Hey there! Despite still having intention of releasing this map, I sadly had an hard stop on it because of irl. Currently I have to finish off a few things, make a bunch of anti-grief triggers in certain areas and optimize it by converting some things into props. I sadly cannot give an ETA, but whenever I'll get more free I'll make sure to put this done. Have a good one everyone, stay safe and awesome <3

Nice! I would be thrilled to see the latest progress.

It's always better to put time into map making than rushing. It's a long process. Some may even take years to finish.

I like the idea of the Arab area having enemies. That way I wouldn't have to set spawners manually so shootouts would be diverse.

[PART 3] This started as a thing for myself, evolved into releasing it for everyone but was still a very simple map despite still getting a lot of good feedback out of it (unexpected!), but you gonna go crazy with this remake I'm making.
As I already said, it's gonna be released as a new map, this workshop page won't be updated.

[PART 2] Gonna have triggerable type of enemies including a helicopter with its movement paths. I'm making a "portal" area where it brings you to the different locations all around the map, since otherwise you'd have to travel a lot with the noclip and especially you won't know where each are is situated, unless you literally study the map which isn't really the optimal thing, I'm gonna be making portals for each one to quickly get to places.

Making a map like mine in gmod isn't easy task since during mapping there's tons of factors which you don't even think they exist until you encounter them. And to me personally this is fun, but sometimes frustrating and time consuming, thats why its taking time. Also, I keep tweaking stuff and having more ideas, which ofc means the map get delayed a bit more. For its launch, I'm also gonna make imgur albums showing cut content from the final map, various stages of the make of them and so on.

[PART 1] Despite the months of silence, know that I'm still working on the map. I've been changing and adding so many things that I can't even keep track of it, and after I'll finish everything I'll need to optimize it all for making it run. Also changed ideas on some stuff because either not as fun as I thought or simply isn't possible or incredibly time consuming, even more than it's already taking! Sorry can't give an ETA, just know I'm still working on it. The arab area gonna be most likely like a mission, something like "clear the town from the baddies" and when you enter in specific triggers those gonna make enemies spawn in various rooms etc, basically you just gotta clear out the area. About enemies infinitely spawning, there's another area on its own which can be used for anything, even pvp if you'd wish to.

Adding more luna park attractions, finally found a reason to introduce speed boosters in the map (for a long time I didn't know what to do with them despite being ready to be placed), and most of the new attractions include destruction and physics! added more buttons to turn on and off attractions and their speed (low, medium and high) and right now I'm working on make the map dark and toggleable with a button for making it night (the night sky however have to be done manually by the players with the given sandbox items for controlling sky, fogs and sun) and more to come and finish! Anyways I'm liking the progress so far. I don't mind if it reaches 200mb so long as we have general optimizations around most areas so we can do NPC battles smoothly without problems.

Quick update, added 2 pretty funny easter eggs around the map and yeah still working on it. Also I'm gonna include some of your nicknames (including yours, deluxefrappe) in the map as a special thanks. Whenever I give a date I always end up delaying it because I want it to be perfect + I'm just gonna release it and that's it, literally a final update XD Also I'm gonna release it as a new map, not as update of this one (for visibility reasons). But I can assure that the biggest parts are already done, I'm just adding few things, polishing and doing the "logic" parts of them, since they are the most boring and complicated as usual.

and another empty room without any light BUT it's gonna have pillars all over the place (kinda like a parking place) and I had in mind in making a event which spawns you in the middle of it and you gotta find the way out of it, while enemies spawning all over the place. Yeah, prepare yourself a new pair of pants. And probably more to come! This current and old version of the map compared to the new one I'm making, it's just day and night. From a very simple (yet effective) sandbox map to an insane one, filled of content yet keeping the same initial goal of this project, may I call it. I'm basically putting my heart into this.

