hi guys. most of these screens are out of date with how the map looks. ill be updating them and the map soon aswell btw <3 also yes. some funny shit happened while i was testing and getting screenshots for the workshop lol i love this map so much and im aware there are some instances of cars getting caught up on certain walls. that will all be fixed soon

@Turbo_Scrooge Read the previous discussion. The map has Windows only lighting right now, he'll get to it when it can. P.s. it's not an Apple issue it's a "everything but Windows" issue.

I haven't played on this map yet, but I can tell you that I think you would do well to add a lot of elevation variety. This map looks pretty good, but the whole thing is flat which would probably get old pretty quick. Just a suggestion; like I said, I haven't played it yet. Will download now.

lmfao im sure they are aware of that, but they can only work with what they got for now. id love to make this map have more particle effects and such, but im also gonna have to learn more as i go. it's really a shame it isn't working for you, and also a shame that i fucked up the REAL update i was gonna put out for this because the lighting, shadows and water made it look amazing for ravenfield. hopefully i can fix it though, ill be sure to keep you guys updated.

I've seen a few maps that used rain but they went nuts with how it's done (because again Unity is for the whole game not just the map) so when it was exported for the game it just nuked your frame rate because there was nothing in the export process to know things were wrong/bad or there should be limits. I see so many issues even on working maps, even some "official" maps. Texture flickering is terrible. For the longest time Dustbowl had half the map vanish if you looked out a specific hangers door. My god the issues! Worse to me is we have a map called DUST BOWL that has NO FLIPPING DUST! You'd expect dust storms but nope, clear and sunny day...le wtf?!

This is one of those tricky things. Light placement, light hue, diffusion/weather. They all play a part to set the mood. There have been a few maps that tried fog etc but they ran poor due to various issues and the hue was wrong so it just looked wrong. Right now there are so many issues with map making that aren't defined for the game engine. Unity is able to do things SR isn't intending for the game so guys make maps without restrint and then it causes all sorts of issues.

i was just saying that yesterday while making this map lol and i was thinking about setting the time for this map at early morning so the sunrise on the ocean and coronas would look cool, i looked at it in unity and thought it looked amazing but the shadows cast off the far right and left boulders basically covers the map which isnt cool lol

I hate it too man. Comically one of the things I was pestering SteelRaven to add was Time Of Day which SHOULD negate static lighting being compiled into maps and make this easier on everyone but I don't think he's ever taken note of it nor would I imagine he has the time to add such a feature. I had REALLY hoped for dynamic weather and lighting. So many maps looks so meh with the same high noon ass lighting.

Relax heh we won't die if you never fix it or if it takes a few weeks. This is sadly just part of Unity's lack of...UNITY! Some guys don't care, they use all the functions for their platform and leave things broken for the others. Get to it when you can and maybe write a guide on how to avoid lighting and alpha channel issues that break the cross platform capabilities of the game for others.

Well the solution is disable the Windows only lighting. :) As I said on my screenshot when you see the "Mac friendly" tag it's because all the Windows only BS has been disabled. Sadly this also means most times non-windows only features are also removed because guys don't realize part of the issue is the fuschia bug. Either way you cut it the problem is simply the tools don't export correctly. Basically there are a bunch of Windows only features (and texture pathing problems) that show up when you load workshop items on another platform. In my case I'm NOT on an Apple machine but I still see them because the issue is Windows vs everything else.

I've just updated the terrain of the map and changed some of the lighting. next update will add 2 more points and more detail to the map and lighting fixes.

Yes I am positive it's not an "error" on my end. This along with the Fuscha bug are common problems when maps and items are exported with platform specific lighting or features. The objects are there, but they have zero lighting which means they were exported with lighting features only available on one of the three platforms Ravenfield is for.

Sadly the majority of the map is pure black.
