has. Although I think the only one I had issue with was the farmer in phase 2. I had cleared the entire left side a wave before the final, but I am not sure he triggered.

@Scorpius Sting: ah fair enough, sorry if you spent ages looking for secrets and didn't find anything notable on the first map! Generally there is 1 secret per map which you do get by exploring, but the first map doesn't really have much hidden as there's enough cryptic messages in the story text. In future maps the secret will usually be where there is a destroyed truck or something like that. Hope this helps on future maps :)

@Lord Luck: Oh I wasn't stuck. I was just trying to grind away the zombies because I know the campaign has a lot of secrets stored away. I just thought if there were secrets then it wasn't exactly obvious or maybe you just had to keep at it a few hours to whittle away the zombies and unearth the secret.

@Scorpius Sting: this was my first ever map so apologies if it's not the easiest to follow. There is a route for the snipers to follow; you shouldn't need to clear too many zombies. You can watch this video if you are getting a bit stuck:

Can anyone confirm if there are secrets in this phase? I spent a few hours trying to grind my way through all locations before giving up. There is just way too many zombies in clusters and some seem to even navigate all the way around the hedges to attack me from areas I already cleared.

I've made a fix but I can't publish the update to the Steam Workshop at the moment. For some reason no-one can update existing maps at the moment but a bug report has been submitted so hopefully there is a fix soon.

It appears the problem introduced to this map is the Harpies ignore the script to stop them attacking the Command Center. They don't attack 100% of the time as I managed to do one run just fine, but obviously it's frustrating when it happens more often than not.

I'll post here when I can release the update...waiting on the game devs now...

@eduran - I just tried this mission and it failed for me too after 1 day, so something has changed :(

Would really like to try it, but the mission always fails after between 24 to 48 hours for no apparent reason. It just tells me 'The colony has fallen'. Is it possible that 1.0 somehow broke the map?

After playing the first 5 main missions of the official campaign + all available sitemissions, I have to say, that your custom map campaign is much better and that with the tools of the pre release ....

@Moroder - sorry for the very late reply. There are plenty of directions in-game, but to find the 3rd sniper you follow the pylons all the way to the south-east.

@Rettbull - thanks for the updated feedback and glad you are liking it still! The maps do get harder as they go, but it does also depend on play style as each map is different in some way.

I hope the dev will make it so that hero units can have their health boosted or at least make their path finding better to make it less frustrating!

under one of your other maps you wrote, that you like feedback, cause else you wont understand why people play so i gave you some :) I am at map 8 right now, lost some times, but still like it. I have an idea how to beat it the next time. (last wave got surprisingly hard compared to the other ones, so i miscalculated my defence once, the other where fast expending resulting in a "push back")
The only frustracting is your map concepts dont go well with the AI of troops. You have to babysit them the whole time or you loose, cause the stupid ranger is running against a tree instead of going arround and get killed - but thats "only half" your fault xD

@Rettbull - thanks for the feedback! Map 1 is a slow map and I'm glad so many people have got past this introduction and enjoyed the rest of the campaign. The feedback on the maps is they get better and better! Maps 5 + 10 are story maps like this one but hopefully by then you are really into it and come to love the lore :)

The first map is realy boring, but endure it, it get much better. played 1-4 till now and i like it. the concept of 28 days in map 2 +3 with only low tech and 56 days on map 4 with advanced but not high tech is realy nice. played another great map before, thats why i gave it a try on the 2nd map, thanks "Riggsgrad Expedition" for allowing me to see another great work

@majesticturttle - thanks for the feedback! It wouldn't really be possible to do an objectives log on this map. A button can be added to the Command Center which could be used for the objectives but as you don't have a Command Center in this map that wouldn't work. The objectives in this map are quite straight forward - find 3 snipers and then kill the Harpies and take the CC, but when I go through and bring the older maps up to scratch I do plan to make it easier to follow/understand.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I have made an update to this map to address some potential issues and hopefully make the map flow better:

-Added hints to the losing screen. It is also now customised so you get a specific message based on what caused the failure.
-Added a new secret message.
-Added more text to McKraken to make it clearer on how to get to the quieter fields.
-Removed some infected on the starting river so the bit with McCauley is less of a grind. There was this many infected to begin with so you could enjoy more of the intro music but the music had to be removed.
-Removed some infected which might have been causing the rare case of failure due to the Command Center being randomly attacked.

@Tritoamar - it's a bug that very rarely happens now but is very frustrating nonetheless. I think it happens when infected roam towards the Command Center but they travel a long way and I can only re-produce it once every dozen tries so it's hard to do things to fix it as they seem to wander 30+ cells!

As for the term "herd" it is intended in my mind. Normally it refers to animals but I've taken the term from The Walking Dead and I think it fits fine, see here: https://walkingdead.fandom.com/wiki/Herd

I don't know if it's a bug but I randomly lost the game for no apparent reason. Just told me one of the snipers died before I even found the third one.

Neither of the guys I had took any damage. This happened right after the dialogue about the herd southwest.

As a side note: herd sounds a little weird as a descriptor for a group of zombies. Swarm, pack, or mob would make more sense than herd in this context. Ubless the intent was for it to sound strange in which case disregard this.