Also despite my first intentions in adding a extra level underground, I'm still gonna add it but in a different sauce! Gonna be with waves of enemies spawning from the tombstones and if you want you can go safe and get into a tower for killing them from the top. Don't worry, you still aren't fully safe there, the fast zombies are fast. Apart many optimizations and general improvement, added some modern looking buildings with the lake view, with ambient sounds all over the map! The water gonna have seagulls flying around too and the glasses of the building can be destroyed. And more stuff like a "coliseum" area, more messing around areas like a totally white room, a totally black room, a totally empty and dark room (jumpscares incoming?) - part 2

Things just keeps getting added. Not only the race track go-kat-like but also a standard race road which goes for all the lenght of the map! Including in it, toggleable of course, a speed boost for extra fun. Added another zone separated from the rest also kinda empty for messing around with possibly smoother fps compared to the outside (where many things are at) and planning in placing at the center of it some well thought building for waves of enemies, which ofc gonna be automatically spawned and toggleable. In that area is also present a cube with mirrors in all the 6 faces and can be moved around, compared to gm_construct where it's in a closed thight room and stuck to the wall so can't be moved with the physics gun. - part 1

I'm optimizing the map each day for making everything fit inside the map, and the only cons of this map is that it's gonna weight minimum 200mb! Thanks to the sounds being stupidly heavy in hard disk space and the 4k textures which eats quite a lot as well. (They have been used in the space, and it was required for having high quality textures with lots of details but making it an amazing view. So hoping that those 200+mb won't scare you, you gonna get a bomb of a map! I can guarantee you. It also got a mirror for messing around, more buildings outside of the arab zone (since the arab zone is FILLED of buildings), now the sky is like the flatgrass one as well where you can mess around with the colors and the dusk, with the sun, with the fog! And so much more, also to come. I'm really proud of what I'm making and I hope soon y'all gonna have fun in it. I'm about to reach the 1 year of work in it (with ofc a lot of breaks) - part 2

Little news update: I keep getting new ideas and adding stuff! I started this map as a little thing and alternative to flatgrass but the more I work on this map the more I realize I'm actually making this map a huge thing lol. I plan in calling it Ultimate Sandbox or something like that, since it still aims in being flatgrass but mixed with construct and many things that no map has! All over the map you got ambient sounds (nature with birds, seagulls in the sky up the water zone, water sounds close to the water and so on) with actual seagulls flying all over the water zone! -part 1

Hello everyone. I'm also adding some kind of "obstacle course" into the map, which has a mix of everything. I bet y'all gonna enjoy it. I was thinking even in putting a leaderboard at the end of it and update once a year for adding the players in it. Probably could be about the best time and would need a video for proof and approvation. I'll see how it delevops :csdsmile:

Did some testings and took a decision, I won't be making the extra level underground, so except few changes to the current one it will stay the same, but everything else is fine!

Also I wanna add that the arab zone gonna be well polished, so no stuck spots, no exploits where npc's (at least the fastzombies) can't reach you, very good ai and so on. It's gonna be good also for pvp or even parkour! Since you can easily get on top of the buildings. I estimate to finish all of this during august. I hope. :)

Yeah underground it's more of the amount of NPC's getting spawned honestly. I actually splitted many of those spawns between areas to not make all of them spawn at once. It really do be like that with gmod's engine (left 4 dead one is better, can handle so many zombies at once and keep the framerates high). On the surface sadly it's a open world space and source in general doesn't like open spaces, not much you can do about that xD everything gets drawn at once, unless you do some insane optimizations that only very skilled mappers could pull off, but with this engine I doubt they could at all. (For open areas func_viscluster is the main entity that is used, which means everything gets drawn at once). Btw I was thinking in releasing 2 versions of the updated map: The main one with all the content and a Light version of it, which probably will remove stuff mainly on the surface like the track for racing. Idk, we'll see how things develop with time! Btw ty for feedback!

I have to inform that my map has reached and exceeded the "brush" limits because source engine is what it is, meaning that from now on I will need to take some drastic decisions, so I'll end up cutting some stuff from the map and downgrading certain stuff. 100% the arab area will stay even with downgrades, and other "toys" around the map for messing around. If I won't be able to make everything fit in the map, the number one thing that could get cut from the map is actually the underground levels, sadly. If so will happen, however the arab area will fill that since it's going to have a pve experience too. We'll see how things goes!

