@ysoserious. Those deserters in the middle get a lot of wtf and 'look here pointers'. LMAO every time. This winter version was just an experiment to see if a single river with same water level could be feasible on the map. After it was done I decided to publish it as a complement to the main Kharkov Massacre map. It was at the time of the free giveaway and its exposure was massive. Could not believe the popularity in comparison given my efforts mostly on making the Kharkov Massacre map flawless. But there it is, lol. Thanks for your original work mate

Oh and those soldiers in the middle of the map I honestly had no idea how to delete them in editor May be a bug :( I just ignored them when i played Haha

Hey nice job on the map! Honestly didnt expect my map to be used (originally posted it on steam so I could access it on other computers). Thanks for the props and keep up the good work Layndarat!

@Wild 2of2 Where did this 1000 character limit come from? Deary me. I'm not completely against the idea of a moon style map, however many maps used with modded tuning packs end up looking like the moon in any case. Also modders are not allowed the tools by Relic that they need to make factions appear in space armour, have space tanks or have lasers, etc.

I do enjoy seeing different modders skin work though lmao often at some of the more bizarre ones appearing in game. All the modders are doing great work and I think they all deserve thumbs up just for their effort and having a go.

@Wild 1of2 Mixing LOTR with Coh2 and a dash of Star Wars for good measure? The former I prefer to read or write about and imagine and the later has gone way off track by repeating eps 4 and 5 with 7 and 8.

As for this game and maps, this particular KSitS map is already fairly wild with the river system and the number of bridges, all of the main bridges corresponding to roads on the Kharkov Massacre map in fact. The pedestrian bridges are there in some cases because they need to be.

This game has been out for a while it would be cool if we got some more "unique" maps with there own flavor. I really wish I had the time to figure out the map editor myself, but Im already invested in total war modding so I just dont have the time. Your map looks great though so Ill throw you some feed back after I give it a go.

Basically make Helms Deep but using the German Assets, make it super over the top like something right out of Castle Wolfenstein. You could have a story about some german scientist working on some doomsday weapon that the allies have to stop. Also if it was possible to make the ground and dirt color palette Grey and full of craters and you set it at night, you might be able to make it look like the map was set on the moon. This would also mean you wouldnt have to worry about placing vegetation an such.

@Wild That can be done, bunkers, concrete textured ground, artillery and 88s set on them. The rounded sandbags are part of Brit options... Most things can be done, it's just having the right map setting. Atm I'm thinking of an Arracourt map with a few ideas kicking around. A German fortress setup like that one is probably good for a Berlin 'end of the line' for Germany kind of map, or maybe a Normandy map but there are plenty of those around already. As far as that goes though I'm pretty sure the Soviets made bigger ones.

@[2142]FatCat919 Hello again. See my response to Hi There below.

Also, the summer version of this KSitS map, Kharkov Massacre, has existed a good deal longer. If you are playing the KM summer map with the vanilla game or most mods except Battleground Europe, it will be very difficult to hold any kind of front line due to the silly short ranges you are stuck with. That might be why you want rivers with bridges making points that can be easily defended. Try using the Battleground Europe mod and you will be able to spread out your company to defend a far larger area of turf while you build up an attack force of armour, flammers or whatever.

If realism is not your cup of tea as I said to Hi There, below, I will at some point make a summer version of this KSitS map, possibly with additional bridges and you will have the choke points you are after

@ Hi There Gday, the summer version of this map, Kharkov Massacre, does not have the extensive river system this map does, there is a river in the south east corner and the wetlands in the south, that's all with the intent of that map to offer distinct different zones of which there are several; city street fighting and open steppes conflict. The river system was made especially for this KSitS map due to me wanting to offer something different than just a straight season swap. Also there is a lot of tactics and fun to be had smashing the ice at the right moment.

That said, given the popularity of the map (which appears to be trending against normal winter maps) I will most likely make a summer version of this KSitS map. There may be a need for additional bridges in some areas which I suspect is what you are after... Cheers

@(2142)FatCat919 G'day mate, if I had my way with the map tools, everything would be destructible. Understand this about me, I don't believe in choke points that cannot be bypassed unless terrain or well set up positions cause it, I don't believe in indestructible vegetation as in the ridiculous groves that plague so many otherwise good maps - even with Lancaster bombing runs not a single leaf will be shaken loose... So yes, blow the bridges to kingdom come. The water is ice also. Cheers mate

this map is great for comp stomp and people who like to be defensive, the sectioning of each area into islands with bridges makes the map containable and thus allow sthe player to control the flow of the battle
