If it helps others, this is what I do:
1. Open the sign menu from the train depot menu button.
2. Select the sign button (named Utopia in the pic). Place the sign. Use the options to get what you want - I suggest setting track snapping to NO so you can place sign wherever you want.
3. Once you place the sign, the window closes. Immediately click on the train depot button again, and then click on the sign image with the check mark.
4. Sign will now show nearest named location. SO: Check the location is called exactly what you want on the sign. You can't change it later and deleting it is a pain.
Could the effective radius be reduced?
It may be that I don't quite understand all the options but I am having a little difficulty with knowing which is left or right on the combined signs. If I want two signs on a platform, one at either end I have been using track snapping to make sure all the signs on a pole line up. So, I place the sign at one end of the platform then, I go to the other end of the platform, swing the little bit of track round so the pole sits on the platform but when the text is inserted I'm never quite sure which side is left or right so when I use the finisher at least one of the signs has the numbers on the wrong side. :(
Would it be possible to indicate by using 'L' and 'R' or '1' and '2' instead of the '?' so it would be easier to know which side is which?
If that makes sense? :)
Livetext is subscribed, where is the error.
On the first two stations the station name was inserted correctly. On third station the name of an adjacent road was inserted.