Hello everyone, I got few more screenshots to show you. Again, everything is not done yet so what you gonna see could be changed at anytime.

I have to finish few things in the arab zone and then make the enemies spawns (that can be toggles on and off with a button at the entrance of that zone)
Move and add few things around the map and start the new spooky level. I hope to finish this map before august.

If you have any idea of something that you'd like to see on this map just let me know in the comments. Keep in mind it has to be something fairly "easy" to make and that won't occupy too much space in the map since it's already well filled of things, and the rest of the free space gonna be left free on purpose.

Space got stars and galaxies view now. More ramps "gta" like, platforms that gives you speed, cannons, football/soccer field, basket net, clouds in the sky... and I'm not talking about the skybox! you can physically go through them and if you send a rocket with lights attached on it, prepare for an amazing view up there. In the middle of the water area, now there's a platform with lights (inspired by the SpaceX ones for lifts offs and landings), and much more for messing around. Also the map got tons of optimizations that you can't notice in-game, so no one cares :D I can say that I'm at 3/4 of the work, so the big things has already been done/close to finish.

So as maybe someone noticed so far, I'm adding a good amount of things just like the arab themed town, in this case the "space", and other stuff for messing around in the map. It still aims in being a flatgrass-like map with a lot of big open space, but still wants to offer you extra entertainment and really drive you with fantasy and do a lot of fun bullshit. I just hope that what I've been making so far y'all gonna appreciate it since I'm having lots of fun while making it too!

Hello everyone, I wanted to reaffirm that I'm working on the updated version of the map (which is so much better compared to this old piece of crap) and I'm kinda proud to show you one thing I've made:

Yes, I added the moon with a great view of our home planet earth. You gonna be able to reach space by going very high in the sky, once there you have to travel a bit to reach the moon (sadly I couldn't make it realistic from outside, so the moon is literally a square platform but hopefully when walking on it, it doesn't feel much like it) and for going back to earth you have to go directly to the earth. If you "fall down" you just gonna die from the Freeze status. Also, low gravity!
As I grow up my creativity and fantasy kinda went away, but when I was little it wasn't like that, I messed up a lot with sandbox/open world games, and started thinking what would I have enjoyed to do when little, if I played gmod or was able to make maps.

I'm still updating it actively (but slowly). I had many ideas and kept making and deleting stuff because I wasn't satisfied with the result. The arab themed area is the one I"m putting the most effort into, npc friendly and for pvp. As I said I want to make it into waves of fast zombies (since it's the only monster that runs and jumps around). I appreciate that you still care about this map! I'm sure you gonna enjoy the new version of it. Maybe later I could take some screenshots of what I'm making, but without too many spoilers :D

It's neither you nor the nodes. It's the engine's limitations.

If people want VJ Base SNPC's in, they can add it themselves for recorded scenarios or whatnot. Otherwise it's only going to consume your frames per tick as soon as you start up the map. Kind of beats the purpose of optimizing it.

Anyway I'm still checking out this map regularly. Hope to see more news about it soon. Perhaps a soft release to ease the wait or something so people can test it out. ;)

So far this current old map got ai nodes on the ground plus nav_mesh generated. Keep in mind the ai currently around the map is crap! On the future update it's gonna have way smarter npc. Idk about those modded npcs, but surely the "normal" npcs gonna be better all over the map (probably except the flatgrass zone, but around the one with attractions, so stunts etc, it's gonna have enough decent ai for them! the levels made on purpose for the pve gonna have the best ai I can pull off.) Also I wanna add one more thing, in the arab themed zone I'm making it's gonna be made on purpose for the fast zombies! Since it's the only normal npc that is fast and can jump! I actually tried a VJ npc the other day and it was decent, could follow you and sometimes jump obstacles like fences! While I'm typing this I don't see much on google about adding vj stuff IN THE MAP. I guess it's stuff that needs to be done outside the map, so via mods. again correct me if I'm wrong! any feedback is welcome.
